This is advanced notice that server 1 will be upgraded this week. Part of the upgrade is a move to a new machine. There will be a few changes on the new Server 1, you will be able to reach boards by going to invisionfree.com/boardname. We expect the downtime to last for less than 1 hour. At the same time the new backup system will be put into place on all servers. I will post an update here when a more exact date for the upgrade is choosen.

We will also be trying out our 'domain punch' for this move. Normally a server move would require downtime while your ISP updates their DNS info. Our system will avoid that downtime (often 12-72 hours worth). You basically will be silently forwarded to the new machine even if you still can only reach the old machine. The special thing is that you will be able to stay logged in the whole time.

The move has begun. You may notice s1 boards are a bit slower for a while while we transfer some data. Within the next three hours we will be taking the boards offline for 10-60 minutes to complete the transfer.

We will be waiting until around this time tomorrow to actually take the boards offline for a short time and move them. The first part of the transfer is a bit longer than planned.
