Title: MMO News

Tom Camfield - September 22, 2005 12:52 PM (GMT)
I imagine most people have heard about this already, and have probably discussed it in more MMO friendly places, but maybe not, so, has anyone else heard about the disease spreading through WOW or the massive guild heist in EVE for some $16k etc?

Edit: Oh, and I wouldn't have found either if KG hadn't sent me in the right direction, cheers.

Only if you think we're secretly really, really into MNMORPHGS.

I'm not.

No, I thought everyone would have known about it, through some news channel or other. I'm not interested in playing them, but I am interested in them as social experiments, and there's always the joy of watching other people suffer.

GOD SENT THIS PLAGUE.

There is a certain ant-farm appeal about them. Uh-oh, Uh-oh... here come da kettle.

It gets funnier - I was just telling a friend of mine (that I used to play WoW with) about the whole thing, and he was utterly speechless, and I wasn't sure why.

Then he explained. Turns out he suggested this very idea in the feedback form he filled in when we left the game!

Any one got an arcive or cache of the hiest artical, Unless it's the one where the guys has to run to the libary and what not and he's conning people to pay for a ship(the most mega ship ion the game). And then give his half of the money away at the end of it. I read that one. But if this is a different scam I'd be interested to read about it.

But damm those MMORPGS sound like hard work.

That was the old one.

The scam by the EVE corporation known as the Guiding Hand Social Club was covered in a PC Gamer article by Tom Francis, quite recently. Other accounts of the scam can possibly be found on the interwebs.

the original GHSC "press release" in the EVE forums is here:

Most of it means nothing to anyone who doesn't know (or care) about the difference between an ISK and a Modulated Deep Core Miner BPO.
