The sweet melody dance upon the still night air, its power building with each and every passing moment, increasing in tone and pitch. To the casual listener it would have sounded like a happy song, but listening deeper one could hear the pain and sorrow that colored the notes like midnight caught in a pane of glass. But mournful or rapturous, the song would continue, for its player willed it to and for nearly two hundred and eighty-six years, this player had lived in freedom.

He could still remember the slavery, but even on the mind of an immortal time has an effect and for him, that effect had been a growth in his indifference toward those whom had held him in such low reguard, but time had not had an effect on the sorrow that dwelled in his heart. And for this reason as well as his will, he played.

"Forgive my sins and protect my soul." the seemingly young man mused, bring his song to an end and looking out at the world around him. He was in a park of some kind, sitting in a tree, he didn't remember coming here, but then he forgot many things and didn't care to try remembering.
