Man! These are some serious-assed bargains, dudes!
(A word. - Ed)
Er, yes. But seriously - ever paid full price for a game on release day? You moron!
CraigGrannell - July 19, 2005 12:12 PM (GMT)
The last time I did that was for Mission Elevator on the C64. Needless to say, I didn't make the same mistake again.

You can buy a game on release day and still not pay full price.
Personally, I've never paid more than £25 for a game and don't intend to start any time soon.

Good morning, bargain fans. Just found some really cheap games over at
www.gameloaded.co.uk. It's mostly really old PS2 games but there are a few decent gems in there. You can avoid the £2 first class delivery option forced upon you at checkout by switching to 'standard,' thus saving you a quid.
The cherry picks:
Virtua Striker 3 V2002 (Gamecube) £2.59 new
http://gameloaded.co.uk/UK_Virtua_Striker_3_1513.htmI've spent more money than this playing the arcade versions.
Extermination (PS2) £2.49 new
http://gameloaded.co.uk/UK_Extermination_5967.htmThis is a very early PS2 game, a cross between Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil. Worth a punt at budget price.
Gunbird: Special Edition (PS2) £3.49 new
http://gameloaded.co.uk/UK_Gunbird_Special_5641.htmVertical shmup action.
Aqua Aqua: Wetrix 2 (PS2) £1.49 new
http://gameloaded.co.uk/UK_Aqua_Aqua_Wetrix_4186.htmOkay, this one may be a gamble, but a game has to be really shit for you not to get a least £1.49 worth of entertainment out of it.
5 PC Games - Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Strategic Command, Apache Havoc (CD only) & Star Trek Elite Force (CD only) (PC) £2.80 new?
http://gameloaded.co.uk/UK_5_PC_Games_Only_5_2336.htmThat's 56p a game, people.

The Comic Strip Presents... 9 DVD Box Set, £14.99 at MusicZone - (Until they realise that it's scanning as something else - but I got mine today at that price, as it was on the shelf at that price.)

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/TruH...eBundles/778486A Gamecube console, with Donkey Konga, Bongos, and Harry Potter: £49.99
Given that Donkey Konga is going for £29.99 on its own on Amazon, that seems pretty cheap to me.

If anyone fancies a trip to Redditch in the West Midlands, home of needles, fishing hooks and Kevin Turvey, there's a games shop in its death-throes offering 40% off everything in stock, and they don't appear to have up-priced anything to account for this. Barg-ho! (if I wasn't down to my last few notes this month, that is)

Animal Crossing with 4MB Memory Card (Gamecube) £17.99 New
http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=srmr&page=t...GC&title=182733(Apologies that it's over fifteen quid, but since it's sold with hardware it should count, see Rev's original post). Never played it, never seen it this cheap new, supposed to be great.

Anyone know if these games would work on a PS2 in New Zealand? Being PAL and all i'm assuming they will.
JohnMid - July 27, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
Euro games in NZ- I doubt it, purely out of Sony's hateful spite, rather than any problems with TV standards.
Here's something that looks tasty, and just scrapes in at £14.99 - not out yet, mind...

CdrJameson - July 27, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
Australasian Gamecube games work on UK machines, so PS2s might be OK the other way around.
Not particularly helpful that, was it?
Hang on, isn't it legal to chip a PS2 in New Zealand? In which case you could play whichever version you wanted.

The link is for the game at £24.99, not £17.99. Has it been priced up since?
Tom Camfield - July 27, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
Sold out now. I bought it at £17.99 so it was at that price. Sorry you missed out (sad face).

Ultimate Pro Pinball (PS2) £8.99 new
Looks like a bit of a snip, the RRP is £20.
EDIT: Mysteriously, the RRP on the Xbox version is £20, the PS2 version £10.
EDIT THE SECOND: Actually, it's a bit shit (on Xbox, at least). There's a gap of about half a second between pressing the button and the flipper actually flipping.

An ad in the paper today claims that Dixons are having a sale with games 'From 47p'.
However, given that it's Dixons the selection is probably shit.

Good one, new BSG is excellent (series 2 available now on a bittorrent tracker near you!) pity it doesn't include the miniseries as well.
Parallax - July 30, 2005 12:07 PM (GMT)
While that price is rather splendid, there's a region 1 box set coming out in the autumn that's got the entire first season including the mini-series, plus commentaries and deleted scenes.
