Title: Masquerade Theme Ideas
Marcus - April 1, 2011 11:50 PM (GMT)
So provided that I don't completely wear myself out finishing the semester and moving straight after, there's likely going to be a masquerade held in June. I'm essentially out of ideas for themes however and would like to hear what the masses have to say. :heh:
At present the best I can come up with would be holding another general everyone comes as a fancy animal themed masque, or one where everyone comes as some sort of deity/individual from any region's folklore.
What are your thoughts?

Edit: In case you aren't familiar, here's a brief summary-- Vital's Masquerades are held on an annual basis (or that was the idea to begin with anyway) to show good relations between the covens. One coven hosts, picks the theme of dress, and everyone comes and parties for the night. In this case it would probably be the Amman hosting, unless Bastien would like to have the Nephim host to allow everyone to meet the new Nephim Leader.

To be honest my first thought was "I bet Miskal isn't invited." :P
Marcus - April 2, 2011 01:37 AM (GMT)
Not formally (we don't know his address after all :P), but there's no doubt in my mind that he might make an appearance.
Miskal - April 2, 2011 02:22 AM (GMT)
True, my second thought was "He'll probably go anyway..." :D
Not as such a disruptive elemnt though, more lowkey than hitherto. Not that that would be hard...
Did I mention he dances?
And, if it goes well, then maybe The Miscalaneans could host the masquerade next year :P
Or maybe not.
Bastien - April 2, 2011 04:42 AM (GMT)
Bastien would be more than happy to hold the Masquerade. He's quite interested in making a formal introduction of himself to the city at large and would love to have an opportunity to introduce the new face of the Nephim – that being himself and the new, more traditional values he hopes to instil within the coven.
I'll just have to put off putting it together until I finish my semester (say, next 2 weeks).

Yay! Pressure's off me! I mean. *shifty eyes* :P
I generally like to have the masquerade happen around the date of Vital's anniversary (so around June 24). Should give you lots of time to sort out what you'd like to do for it. :)

*cheer* Now, to sort out how to have it Catholic themed, but without offending the Ishak >_>;
'course, Bastien isn't a *huge* fan of the Ishak...
Miskal - April 2, 2011 11:14 PM (GMT)
Priests and hos?
Dress as your favorite biblical character?
:heh:
Or Bastien could, as host, let it be known that as the masquerade is to be held in a church, that guests should attire themselves appropriatly.
I'm just tossing thoughts out here... :P

I was considering something like the third idea. I'll look around and check to see what the current Ishak population is. If we don't have any I may just say they're not invited since it won't affect any players. If we *do* have Ishak well, I'll figure out something else.
On the one hand, intentionally slighting the Ishak might get Jessi stirred up enough to come back to playing Kie. On the other hand, then Kie-Linque would be back in town... Course, so would Enoch and Colum's all single again ;).

Quick question... As you said, all the Covens will be invited... What would happen with the rest of us Independents? Or is this plot one i should just stand back and watch from the window? lol. hahahaha! XD And btw, as for theme, why not make it like they did in Mask of the Red Death, i think it was... like an all black and white, then when miskal comes to crash he can have a red mask signaling that he isnt "supposed" to be there. lol. just throwin ideas out there.

I like the black and white theme idea...or how about have everyone in really dark red silks or purple even...
Not quite sure what one would wear for a 'let's go to church' party. My best Sunday twin-set maybe and a string of pearls? Doesn't feel very Masquerady...or is that just me? <_<
Actually holding it inside a church would be cool though...all candle-lit etc.
Like JT said, just throwing stuff out there :)

Seeing as the masquerade is an event to demonstrate good will between the covens, intentionally not inviting one is a bit of a jerk move and really not the best way to start a reign as a head Coven Leader. :P You're still welcome to do it that way, but with the mutual threat of The Miscalaneans lurking, *I* wouldn't want to go out of my way to add another group of vampires to my list of enemies. Just sayin'. :heh:
P.S. Technically my character Lyre is an Ishak. He's not the sort to complain about not being invited to a fancy party, but his NPC sire sure is. :P
P.S. 2 -- JT, Independents are welcome to attend as well. They just aren't as likely to get formal invitations since they'd be a bit harder to pin down.
Bastien - April 4, 2011 12:55 PM (GMT)
Sadly Bastien acknowledges that not inviting the Ishak would be a bit of a faux-pas and will most likely bend to pressures of tradition – he *is* a traditionalist after all. He just won't go out of his way to make sure they feel welcome :P On that note, holding the affair in one of the churches may just be the way to do it, albeit some of the religious iconography will need to be covered so that the Ishak can get in and out at will.
I'm still debating theme. I dislike colour parties however so you can bet that a strict black and white dress code will be out of the picture.
Jeremy Trammer - April 5, 2011 04:23 AM (GMT)
Awesome, thanks Marcus. Hopefully when I finally get time to post with Bastien maybe I can get an invite. lol. And if not then maybe I'll have to pull like a romeo juliet thing. Ill just have to keep away from Amber, too beautiful and I would rather not have Jeremy die so quickly. XD Hahahahaha!
Oh, and Bastien total randomness here but, If you dont like colorful dress code wouldnt that actually rule in the black and white??? Or are you talking about a specific dress code?
Amber Morgan - April 18, 2011 06:49 AM (GMT)
How's the planning going? Got a theme yet?
Bastien - April 18, 2011 01:31 PM (GMT)
I am sorry to report that I haven't even thought about it since my last post. I'll add it to my list of things to do today.
