Alrighty! Though nobody voted moose (and a little bit of me was hoping someone would :P) we did get enough votes to warrant going ahead with this. So, without further ado:
The Process:1. Copy the blank form below and paste it into a PM.
2. Fill in the form (all info is required, except for the “anything else”).
3. Address the PM to me, and send it.
4. Wait for a PM back from me with info on your Secret Santa partner, which I will select for you once I’ve received everyone’s forms.
5. Go shopping. :) Try and keep your gift around $10 (your country’s currency, without shipping), and use your partner’s answers as a guide. Don’t kill yourself over this if you just can’t seem to find the perfect gift, but do make an effort not to get something they’ll hate. ^.~
6. Ship your package to your partner (by whichever delivery method you prefer).
7. Wait by the mailbox for your gift, and do the “W00t! Present!” jig when you receive it. :P Post a picture of it or just post about it in the brag thread that will be created for all to see/read about!
Deadlines:Friday, December 3: All completed forms must be PMed to Marcus. I will match everyone up and PM participants with their partner no later than the following Saturday.
Friday, December 17: All gifts must be mailed by this date (be better to send it earlier though, to avoid the Christmas rush!).
Rules (you know I love 'em):1. Please do not send me a form if you will not be able to hold up your end of the deal. It’d kinda suck for perfectly nice people to not get a gift because you backed out.
2. As stated in the poll thread, participation is not mandatory.
3. If for some reason you had every intention of buying and sending a gift but suddenly aren’t able to (ie. you've filled out the form and have a present headed your way, but aren't able to hold up your end of the exchange), please let me know before Dec. 17.
4. Gift wrapping and a card are optional. :P
5. Users under 16 will need parental permission to participate.
Not So Much Rules as Guidelines:Though I’m going to make every effort to partner people that are in the same country, I have some tips for sending across the border/sending things in the mail in general:
1. Don’t try sending food, even candy. Chances are very high it’ll arrive at your partner’s door as crumbs. (I had someone try and send me a bag of Skittles across the border once, and my mom was afraid to open the package because they’d been reduced to white and vaguely multi-coloured dust that was falling out of the envelope.)
2. Send something breakable at your own risk. This applies mostly to sending across the border, as I haven’t had any problems sending breakable items cross-country, provided that they’re bubble-wrapped or something similar. For sending across the border, however, it doesn’t matter how well you think you’ve padded the item, customs will open the box, take out the padding, and shove it back in any which-way, most likely resulting in a broken breakable by the time it arrives.
