Title: Youth
Description: Sky meets an old friend
Sky - April 4, 2004 11:42 PM (GMT)
It had been a long night, the subway laid bare minus two. If you listened carefully you could hear the sound of rain pattering down the steps outside. There the water trickled down and into a tiny stream which ran past someone's foot and down into the sewers below. That foot belonged to Sky, he dipped his toe into the stream and watched the direction change. Amused by this little game Sky remember how he used to play in warm puddles when he was a boy, warm puddles heated by the sunlight.
Sky usually walked barefoot, he'd done it for so long now he was beginning to forget why he started. Above his feet, at just under ankle length were his faded blue jeans, above that his white shirt creased from the lack of washing, across his head was a pair of headphones playing barely audible music.
The other in the subway was not important to Sky, she seemed content on her own and thought the same about Sky. She kept her back to him, dressed in a long raincoat, her hair tied in a bun and wearing high heels. Every so often she would check her watch and scan the board for train times.
Sky's ears pricked up as he heard someone approach the entrance.
Nafretiri - April 8, 2004 02:58 AM (GMT)
Descending down the stairs slowly, Nafretiri noticed the subtle change in the air. It was colder than the air above, and much more quiet. There were very few thoughts floating around.
Her shoes made soft sounds on each stair, as did her soaking dress which slapped the stair just behind her everytime she went further down into the dark abyss. Warm wet spots formed on her shoulders from the tears created by her wet, heavy hair. She was tempted to remove the annoyance, but she would wait until she got home. It may have been an honor to be as she was back then, but it was no more. These were different times.
Not for the first time, Nafretiri wondered what had possessed her to decide to take the subway. Whatever it was, it had been an idiotic decision, and she regretted it. Now soaking, it would take her much longer to get to her living quarters. The least she could have done was call a taxi. Still, something seemed to call to her from this direction.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she moved her gaze upwards. There was a mortal giving off waves of impatience, and one of her kind. She studied the vampire for a moment, knowing his face, even after all these years.
"Sky..."
Sky - April 9, 2004 05:37 PM (GMT)
He watched her walk down the steps of the subway, his intrest in the person grew as he saw her face emerge from the darkness Sky wondered where he knew it from and debated if he should run or not. With the run of luck he had lately he wasn't sure if anything would turn out okay anymore.
But he stood tall and took a step towards her, his bare feet making contact with the running stream of rain water underfoot. A train flew past without stopping at that point, and Sky paused waiting for the noise to stop. The impatient mortal looked very annoyed about it not stopping and leaned against the wall. "Nafretiri," Sky said to her as he nodded in a greeting, "its been a while."
Nafretiri - April 9, 2004 06:30 PM (GMT)
She offered him a small smile, and bowed her head in greeting. "Indeed it has."
Raising her head, she looked at him with her dark, glittering eyes. He was illuminated by the small lights that threatened to go out in a moment's notice. He wasn't dressed elegantly, but then again, Nafretiri doubted that she looked any better. There was a reason she disliked walking in the rain.
Clasping her hands in front of her, she walked closer to him with strange grace considering she was soaking. "You need not run. I mean no harm," she said in a casual sort of way. Stepping even closer, she reached up to brush a hair out of his face. "Tell me what you're thinking." Her eyes peered into his. Even with her heels, he was at least eight inches taller. Nafretiri didn't mind though. She'd gotten used to having to look up at people
Sky - April 12, 2004 09:58 AM (GMT)
Sky took another step towards her, he spread his legs out slightly to support his stance. The cold air from the top of the stairway had blown some hair into his eye and he tucked it behind his ear with a hand, then he folded them again.
"I am intreged. Did you come here to see me especially? If so how did you find me?" His eyebrow raised as he thought up the possibility, "or is there something else that brought you to the city?"
Nafretiri - April 12, 2004 08:02 PM (GMT)
Raising an eyebrow, she gave him a bit of a smirk, hardly visible, but enough to know it was there. Nafretiri took another step forward so that they were chest to chest - or head to chest, whatever the case may be. Moving a piece of wet hair behind her shoulder she looked at him, looking straight up at him.
"Actually," Nafretiri said casually, looking at his chest and smoothing out a wrinkle on his shirt, "it seems we have been brought together by coincidence. I came to this city purely by chance, as was my choice to come to this particular subway station. I trust you find it a pleasant surprise?" She looked up at him, an innocent expression playing on her face.
