Title: Cold meat
Blackjackal - December 7, 2006 07:27 AM (GMT)
"Bloody cold...all cold and wet and stuff..." The aged man was heavily clothed, warm from the cold air in the city. Dressed in a thick blue coat, he carried two bags of garbage in his hands. Almost all throughout his life, he haited this time of year; with his age getting greater, it became more noticable as well. With the night sky looming above, it was also hard to tell exactly where he was supposed to drop the garbage off.
Stepping around a corner, the old man stepped into a darkened alley that he had remembered as his own. Squinting his eyes, he looked around, searching for the specific dumpster that was used by his apartment building in general. As he searched, motion in the distance caught his eye. Stepping slightly closer, he attempted to see beyond the barrier of darkness. The small steps he made however, soon revealed the figure.
Slowly from the shadows, the figure seemed to lean forwards somewhat, letting the light of the street lamps splash over the black metal. The black horns protruding from the helmet seemed to increase the demonic look. Slowly, from what the man could tell, the armor clad figure was stepping towards him, staring at him, the rounded visor watching his every move. Both bags slipped from his grip as he began to back away, and with this action, the figure came into a full sprint.
As far as Sheila could tell, her prey was too old to run, his blood would probably lack the flavor of other humans that she enjoyed drinking so much. Catching up with him easily, she grabbed both sides of his head and twisted it, snapping the already fragile spine. Without another though, she removed her left hand and removed her helmet, letting her black hair slip out and her face appear from behind the mask. The helmet then fell into the snowy ground, digging in a small distance and stopping. Opening her mouth, she bit into the jugular vein of his neck, the pressure letting it simply spill from his neck and into her mouth.
A few moments afterwards, the fresh taste had filled it's purpose, leaving Sheila partially satisfied with her kill. She was only partially satisfied due to the man's age, making him easier than others. Slowly her armored hand released the side of his head, letting the man drop to the ground limp. She then wiped the blood from her lips before giving a grin spread across her face, exposing the fangs and the other teeth that she originally had, but she didn't speak. Instead, she simply stared at the man she had killed to feed herself, eyeing the corpse as if it would have been a trophy of sorts. However her grin faded, and her left eye twitched slightly. Pleasure turned into anger, and out of anger, she kicked the body causing it to slide through the snow slightly.
Pandora Lorrain - December 7, 2006 07:44 AM (GMT)
Chi was out as she usually was. It was uneventful as many of her nights were. There was snow everywhere and she did a slow twirl and the snow seem to gather around her like a cyclone. It soon settled and she was on her way, looking around for some sort of entertainment. She stepped into an alleyway, planning to go through it to reach the next main street, when something rolled to her feet.
She felt death before actually seeing it. She had lived so long that death was no more than her companion in arms. She bent down to pick up the helmet and gave it a look over. She had never seen anything like it, though it was a piece of craftmanship. She had seen better though, people in the past made everything from scratch, hell she even tried to make some, until she realized that fire was needed, didn't like fire very much.
She lifted her head from the metal in her hands, her silver hair shadowing part of her face. That's when she saw the display of anger from the younger vampire and she simply laughed. "Angry much?" She was small, 5'2" and she was in the body of a 16 year old. The only thing that made her an ancient vampire was the cloak of power that surrounded her. She was too old and too sane, to actually exist yet she had her insane moments.
She wore a long black coat that hid anything else she wore, except for the black boots and long forest green skirt the poked from beneath the jacket. He brown eyes looked over the woman carefully, she was only a child, a baby by vampire standards. "For one so young, you have a lot of anger."
Blackjackal - December 7, 2006 08:02 AM (GMT)
"Angry much?"
Sheila ignored the newer voice as she crouched down beside the dead human, reaching towards her back for something. Hanging loosely by a thin string, Sheila pulled a canteen from her back, and set it next to the body. Inside, the sloshing of some type of liquid could be heard.
Unscrewing the cap, she placed the canteen under the still bleeding neck. She then let the blood pour into the canteen itself, trying her best to bury the lack of ability she had towards fighting mortals, or anybody for that matter.
"For one so young, you have a lot of anger."
Again, she continued to ignore the girl standing before her, keeping her eyes focuisng on the blood as it brought the blood level in the canteen up slightly more. She then released the man's head, letting it drop, and put the cap back ontop of the container. The canteen was returned to it's original position on her back and her mood somewhat calm. Reaching over, she reached to grab her helmet.
"He wasn't good prey...besides, his blood isn't as fresh either." Sheila spoke in a near mumble, trying not to be bothered with talking. As she spoke, she stood up, parts of her armor giving small clinking noises at points while the layer of cushion layer generated it's own rubber-ish noise. For a few moments, she examined the person standing in front of her.
"Vampires...all the same..." She then started to turn away, looking to leave.
Pandora Lorrain - December 7, 2006 08:25 AM (GMT)
Chi smiled as the other ignored her. She was in an interesting mood, that was the only way to describe it. Perhaps the other way would be insane, but she wasn't completely insane or senile for that matter, though some might think so. The young one couldn't fight the mortals? Chi couldn't understand why you would want to, but then she had lost all interest in mortals.
She loved telepathy, even when people didn't want to be heard, she still heard, her power was simply that strong. When the other reached for her helmet, Chi held it out. "Why do you bother with armor, if you get hurt, you will simply heal. I don't understand vampires this day in age, especially the young ones, and you are so young." Chi was odd, that was the only way to put it, but she loved pestering young vampires and she was known to be relentless when she was in the mood and tonight she was in the mood.
"All the same?I beg to differ, you could be dealing with an actual monster, though young ones should learn to respect their elders. They seem to think that it is unnecessary, that is until the have one on their backs. Ancients don't survive by simply being, they go through wars and death and have probably gone through everything possible. I know that I have." She was also in a talktative mood though that usually came with the insanity, it was something to simply deal with. "Things aren't always what they seem, child."
Her voice held power that wouldn't be heard in the voice of a 16 year old. The way she spoke showed that she had lived many years and had survived it all. Her face was also blank and devoid of emotions, it was something that was quite out of context on the face of one that looked young. She simply blinked at the other waiting for the conversation she knew that was to come.

"Why do you bother with armor, if you get hurt, you will simply heal. I don't understand vampires this day in age, especially the young ones, and you are so young."
Sheila had accepted the helmet, and returned it to its original position. Stepping away slightly, she just started wanting to leave now.
"All the same?I beg to differ, you could be dealing with an actual monster, though young ones should learn to respect their elders. They seem to think that it is unnecessary, that is until the have one on their backs. Ancients don't survive by simply being, they go through wars and death and have probably gone through everything possible. I know that I have."
She probably didn't understand what Sheila had meant, with the fact that they were both vampires...and according to the girl, she was old enough to miss some details of speech, it was all just another annoyance, the inability to understand that she had been independent for a reason, to avoid other vampires...
"Things aren't always what they seem, child."
The comment almost made the "Young" vampire lash out at her, attack her and find some method, some strategy to employ towards defeating her. However, like most things that was a mere dream among dreamers, something that wouldn't happen at this current day and age. Again, anger had started to claw its way out of her mental grave, and attempt at making the situation worse. She probably didn't realise it, but her right hand had clenched into a fist, then the fingers uncurled to their full length, as if she were flexing her hand muscles under the armor.
Pandora Lorrain - December 7, 2006 05:10 PM (GMT)
Chi was surprised with the woman's unwanting to speak, well perhaps not surprised, well she didn't look surprised yet it was obvious that she was a master of her emotions, she felt them yet none of them showed on her face. So much practice had gone into that, it was quite important to her.
Independent to avoid vampires? Chi wanted to laugh. In this city it was impossible to avoid vampires, they were everywhere. The five covens were spread throughout the city and that was not counting the independants or the ones that lived separate from their covens. "You can't escape other vampires, they are everywhere, you might want to start to accept that."
Chi saw the other vampire's hands move and the anger that flowed through her. Chi was annoying her, she had an ability to do so much that a punch or two wouldn't hurt. "I know you want to hit my dear. Go ahead, punch me perhaps it will help you relieve some of that tension."
Blackjackal - December 8, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
"You can't escape other vampires, they are everywhere, you might want to start to accept that."
Sheila eyed the vampire standing now to her side slightly. She knew that vampires were great in nyumber, and it made it all the harder just to find the one responsible for her suffering, then she could have her peace.
"I know you want to hit my dear. Go ahead, punch me perhaps it will help you relieve some of that tension."
The idea of hitting the girl with all she had was partially stress relieving, but it was even more so deciding not to. Slowly the flexing stopped, and the fingers returned to their original position.
"I choose to avoid other vampires, and look for one and only one." Sheila raised her helmet and placed it over her head. She then pressed the connection ring of the neck against the connection ring of the helmet and locked it into place, making a small clicking noise. The more appropriate face was now seen, the horns of the helmet adding a slight demonic feel.
"Personally, I don't really care which person is a human and which is a vampire..." She paused for a second, then looked up towards the sky. Although her face probably couldn't be seen beyond the visor, she still felt like her expressions were being monitored. Her head seemed to tilt back slightly. "...so if you don't mind, leave me alone and keep to yourself."
Pandora Lorrain - December 8, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
Chi was amazed at the young woman's relunctance to mingle with others, though she did take the helmet out of Chi's hand. That was a relief. She could feel the anger and the want of revenge. "Do you think that you can kill a vampire a lot older than you? Do you know how hard that it?"
Chi was a realist and she was only trying to be well realistic. Trying to kill an older vampire wasn't something that was easy to do. She saw the woman seem to relax, well perhaps whe actually did relax, Chi didn't want to pry in her mind...too much.
Chi frowned, biting her lower lip. "Let's say you find the one that you are looking for and you do manage to kill him, then what are you going to do? Why is it that vampires are so intent on finding the ones that changed them to kill them? I never go that, so people simply get over it and move on. I can count a few who did just that. You expect too much, if your sire doesn't want to be found by you, you won't find him."
Chi blinked and looked at the young one. "I'm not leaving and you can't make me." Perhaps a bit of the petulant child in her, but she had been a goddess on Earth and she damn well was going to use that right and do as she pleased. This child won't make her go anywhere.
Blackjackal - December 8, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
Sheila's eyes seemed to slowly look downwards, back towards the girl. What she was saying, seemed like something important, but at the same time hardly worth listening to. The stare of her helmet looked back down at her, and tilted slightly.
"I kill him, then it's all said and done..." Sheila paused as she raised her left hand and used it to support her chin as if she were thinking about something. "...besides, it was his decision to let me live." She then looked out towards the street, as if waiting for something to happen. Despite this, she didn't turn her head to make it obvious.
"I'm not leaving and you can't make me."
Sheila was about to say something when the girl said it, something that would probably seem to annoy her again. The funny thing was, she seemed to misunderstand what Sheila meant with her comment. She didn't want company at all, especially when she was hunting. The whole idea of such seemed poitless, being as the blood was as close as the next hospital.
"You don't have to, but that's not stopping me from leaving..." Sheila said it with a slightly menacing tone as she began to back up further into the alley, shadows slowly covering and hiding her from sight.
Pandora Lorrain - December 8, 2006 12:37 PM (GMT)
Chi grinned her teeth flashing in the darkness. She was wildly amused by this, actually she was having the time of her life, that was saying alot. Not many vampires wanted to entertain her, they didn't like beings pawns. They never were pawns, they simply entertained her, with what they did.
Chi tilted her head to one side and watched the other one. "Do you think that you are the only one in this situation? Do you think that perhaps some of us were misleaded as well or simply attacked out of the blue and changed?" Chi paused and muttered under her breath. "Young vampires always think that they are so special, so alone. Drama queens is what they all are."
Chi laughed darkly and shadows seemed to whirl around her momentarily. "Threatning me child? You don't want to do that. I don't respond well to threats." She thought momentarily and grinned again, her fangs appearing. "You could ask the last person who threatned me, but I killed them and they were a lot older than you."
Chi saw her try to melt into the shadows. She simply didn't get it, did she? "You can try to leave, but I will follow you. When I put my mind to following somebody, they are as bright as a sun in my mind. Telepathy does that to people." She vanished and reappeared in a shadow behind her. Levitating slightly she whispered in the woman's ear. "You can't hide from ancients, my dear. Especially not me."
Blackjackal - December 9, 2006 05:51 AM (GMT)
Sheila had continued to back up, grinning slightly, however her grin seemed to fade as something appeared behind her.
"You can't hide from ancients, my dear. Especially not me."
Sheila's expression of satisfaction faded upon hearing the girl's voice once more. Like an irritating bug, or an itch that didn't go away...she refused to leave her alone. It didn't take more than a split second for the decision to be made, but to her it seemed like the best one she had made al day. Having heard enough of this person, she lifted her left foot from the ground and straightened it out as she spun her entire body on her right foot, attempting to kick Chi with the backside of her foot. As she carried out the attack, she had clenched her teeth together, her hands clenched into fists and her eyelids partially narrowed. Although she wasn't in a blind rage, she was angry at the vampire now.
She watched, monitoring the attack while already setting up methods of dodging a counter-attack, hopefully something that would help her with fighting this supposed "elder" vampire.
Pandora Lorrain - December 9, 2006 01:31 PM (GMT)
Chi could feel the emotions running through the younger vampire. She was like an irritating bug though she had never been called that. To her it seemed to fit.
She saw a change in her stance and knew exactly what was going to happen before it even happened. She side-stepped quickly and the kick missed her. She laughed. "You are going to have to be faster than that, child. A lot faster."
Chi was having the time of her life. She loved to annoy people, even thought she was suppose to act like the wise ancient. She had acted like that long enough, now it was time to have fun. The next thing that happened, was faster than the mortal eye she moved to the youths other side and crouched low. She then tried to sweep the other immortal's feet from beneath her.
Blackjackal - December 9, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
As the attack approached the vampire, Sheila grinned. However when she dodged her kick, things seemed to go awry even further. Quicly she tried to retract her leg, hoping not to get caught off guard while in the middle of her attack.
"You are going to have to be faster than that, child. A lot faster."
Although normally she would curse at herself for missing a target...she didn't really focus on that exact thing at this moment. Her leg was almost returned to it's normal standing position when something hit the back of her other foot, pulling it out from under her. Droping for a second, she landed in the snow on her back.
Quickly she raised her feet and rolled backwards until the bottom of her feet could touch the ground. She then stood up straight, hoping to be facing the vampire that she had tried to attack. As she waited, she began thinking of any other possible methods of attack, hoping to somehow catch the girl off guard.
Pandora Lorrain - December 10, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)
Chi grinned when her leg made contact with the other's leg. Some fledgling needed to be put back in their places and Chi was glad that she had been chosen for this.
She watched on as the other landed on her back and did a back roll. Basic, that was basic. Chi hadn't even started, she was still warming up. The other was wondering how to catch her off guard that much was clear. You didn't survive 6 millenia, by being caught off guard, that was for sure.
Chi had trained for part of her mind to always be alert, to everything. "You are only a child who knows nothing of the world around you. You think you do, but you were dropped into this world a child, a baby. You don't even have a guide, you knwo nothing." Chi was goading her a bit, she could even call her by name if she so wanted, but she would keep that for later. It could be fun. The night definitely looked up.
Blackjackal - December 10, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
"You are only a child who knows nothing of the world around you. You think you do, but you were dropped into this world a child, a baby. You don't even have a guide, you knwo nothing."
Sheila wasn't exactly getting happier with the talk coming from the person. If the girl expected conversation, she wouldn't get it...
Looking around, she started searching for a method of leaving...the way she had come was available...but then again, it was also available to the person she didn't want following her. Looking up, she spotted her escape route, and took her chance at getting it. Running forward, she got halfway to the girl before crouching, keeping her mind focused on a fire escape above, she jumped forward instead of at the ladder, launching herself in the direction of Chi.
Slowly Sheila's left hand cocked back to impact Chi as her target came closer. If this attack missed, then she'd probably land outside of the alley and exposed on the street, something that was never a good thing. It would be even worse if somebody was driving by...Sheila wasn't exactly clothed to look normal tonight.
Pandora Lorrain - December 10, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
chi watched and wondered what would come out of it. She was annoying the hell out of her, but ancient needed to find entertainment somehow and this was it. She wasn't looking for conversation, she was simply looking for fun and she had defintiely found it. Life couldn't get any better.
The other was looking for an exit, she wasn't even trying to hide it. Chi wasn't going to make it any easier either. She simply wasn't going to give her the exit. She would return the fight and keep her in this alley way.
She knew the moment that the woman leaped towards her what she was going to do. It helped that because of her age she had fought in a few battles. As the woman reached her and would have punched her. Chi grabbed her arm and slamed her into the wall. She was small, but she had the strength of a small steam roller and that was saying a lot. Chi wondered what would happen next.
Blackjackal - December 10, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
The attack seemed to come closer, however Sheila didn't feel an impact against her the gauntlet covering her hand. Her hand did seem to jerk in a different direction however as she was swung towards the wall.
Halfway Sheila realised what was happening, but was unable to affect the action and save herself. Before long, pain seemed to fill her spine...even the back of her ribs as she hit the wall, partially chipping away at the brick wall. Sheila then dropped face first into the snow, her arms landing in front of her while her body seemed to hit the ground.
For a few seconds, everything seemed slower, sluggish in a way that she had seen before. To her, it was like waking up in the morning, and like always, she usually asked to keep sleeping. For the small amount of time, she had also forgotten about her worries, lying on the ground and half awake.
Once some more time began to pass, her right arm brushed through the snow as she started to regain her senses and memories...things that had been lost during the shock. It was slow, but it wasn't every day a person got slammed into a wall...
Pandora Lorrain - December 10, 2006 04:08 AM (GMT)
Chi watched as the woman slowly tried to get her senses back. She watched carefully and could see that she was trying to put her pieces back together. She simply watched. "Do you understand now, child or do you want more?"
Chi didn't necessarily want to give her more, but all she wanted to do was to make her understand. She wondered if it finally got through her mind. "I want to help you learn, Sheila, but you have to want me to let you."
(OOC: small post, I'm sorry.)
Blackjackal - December 10, 2006 08:11 AM (GMT)
"Do you understand now, child or do you want more?"
The words were rough and slow...hard to understand for the now injured vampire. Although Sheila had naturally been agile...she was never the strongest of the group.
Resting on the ground, she tried to ignore the pain, and slowly got up. As she did so, she gave small grunts of pain, up until she was all the way on her knees and facing the girl. From that point forward she found it easier to stand.
"I want to help you learn, Sheila, but you have to want me to let you."
The fact that Sheila had been identified, without so much as suggesting that it was her...left her partially shocked. She didn't freeze however, but instead a seemingly blind rage came from deep within. Lunging forward, she threw another punch towards Chi's stomach, while the other fist cocked back to strike at her face. Sheila wanted to hurt her...make her sorry for ever bothering her...
Pandora Lorrain - December 10, 2006 01:30 PM (GMT)
Chi could see her struggling to stand and once she seemed in pain, in a shit load of it. A lot of younger vampires didn't heal as fast as she did. She also wondered if she should let the other vampire get a punch in. Then she shook her head at the thought. There was no point in doing that. It would simply make her think that she was actually good and vampires with ego's were not needed.
She saw the woman throw two punches at her. Both her hands shot out and grabbed Sheila's fists. She now had control over Sheila's hands. She wasn't going anywhere any time soon.
Now that Chi was in control, what would she do with her, the younger vampire had to understand and if she kept throwing blind punches at people in wouldn't add up to anything good. "I want to help you. Let me help you."
Blackjackal - December 10, 2006 04:54 PM (GMT)
With having her last two attacks failed, it wasn't as surprising now that she had stopped both of her punches. Although she didn't try to get them loose, but instead she lifted one foot off the ground and kicked towards Chi's chest.
"I don't want your help, I don't want anybody's help!!" She nearly shouted it, but kept her voice under control. The last thing they needed was more attention. Humans had a tendency to fear what was different, hence why they immediately feared animals upon seeing them. Other vampires had a tendency to wait out a fight, and attack the weakened foe, that was if they were too weak to take on another vampire themselves.
If the kick was successful, then Sheila would attempt to get her hands free as well, she needed some distance from this vampire...some distance to deliver another attack from. However it seemed hard being as Chi had been holding both hands, preventing Sheila from pulling away.
Pandora Lorrain - December 11, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
Chi watched saddened by the other vampire's dislike of wanting to be with others of her kind. She had felt the muscle twitch underneath the vampire's armor and knew exactly what her reaction to the kick would be. The kick came and went right through her. Her hands were still strong on the other's hands.
When Chi had discovered her ability with the wind she didn't know how to take it, though the more she worked with it, the more she enjoyed the feel of it. She not only could control the wind, but she could also control the molecules around her, creating objects. The molecules also included the ones of her body, therefor she could go invisible or immaterial anyways. Since she had had it for a long time, she had learned to make part of her go immaterial. With age came such power.
"You still don't get it. I'm offering my help, I don't offer help to everyone, you need guidance, without guidance you'll piss off the wrong vampire and you will be dead and unable to carry out your vengeance. That would suck now wouldn't it." Perhaps she needed to talk to something she could relate too. The vampire wanted vengeance and yet it seemed that she also was intent on fighting Chi, therefor perhaps leading to her death... Chi didn't understand youngsters anymore...
Blackjackal - December 11, 2006 05:37 AM (GMT)
Sheila had expected the vampire to dodge, but something totally different happened. Her foot seemed to go right through, leaving Chi unharmed. Slowly it began to sink in as the truth became believable. Unable to do anything, Sheila's expression changed to that of fear, and her entire world seemed to blur.
"You still don't get it. I'm offering my help, I don't offer help to everyone, you need guidance, without guidance you'll piss off the wrong vampire and you will be dead and unable to carry out your vengeance. That would suck now wouldn't it."
Sheila slowly pulled her leg back, using what remaining strength she had to do it with. She then dropped back to her knees as everything began to lose detail. The thoughts of there being vampires capable of more than...it simply added another blow to her thoughts...and her mind needed time alone, time that wouldn't be obtained around the vampire holding her in place.
Gravity seemed to have more of an effect now as Sheila tipped over. Whether or not Chi let go of her hands was entirely up to the old vampire, but the conversation had already had it's impact, and done far more damage than wanted. Sheila's world darkened as her face fell to the snow, and she passed out.
Pandora Lorrain - December 11, 2006 02:39 PM (GMT)
Chi could see the information sink in. The younger vampire's eyes changing, at least now perhaps she could see reason. The fact that she could become immaterial had finally knocked some sense into the other vampire.
Chi released her hands when Sheila feel to her knees and then passed out on the floor. Chi bit her lip and wondered what to do next. She couldn't leave the vampire in the snow, some mortal might find her and bring her home and who knew what would happen after that.
Chi used her telekinesis and lifted Sheila off the ground. Both her and Sheila floated to the top of the building and then onwards to Chi's appartement. Once they were both inside her penthouse. Chi deposited Sheila in one of the guest rooms. She'd be ok there. Chi then removed all her armor. She would be more comfortable to sleep withou it on. Once she had removed it all, she placed them on one of the sofa's in the room. Covering Sheila up, she let her heal and rest. She left the door open and knew that as soon as Sheila woke up, Chi would know.
Blackjackal - December 12, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
The entire encounter seemed like a dream...the whole mess leading up to the present...just a bad dream that would end. As she was moved into the room, she seemed more calm, unable to observe her surroundings or even know about them for that matter. However it seemed as though she were in her own world...muttering incoherent words.
When her helmet was removed, her black hair slowly revealed itself once more. Her face showed details that weren't previous before, signs of exhaustion and tire. The neck protector came off more easily, revealing the bite mark on the left jugular vein. Below the rest of the armor, she was wearing a black tank-top with bluejeans, while her feet were covered with a set of shoes meant to keep moisture from the snow out while remaining comfortable. Her left arm had scars running along the wrist, signs that she had been cut there repeatedly, probably self mutilation.
The armor itself was quite light, and the inside insulated by a thin layer of foam-ish material meant to keep her comfortable and many other things. However the metal wasn't too thick, certainly not thick enough to stop a sharp weapon of any sort.
It was when Sheila was set in the bed, she seemed more calm, quiet, and controlled. Her mind had sorted out some of the information, and was now going into a small stage of relaxation, allowing Sheila to became dead silent, with the exception of her lungs taking in air and letting it out.
Pandora Lorrain - December 12, 2006 02:44 AM (GMT)
Chi could see the relaxations in the other vampire and she was glad to see that the person under the armor was normal. She removed the other woman's shoes and covered her with the duvet that was in the room, keeping Sheila comfortable. The green comforter wasn meant comfort and she hoped that the woman wouldn't wake up to disoriented.
Chi went to the kitchen and took a bottle of dead blood from the bath warmer. She settled herself comfortably of a chair and placed the bottle of dead blood on a side table. She then lifted the book she was reading off the coffee table and settled back to enjoy her reading. It was a historical book on the last dynasty of China. She hadn't been there when it happened, but she was still curious about it.
Chi took sips of the blood from the bottle and at the beginning it was a little warmer than human body temperature. Eventually it cooled down but she continued to drink it and eventually finished the bottle. Now she had to wait for Sheila to wake up.
Blackjackal - December 12, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
The sleep lasted for roughly a half hour, then she seemed to stir. For a few seconds, she slowly shifted until she was in a less comfortable position, creating a mental and physical reason to get up.
In the process, the pain from the previous encounter seemed to return, making her dream more than real, and her current life different from the one she had before. With her reality identified, she opened her mouth and rubbed her thumb against one of the fang-like teeth that vampires seemed to have. Upon confirming that the teeth were there...she froze, remaining motionless as her mind seemed to put the details together like a puzzle.
She was in a room of a building she did not recognize...after having the faint memory of passing out in an alley during a one-sided fight with another vampire. The memories then called upon another fact; her armor was gone. The sensation of her fingers against cloth instead of protective padding seemed to alert her to the problem she was in, and immediately lead her to sit upright and search the room for the person responsible for everything.

Chi's head raised when she heard the woman stir. She placed a bookmark in her book and placed it down. She picked up the bottle and rinsed it before throwing it out in a recycling bin. She then walked into the room, watched with passive interest, until the woman sat up and looked directly at her.
She was still in pain and made Chi realize that her healing ability was very slow. She frowned and then let a small smile grace her face. "I was wondering how long it would take you to wake up. Your armor is on the sofa I thought that you would be more comfortable without it."

Upon seeing the girl, Sheila seemed to have mixed feelings. She had been partially afraid...but not so much as she had been before. The fear however seemed more dominant. Sheila understood, that she had been brought to a place that was hopefully "safe" from the outside, and that the person had different intentions other than just ending the suffering that the injured vampire had gone through.
Like a locket, an object of great personal value, Sheila remembered the words she had heard...the words she had heard not long ago. Slowly her expression seemed to darken to one of shame as she looked away, breaking eye contact to save herself from any sort of embarrassment from the prior events.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to wake up. Your armor is on the sofa I thought that you would be more comfortable without it."
Again, mixed feelings plagued the issue with the armor. She had spent money from her life to get it, and intended to use it for the purpose she had built it, inspiring fear. Slowly her head turned and looked at the armor, disassembled and lying on the couch, bearing a true meaning to her; the meaning itself left Sheila partially thankful that the girl had taken time to remove it and create this unseen symbol.
The armor, as strong as it was, wasn't properly assembled, and thus it seemed to represent Sheila and her own cause...being poorly assembled and planned out. She shook her head slowly and placed her hand against her forehead.
"It's fine...I'm just concerned about what happened..." She paused for a second as she started to recall memories of what happened, while trying to avoid the painful ones. A serious advantage she had to this however, was the ability to imagine the events in third person, allowing her to see her own flaws. "...I didn't mean to try and attack you..." Her voice was weaker, lacking motivation and strength that it had held before.
Pandora Lorrain - December 12, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
Chi smiled at the younger vampire, feeling the fear but disregarding it. There was no reason for anyone to fear her. Yes she could kill vampires and mortals alike, but she didn't simply prey on weaker ones. She wasn't a bully. If she had wanted Sheila dead, Sheila would be dead.
Sheila didn't need to die, she simply needed some help. Like some young vampires she had been stuck in this world and was all alone. Her sire abandonning her. Chi was perhaps one of the lucky ones, she had had her sire, though had not understood what she was until it was too late.
Chi approached her and sat down on the bed. "You shouldn't feel shame little one. We all make mistakes, even one as old as me. We lose control, do things that we don't mean to do. It happens to everyone." She hadn't made a mistake in a while, but she was mostly extremely careful.
Chi laughed softly, her voice amused. "You didn't mean to attack me? Then what did you mean to do?" She paused her face changing. "Attacking an older vampire is never a good idea, they'll do things that will surprise you. Keeping that in mind is always a good thing."
Blackjackal - December 12, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
Seeing the small smile, it was enough to get Sheila to lower her paranoia a little. Usually getting into another fight was bad, so Sheila was partially willing to listen to any comments the girl had to say. Without much question, she simply listened as Chi spoke.
"You shouldn't feel shame little one. We all make mistakes, even one as old as me. We lose control, do things that we don't mean to do. It happens to everyone."
Usually when you attacked somebody that originally intended to help you, you would end up pretty embarrassed about it. It wasn't really a matter of losing, but letting a bad day linger into her method of survival. She had been upset at every creature in existence because of the one thing that made her different from humans, the one thing that would make other humans fear her.
Clearing the mental drawing board, Sheila began rewriting her strategy, and was now more willing to listen. Looking back up towards Chi, She began wondering why the Vampire had wanted to help her. Again, the paranoia thinking for her, questioning the motives of every generous action.
"You didn't mean to attack me? Then what did you mean to do? Attacking an older vampire is never a good idea, they'll do things that will surprise you. Keeping that in mind is always a good thing."
Sheila heard it, hoping that the words didn't mean anything regarding the powers she had seen in the alley. If there were more vampires with different powers...then it would be hard for Sheila to find and kill the sole vampire responsible for her newer life.
"I needed to feed, and you got in the way..." Sheila spoke lightly, despite the fact that Chi didn't seem to anger easily. "...there are a rare few vampires that I actually enjoy being around, when one comes around and starts bothering me without a reason, I tend to get upset." She then clasped her hands together, setting them in her lap and thinking more bout the past events.
Pandora Lorrain - December 13, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
Chi could see the woman think, clear a mental board in her mind, try a different approach, perhaps even listen to Chi. That would be a good idea to start. She was paranoid, which irritated Chi a bit, but everyone was afraid of her even if they did not need to.
"You do not need to be afraid child, I'm not going to hurt you." Chi never hurt anybody unless they deserved it, and this one definitely did not deserve it. She was confused and had no idea where to go from here. Chi was willing to teach because she had nothing better to do. Besides she couldn't let a young vampire go rampaging across town, other vampires wouldn't be happy. Some were quite territorial.
Chi saw the thought. "Most vampires have similar powers. Those are composed mostly of speed and super strength. From then on, it pretty much varies. Some can even pull the iron out of your blood. That was one thing that I was never gifted with. You don't want to take on an old vampire alone, they can be quite nasty." She had helped Nikki rid herself of one. She had been a sadist, torn the man's mind to shreads, leaving not even a simgle part of him alive. She had killed him and had no remorse for doing it.
Chi laughed amused. "I was in the way? That was no reason to attack me. I was kind enough to return your helmet once you were done feeding. I didn't even bother you, until you were done. I wasn't in the way. You simply needed to lash out to someone, I was the lucky chosen."
Blackjackal - December 13, 2006 03:11 AM (GMT)
For a moment, Sheila had remained silent, partially distracted from what was going on around her. About a few seconds after, her muscles seemed to lose tension and she began to relax a little more.
"You do not need to be afraid child, I'm not going to hurt you."
The words, seemed to have some truth to them, partly because Sheila wasn't dead yet...meant that she was either being fooled into accepting a fake gift...or the girl actually meant to be kind...again...paranoia at it's finest.
"Most vampires have similar powers. Those are composed mostly of speed and super strength. From then on, it pretty much varies. Some can even pull the iron out of your blood. That was one thing that I was never gifted with. You don't want to take on an old vampire alone, they can be quite nasty."
Sheila lost some hope in the matter, and began to think about the fact that vampires were naturally fast healers. She once more despised the fact that she wasn't as good at healing when compared with other vampires, something that would probably be easily exploited to defeat her. Despite this, she trained almost each day to increase in other abilities, physical for the most part. Whenever she got the chance, she worked out to increase her agility...but progress seemed to slowly decline as more time passed by.
"I was in the way? That was no reason to attack me. I was kind enough to return your helmet once you were done feeding. I didn't even bother you, until you were done. I wasn't in the way. You simply needed to lash out to someone, I was the lucky chosen."
Chi was technically pressing buttons as soon as she refused to leave, but at the same time...Sheila was suffering from depression and a couple of other mental issues. Although they didn't affect her normal self unless people really tried to bring out the worst in her. Again another flaw seemingly revealed itself, her inability to remain patient with those who sought to instigate a fight.
"I've been having trouble with a few things recently...with the need to consume blood...and at the same time it doesn't seem right." She stopped and thought about it after talking. The idea of her drinking blood from human beings...seemed painful to say the least. Unlike most vampires...she had suffered from killing to gain blood...but again..another flaw presenting itself.
Pandora Lorrain - December 13, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
Chi sat down on the edge of her bed and looked at the other vampire. Her feet weren't touching the floor, she was that small. The woman was paranoid and had other things bothering her. "Perhaps I can help you accomodate to this different life. I've lived long enough to know that sometimes getting used to the changes can be painful."
She shrugged her delicate shoulders, her eyes missing nothing. "I offer the help out of the goodness of my heart. I like to help younger vampires get use to the new changes. So many get abandonned these days, vampires seem to lose all responsability. Someone has to pickup after them." She shrugged again. "I really don't mind, especially if they are interested in being safe."
"That's perhaps the biggest dilemna of all. The uncertainty of drinking human blood. You don't have much of a choice, but you don't have to kill the person you feed from. If all vampires did, there wouldn't be a single soul alive today." She paused. "There is also dead blood, that might help. If you are interested in something simpler and not as tasty."
It was up to her to decide. Chi was willing to teach and to help, but Sheila had to want that help and want to learn. Chi couldn't do everything for her. She was only a vessel, that had the experience of old age.
Blackjackal - December 13, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)
Sheila's eyes seemed to follow Chi as she sat down on the edge of the bed, something that seemed to make Sheila slowly pull her feet closer to herself, as if they weren't safe.
"Perhaps I can help you accommodate to this different life. I've lived long enough to know that sometimes getting used to the changes can be painful."
Sheila had barely considered help from anybody who might have been or wanted to be a vampire, mainly because the first usually tried to get something out of it while the second didn't even know anything about it. Instead, she simply listened, focusing on what Chi was saying. It was important, obviously, and that usually meant that something good might come out of it.
"I offer the help out of the goodness of my heart. I like to help younger vampires get use to the new changes. So many get abandonned these days, vampires seem to lose all responsability. Someone has to pickup after them...I really don't mind, especially if they are interested in being safe."
The truth behind the matter seemed to become more clear, although lacking any real evidence to back it up other than her being alive...seemed to remain their...tainting and blackening the promise slightly. However it wasn't a noticable black...just a...nevermind, Sheila brushed the distracting thoughts away, attamting to refocus.
Dead blood...wasn't that the same as the blood in the hospital? She thought about it for a few seconds, remembering the blood she had been stealing up until about a week ago...ever since then the local police force had employed an Agent from somewhere else to investigate it. The whole thing wouldn't be a problem...but it seemed as though that despite the internal change, vampires looked almost exactly the same as they did when they were mortals...a situation that would probably end up getting somebody killed...
Being left in the streets to fend for herself sounded much like the strategy she'd have normally employed...but with the offer of help, life seemed to show the possibility of being easier. For once, she'd have a chance, but the chance would be like an education, hard to get.
"I..." she paused, her voice seeming a little stronger than before. "...I'd like..." slowly the words came out between short five second pauses, a clear sign of being nervous and unsure. "....I'd like to learn."
Pandora Lorrain - December 13, 2006 05:51 AM (GMT)
Chi could see that the woman was tense and that she shifted as Chi sat down. She was frightened and uncertain, Chi would probably have done the same in her case. She was a paranoid little thing though. She had been trying to gain her trust all evening. Yes they had fought but it was nothing unheard of, besides Chi hadn't even fought all that hard. If she had the young vampire wouldn't be comfortable in a bed.
The safety to many younger vampires were vital. It was like a parent protecting a young child and that was what Chi believed her part to be in this world, protecting young vampires not only from older vampires, but also from themselves.
Chi smiled. "I'm glad that you want to. Is there anything in paritcular you would like to know first. You must have many questions."
Blackjackal - December 13, 2006 06:08 AM (GMT)
Sheila watched for a second, observing and attempting to understand what the response of the old vampire would be, and within a matter of seconds, she got one.
"I'm glad that you want to. Is there anything in paritcular you would like to know first. You must have many questions."
Sheila was interested in many things, mostly based around the idea of getting faster and more agile. At the same time, she was interested in the ability displayed back at the alley, however something like that seemed more reserved for the older of the vampire race.
"I don't think I'm in any position to decide what I should learn, I'm actually unsure of what I can learn..." She was being honest about it, with the fact that being a vampire was relatively new to her still. In the streets, all Sheila really had was her agility, and even that proved useless against the older vampire she had attempted to fight in the alley. "...I'd assume that you would know more about what I need to learn."
Pandora Lorrain - December 13, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)
Chi looked at the other vampire her head tilted to one side. She brushed her long silver hair over her shoulder. "Well there is much to teach and usually younger vampires have different areas of interest." She paused her eyes half-closed. "WEll you are interested in revenge perhaps we could start with that."
Chi took a deep breath. "I'm a really old ancient. Ancients are vampires that have reached at least a millenia, though some claim that ancients are actually two millenia, though either way, I would still be an old ancient." She hesitated then continue. "The source of our power, would probably be a vampire known as the father. WE don't know much about him and no one has quite seen him in awhile. He's 30000 years old. And that is very old. I wouldn't want to take him on. He's probably also insane, another reason to stay as far away as possible from him."
She hesitated. "All vampires, as I said earlier, have different powers. As vampires grow older, they gain new powers. Some range from mental skills such as telepathy, to more physical skills such as jumping long distances. The are also the elemental that fight into this. I have an uncanny ability over air, that mixed with telkinesis can pretty much make me do whatever I want. Again all vampires are different. There isn't much else to that." It was pity that she couldn't give a direct answer to Sheila.
Blackjackal - December 13, 2006 06:34 AM (GMT)
The story seemed short...but certainly not disappointing. Sheila listened closely, soaking in the information until it ended, leaving her suffering from a mix of emotions. A small park of anger seemed to appear in the back of her mind...but not towards Chi. The anger itself was more focused towards the fact that Vampires were different...a small annoying fact that would probably prolong Sheila's learning.
Even though it seemed like a lot to take in, Sheila had managed to store it away mentally, and keep it on hand for future reference. For now, a history lesson would also probably be the only thing they could do, with half the night come and gone already. To go outside near morning seemed foolish...and left Sheila without anything to do other than listen closely.
"I'm wondering what my abilities might be...would you have any idea?" Sheila asked as politely as possible, remembering that she was in the household of somebody and could easily be removed at the smallest whim. Like a child, she wouldn't be able to do anything against it either.
Pandora Lorrain - December 13, 2006 06:42 AM (GMT)
Chi raised an eyebrow. "As young as you are my dear. you wouldn't have any abilities. Except perhaps feeling a bit stronger and a bit faster then you would as a mortal, but besides that..." Chi shrugged. "It taked time for powers to come. You still learn more as you age. As much as it may seem difficult to understand, think of vampires as mortals. All mortals are different, they all have different talents hidden somewhere, vampires are the same. We only live unnnatural long lives and we still discover new abilities as we age."
Chi paused, remembering her youth. "I didn't learn anything until I hit the 200 mark. I could shadow-walk. That's the ability of using shadows as a means of transportation. I used to scare my sire shitless with that one. She couldn't shadow-walk. She was a hell of a telpath though. Things she could do, were sometimes frightening. Then she was older than me and had more experience as a vampire, so I deffered everything to her."
