Title: Winter Weather
Description: blows. Quite literally.
Vanessa - March 6, 2004 05:04 AM (GMT)
A comfortable silence had just fallen over the table, the table with the pretty raven-haired woman and the man in his early thirties. His eyes were occupied with the small technical device in his hands, and the woman busied herself by watching the people walking outside of the cafe window. It was some small shop that popped up like wildflowers these days, brewing coffee and serving everything from donuts to pastries. Quite convenient to take shelter in when the percipitation fell, or the wind blew.
And they were doing both tonight. A miserable night, you could hear the it pounding on the concreate over the conversation inside the establishment. That was when the wind wasn't screeching like a banshee. A few hours earlier it had been snowing horribly, but that had slacked off into a mix of hail and rain by now.
In spite of the weather, the clothes of these beings were dry. The man wore a leather jacket, still buttoned. His baggy black pants weren't important, and neither were the gloves cast aside on the table. The woman wore a white collared blouse and black pants. She had a black crocheted sweater to keep her warm, and tossed over the back of her chair was a long purple jacket.
"Beowulf.."
"Yes, Hannah?"
"Nothing."
Nope, nothing. Just a smile. She loved the fact that he answered her. Though any normal person would. But he gave her attention. Whenever she asked for it. He didn't simply answer her, he lowered his palm pilot and looked her in the eye.
"Beowulf?"
"What, darling?"
Ahh.. she had missed this!

God, could it GET colder.
Colton heard the newsman. 'Light snow today! The temperture should be around 26 degrees, so take a coat.' He had grabbed a coat, and gone to class. Which was not unusual, but the fact that he actually participated today struck people as odd. In the local college, all 65 people in his English class spun to see what new kid in their class had decided to voluntarily share their short story about the death of the King in Macbeth. Voluntarily! And from the boy who NEVER spoke.
Made a mental not never to speak again. People came up and actually wanted to talk to him. If he remembered correctly, he didn't do the socializing thing. That was Codi's gig. And quietly left when all his classes were over. And got caught up with one thing, then another, then another, and now it was dark and raining with hail and he couldn't even walk fast because it was so frigid.
Boots crunched through snow, face shileded from the rain and hail. Fancied he heard something, and was tempted to look up and check. A blast of wind averted his eyes from where he was looking a last time before he bumbed into someone. Mumbled an apology, and continued on, much the same as ever. Get home, make a fire, hot chocolate... And, god, was he getting a cold?
It couldn't get any colder.
Vanessa - March 6, 2004 09:36 PM (GMT)
"Bo?" Another hesitant question made out of his name.
"Hannah, what is it? What do you want?" Though he faked frustration on the outside, on the inside he was growing concerned. She kept calling for him, but when he answered she drew away. Though she smiled, she seemed to have someone to say, seemed to need something. And he didn't know what it was. She shouldn't need anything, not with him here.
"I don't want anything, Bo.. I'm just foolin' around." She replied with a laugh. "You're tense, are your stocks down?" She teased.
"No, I haven't checked them all evening. I told you, tonight was Hannah-time."
"You haven't had a chance to sneak away and get a paper, you mean." Another tease.
"Yes." Came the reply.
"I'll go get you one, I've been staring at that thing the entire time we've been here!" She pointed out the window, at one of those short little newspaper dispensers. And with that, she jumped up and hurried out the cafe.
"Take your jacket!" He called after her, but all she heard was the bells above the door tingling as it shut. It was cold, but she almost always was.
She hurried across the street, digging into her pocket for change as she went.
Skirr - March 7, 2004 12:46 AM (GMT)
Colton heard the jingle of a bell, and watched a woman flee across the street. Avoiding the rain and going to retreave something? Looked at the cafe. Oh, cafe! Hot chocolate? With whipped creame and marshed mellows? Well, at least whipped creame...
The door jingled again, and a throughly drenched Colton stepped inside. Stood at the door, on the mat, letting himself drip off. Ran a hand over his hair to slick off the extra water, twice, three times. Shook his head, his hair sticking up in new directions and looking rather dorky. Combed it down with his fingers, and whiped the water from his face. Hung his jacket on a coatrack, whiped his shoes four or five times, then crossed into the actual cafe.
Colton quickly scanned over the occupants: an old woman, a man in his thirties with a palm pilot, and two college girls. From his school. They waved, he made an effort to smile and wave back. These wern't those typical giggly ones, either. The kind that actually went to college for an education. Considered sitting with them, if they asked him over. First, getting his hot chocolate.
Stood at the counter, and ordered. Asked if they put whipped creame on, and the girl working smiled and said she'd put some on. Nodded, paid, received his changes, and put the actual loose coins into the tips jar. Didn't like loose change. Watched her pour him a cup, and put on the whipped creame. Smiled, because this was something that truely made him happy. The little things. Thanked her again, took his cocoa, and looked around for a seat.
Vanessa - March 7, 2004 03:45 AM (GMT)
It was then that the door jingled again, and Hannah blew in with a gust of cold air. The little paper machine had been freezing, the cold metal had bitten into her fingers and made it hard to open it after she had inserted all her change. And the change slot itself had iced over, she was certain she had paid with as much ice as she had with quarters.
She stood there shivering and dripping for only a moment before Bo stood up. He reached across the table and picked up her purple jacket. Walking over to her with a few long, easy strides, he threw it over her shoulders and pulled it shut. "You little dumbass.. I told you to take your jacket." Then, holding it with his hands, he pulled her into himself, as if to warm her with his body heat.
"Ugh, Bo! You're getting the paper wet.." He released her again and she stepped back, pulling the paper out from under her damp cardigan. She tossed it at his chest, and it made a satisfying 'glump' sound, to which she turned and flounced back to the table. For some reason she was such a flake with Beowulf. Such a little girl. He came back to the table just as she was pulling on the gloves he had set aside, humming a little tune as she did so.
Pure bliss.
Wait a minute, she knew that wet man with the hot chocolate in his hand! "Colton!" She called out. Her voice was shocked, but happy. And the guilt stirred itself up again.
So much for pure bliss. Time to be miserable with her little secret again.
Skirr - March 7, 2004 03:54 AM (GMT)
Watched the unidentified woman come in, and the man go bring her her coat. Stepped away from the counter and the line, and took a sip of cocoa, eyes on the couple. Hearing them. Watching them. Hearing him call her names. Awww. Watching him hug her. Awwww. And her say a name. Bo. No... Not THE Bo, right? Yes... THE Bo. That was Hannah. Inwardly cringed, grateful he wasn't fond of diamonds. Prefered the hemp things he made for himself. Wasn't wearing any currently, though. Tried to sneak off somewhere near the back of the Cafe, and heard his name. Great.
"Oh... Hey Hannah. Fancy seeing you here..."
Not looking at Hannah. Staring at the man beside her. Who, in Colton's mind, could probally kill him with one hand. Another inward cringe, and an attempt at a friendly smile. Now, did he lie, say he was late to go somewhere, and get back into the rain, or did he stick around. Took a step towards them, and another sip of cocoa.
Vanessa - March 7, 2004 04:14 AM (GMT)
"How'd Codi?" She asked, deciding it best to ignore the fact that Colton seemed occupied with staring at Bo. She didn't read his mind this time, but the vauge emotional charges coming from him were discomforting. "Oh, excuse me, y'all. Colton, this is my friend Bo. And Bo... This is Colton." Be nice, she wanted to add, but didn't. She just glanced at him, shot him a look. A plea.
Which was enough to get it through to Bo. Hannah wanted him to behave, did she? Well, fine. He'd be polite. Although it was odd that this mortal seemed wary of him before they had even spoken to each other. Hannah was telling stories about him, no doubt.
"Hullo, Colton. You'll join us, won't you?" He said aloud, his voice deep with a faint trace of an accent which was hard to distinguish. Italian, maybe. A little French, perhaps?
Skirr - March 7, 2004 05:54 AM (GMT)
Colton grimaced. Codi, yea...
"She's fine."
Nothing more. Nothing more needed, because that wasn't the topic anymore.
"Hello Bo."
Smiled, and offered a wave. Looked from Bo, to Hannah, back to Bo. Vampires. Both of them, and then him. Took a drink of hot chocolate, burning himself. Didn't let the pain register. Too afraid of what Hannah could do, of what Bo might be able to do. She could read his mind. What said this Bo guy couldn't? Who said that Colton could clear his mind of all bad thoughts? Because he couldn't.
"Join you... Ummm... Sure..."
Looked to Hannah, then towards the floor. Didn't like the idea. Hadn't she promised she'd never hurt him? Yea, she had. Visibly relaxed a bit, and took another sip of cocoa. Averted his eyes.
Vanessa - March 7, 2004 05:05 PM (GMT)
This awkward little mortal began to irk Bo. He wouldn't bother to read Colton's mind, he wouldn't find it important enough. He eyeballed Hannah, chastising her for her pick of company. She ignored him, keeping her attention on Colton.
"Um.. perhaps you'd rather sit with those girls over there. You know them, don't you?" Hannah prompted, glancing behind him at the table where the two college girls sat.
She had absoulte faith that Bo would be on his best behaviour, but Colton seemed so uncomfortable that it nearly broke her heart. Maybe this was why she didn't have many men in her life. They were all so bothersome if they happened to be brought together.
Skirr - March 8, 2004 12:17 AM (GMT)
Colton threw a glance at the two girls in question. Did he even know their names? Nope. That wouldn't work. Looked to Hannah, and shook his head. Looked to Bo, getting a rather negitive vibe from the man. Had Hannah said something about him to Bo that would make him upset? Maybe. He hadn't said anything to Colton. Maybe he had read his mind. Ooooo... Creepy.
"No, I'm fine. Unless you'd like me to go...? I wouldn't mind."
Asked to Bo, not to Hannah. Because she might be up for him hanging around, but he wasn't afraid of her smashing him into little bits and pieces. Held the cup in his hands, didn't take a sip this time. Not nervous and shaky now, but cautiously testing the situation. Held his gaze with Bo, deciding subconcsiously that he already made a bad enough impression, and looking away might make it worse.
Vanessa - March 8, 2004 02:34 AM (GMT)
Bo kept Colton's gaze, maybe he wasn't such a wuss after all. And the guy did lose his boyfriend, Bo had lost enough people to appreciate that. But STILL... He glanced over at the reason for this odd situation.. And she seemed to know what he was thinking, whether she had read his mind or just knew him too well. She had told him about Jake, after all. She had asked his advice on whether or not to tell Colton. And now, knowing he was making some decision, she pouted slightly.
Sighing inwardly, he looked back at Colton. "No, I wouldn't mind the least. Please, pull up a chair." He reached to the right and pulled an chair from an empty table beside them, bringing it to add to their own.
"And no, I'm not reading your mind.. You have that look mortals take when they're wondering that. " Bo added, and further explained. "Now, this one.. She's the one who interupts thoughts. Terrible habbit, but I'm sure you know that already." As he spoke about her, Bo reached out and took Hannah's hand. He brought it to his mouth and kissed it, then playfully opened his mouth wider and play-bit her knuckles with his fangs.
Saying two messages, effectively. A reminder of what he was, and that Hannah belonged to him. She, blind to this, laughed and tugged her hand out of his grip. Bo let her, and looked again at Colton.
Skirr - March 8, 2004 03:15 AM (GMT)
Ahhh. Yes, he could sit. Took a seat, rigid until the ice broke. The topic of immortality and vampires verses his own mortality. Nodded. Yea, so Bo wouldn't read his mind. That was a bonus. And Hannah was still closer to him than Colton had been told previous. Well, that went and ruined a lot. Wait, no it didn't. Because... Well... Maybe.
"Sorry... Still not entirly used to the fact that there are vampires... Last week, I was expecting to run into a unicorn or fairy or something else straight out of Fantasy Land... Now, just knowing that there are vampires all over gives me the creeps."
Didn't mention that he hadn't had the creeps up until about 2 minutes ago when he realized Bo was Bo and this might not be pleasant. Took a sip of cocoa, and kept his attention on Bo. This wasn't all that painful, really.
Vanessa - March 8, 2004 09:51 PM (GMT)
"We're a rather large populace," Bo agreed. "If you knew how many of us there actually were, you'd probably die of fright. I've never met a unicorn or fairy," He continued. "But I'm pretty sure I glimpsed a leprechaun in Ireland once. Little bastard got away before I realized what he was."
Hannah rolled her eyes, having heard this story countless times before. "So, Colton, what are you studying in college?" She asked, tilting her head in interest, awaiting his answer.
Skirr - March 9, 2004 01:40 AM (GMT)
Colton smiled a bit, and nodded. Thinking, 'Great... Those exist too...?' and glance back to Hannah. College... Gee, what was he studying...
"Basic stuff... Mostly sciences, though. I like science. Biology last year, chemistry this year, next year physics, then maybe some advanced science classes in there too."
Loved science. Hated math, liked english, was ok with history, if the teacher wasn't a snore.
"Did you ever go to college or university...?"
Because the convo couldn't just die off into silence.
Vanessa - March 9, 2004 01:49 AM (GMT)
"No," Hannah said with a laugh. "Silly boy, schooling wasn't wasted on women when I was your age. And Bo was too busy fighting in the Colosseum, weren't you?" She said, shifting her attention back to her companion before he got too jealous.
To this question, Bo simply shrugged, though he dipped his head once in a type of nod. He didn't really think about his mortal life so much anymore. Not that he'd forgotten, he just.. Didn't think of it. The women in his life were causing too much trouble to think of much else.
"But with all those sciences perhaps you'll be able to study us in a few years, tell us what's keeping us alive when by rights we should be dust now." Bo commented. "Study me." He corrected. Like he'd let anyone get near Hannah with needles or microscopes or probes.
OOC| *ponders* I may have to re-do Bo's history.. I've been adding to it, and I don't think some things work with each other. And if I make him older, as I'm doing, I think I may have to change his name. Beowulf doesn't really seem ancient Rome-ish... Eeps! |
Skirr - March 9, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
((OOC: *Snicker* Beowulf... *More snickering* Oh, don't have anyone say that in front of Colton, or he might just crack up and get crushed... *Snickersnicker*))
Like Colton'd go anywhere near Bo with pins and needles. Even if that would be his profession.
"Actually... I think I might be a falconer. I've always liked birds. Don't like blood. Or needles, either."
No, no labs, no needles, no blood. Mentally shuddered, when he remembered they had to drink the stuff. God, he could never do that. Well, maybe... Maybe... But not by choice.
"And you fought in the Colosseum? Whoa... How old are you two?"
Vanessa - March 9, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
OOC| *smack* I like the name Beowulf. So does Bo.. Although I am changing it now.. To something more ancient Roman. ARRRRGHHHH!!! I don't want to do my fucking math assignment... *growls* | | Woah, way to switch moods so quickly.. |
"I told you!" Hannah cried, indigently. "Don't ever ask a women her age, it's rude." She was quite the paradox, really. A vampire sensitive about her age.
Bo laughed at her, shaking his head.
Skirr - March 10, 2004 02:20 AM (GMT)
Colton blinked, and sighed. Right. He forgot. But... Well, they HAD to be old. Would do the research later, just so he had an approximation.
"Right... Sorry, I forgot..."
And avoided looking back at the table. Fresh out of topics, and all of a sudden, the cup of hot chocolate in front of him seems quite amusing. Picks it up, lo9oks it over, takes a sip, looks back. Avoids looking at Bo or Hannah.
Vanessa - March 10, 2004 08:14 PM (GMT)
"I'm still not as old as he is," Hannah said, glaring at Bo. "He's ancient. I'm just.. old." She finished with a sigh, shaking her head. She had nothing left to say, and so looked back out the window once more. At the snow, and the rain..
Bo would contribute nothing further, he liked making his mortal feel uncomfortable. He noticed then that Hannah was still wearing his gloves. "If your hands are cold, Hannah, I'll get you a coffee to warm them up." He stood up before she could answer, but waited until she looked up at him and nodded vaguely before he excused himself and went to the counter.
"I told you Bo wouldn't hurt you." She said to Colton when he was gone, keeping her voice low. But whether it was a sort of melancholy or to keep him from hearing, it was hard to tell.
OOC| I remember typing that Hannah took off his gloves, but I don't think I actually posted it after.. And I can't find it, but if I did, just disregard the first time I posted it. =D |
Skirr - March 13, 2004 04:09 AM (GMT)
Colton nodded. Didn't think Bo would, anymore. Just the first minute and a half of hell... That's all. Oh, and the little power struggle there, that Colton was so not going to get involved in. He valued his life, thank you very much. If he was lucky, he get to live...
"COLTON!"
... A whole 'nother minute. Codi barged in, disturbing the peace of the cafe, and stomped straight up to Colton. She didn't fair the weather any better, soaked, and dripping. Glaring needles at Colton, who shifted uncomfortably to face her.
"Oh... Hey Co--"
"Don't 'Hey' me, mister! Where the hell have you been? I have been looking all over for you! ALL OVER! ... Hello Hannah... Oh, I see..."
Colton blinked. Nodded, still looking completely confused.
"Ummm... Codi...? Would you like some hot chocolate...?"
"No, Colton! I'd like an explanation! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? Out in a cafe with you're little girlfriend?"
"She's NOT my GIRLFRIEND. And SHUT UP."
Now the owner was glaring. Oh, them and their voices. Both loud, booming if they really wanted to be heard. The two college girls were whispering and casting glances at them. Mutter something about thinking they knew Colton. Great. Grabbed Codi, and marched over to the door. Outside, under the little awning. Glared at her. Glared, and said nothing. What was he to say? 'You might have just pissed off a really old vampire who is gonna come out and kick my butt, and I might die.' No, because he had made special care not to tell her there were vampires about. Because he knew she had the bigger mouth. Knew she'd blab.
Vanessa - March 13, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
Bo had been the only person in the cafe not to react. He stayed with his back to the table, waited until the coffee had been set in front of him. He paid, left the change from the fifty he passed over in the hands of the waitress, and returned to the table. He set the cup carefully down on the table, it was such a shallow noise after the vibrations of their voices.
He said nothing. He remained standing. He cast his glance from Hannah, to the pair in the doorway, and waited for the explanation he knew would come.
"That's his apparently angry twin sister." Hannah said apologeticly. No answer.
"But at least she's not drunk today.." Still no answer.
"Bo, please!" She was upset this time.
"Fine." He said coldly, and sat back in his chair.
Now she was frantic. "Don't you dare! Don't you dare.." What she was forbidding was uncertain to anyone watching. But she knew how angry he must be, for him not to say anything upon returning.
Skirr - March 13, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Codi caught his glare, and crinkled her nose at him. Made a face so that he could get more and more angry, then do something. What, yell some more? She liked yelling matched. Maybe he'd break something, like that vase. Maybe her face...? No... Maybe we shouldn't make faces.
"... Don't be so grumpy, Colton... I have been looking for you for hours, and find you here with her."
"Hannah is a friend of mine, and I accidently ran into her here. Did you HAPPEN to see that GUY right THERE?"
Pointing, all too obviously, through the door at Bo. Not looking at him, glaring at Codi, but you could catch the gist that he ment Bo.
"THAT is her boyfriend... or ex... Or I don't even know. All I know is, you've probally put me in a rather bad situation by saying LIES. Because I could get my BUTT kicked."
Codi looked over at Bo, she, herself, not being subtle. Staring flat out at him, lips twitching into a smile. Looking back to Colton.
"He's hot, too."
"... Sorry, I wasn't looking over that factor. I was rather worried about the muscles, and the anger, and the... And that fact that he could squash me."
Codi wasn't listening anymore. Was back to staring at Bo, back to ignoring the fact that her brother was tugging on her, because it was cold, he was unnerved, and home was a couple blocks away.
Vanessa - March 13, 2004 05:04 AM (GMT)
Hannah was worried now by that smirk which appreared on Bo's face. She desperately tried searching his mind, but his age forced her out and she could only stare at him.
"Bo, if you leave them alone I'll be nice to Lily." Ouch.. She was pulling out the big guns. Offering friendship to she who came before her. Something unheard of, really. But Hannah had promised Colton that neither she nor Bo would hurt him, and she extended that protection to his sister.
Bo seemed like he was going to take the bait. She thought he actually may get up and leave with her.. But instead, he leaned over the table to hiss, "You'll never meet her, anyway." Another smirk, and he left his chair to go to Colton and Codi.
He pushed through the first door, but stood held it open with one hand. In this enclosed space, his height and his presence was more apparent then it had been in the more open cafe. And his scent, a hint of a spicy cologne which Hannah herself had picked out for him long ago, came with him. "Colton. Perhaps you should bring your sister inside the cafe, so Hannah and I could explain why we kept you for so long. It's really our fault, you know. You mustn't be angry with him." He addressed this last bit to Codi, looking down on her with a smile.
Skirr - March 13, 2004 05:47 AM (GMT)
Colton saw Bo coming. Cringed inside, because this HAD to be it. He HAD to be coming to kill Colton, and one more futile tug on Codi was given. Gave up, was tempted to say he had to leave, and rush. Remembered he couldn't outrun a vampire, so, instead, sucked himself up and waited. Waited... For nice Bo?
Codi nodded at Bo, and looked at Colton. Oh, his lucky day that the hot guy was standing up for him. Looked back at Bo, and smiled.
"Oh, I won't be. He just had me worried... I'm Codi."
Extended a hand to shake, not because it was polite, but because she had some sort of girlish fantasy dancing in her head. 'Oooo! This way I'll get to TOUCH the hand of the hot guy...'
Colton ignored her, and looked past Bo to Hannah. Maybe Bo was just acting nice? Maybe Hannah could hint him to go or stay.
Vanessa - March 13, 2004 07:09 PM (GMT)
"I am Bo, and more then pleased to meet you." He took Codi's offered hand and brought it to his lips, a quick little act of chivalry done as smooth as to seem charming. It mirrored the action he had taken with Hannah, although this time his fangs were unseen, unfelt.
Without letting go of her hand, he opened the door wider and gently led her inside once more. "I'm also glad you're not angry with Colton, I'd feel horrible for getting my new friend in trouble."
Behind him, Hannah sat helplessly. She caught Colton's look but shook her head, shrugging. She knew nothing of what he was doing. She tried to smile to ease his concerns, but she knew he would probably feel her uncertainity.
'He will not harm you or your sister while I am here, I promise you!' Her voice was gentle in his mind, just a whisper which he would notice, but would hopefully not un-nerve him.
He didn't need to know she had no control over him.
Skirr - March 13, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
Now THAT was one way to make Codi go spineless. She smiled and blushed, nodded a few times, and followed him back in.
Colton sighed, and followed them in as well. Of course, plopped himself in a chair as far from Hannah as possible, making Codi glare, because that ment she wouldn't be able to sit next to wonderful Bo. He scooted over a chair, and let her take the one opposite Hannah. Scooted his own chair away from Hannah, closer to Codi, feeling rather obvious, but not all too comforted by her words. She didn't look comfortable. And what happened when she left? Didn't wanna have to witness that.
"So, Colton. How did you meet, and become friends with, Bo?"
Codi was smiling and look way too happy for herself. Colton looked at Hannah, then back to Codi.
"Let's just say... I was here... and they were here. And Hannah introduced us."
Nodded. That was the truth.
Vanessa - March 15, 2004 07:55 PM (GMT)
Bo took the chair left by Codi and Colton. He turned his body to face Codi, giving her his attention and ignoring Hannah. "Yes, that's basically it. Your brother doesn't do too well in social situations, I'm afraid. Little conversation out of him." He said with another one of those crippling smile. "What about you?"
A little war was going on while this was happening, a silent one between the minds of the immortals. Bo seemed perfectly fine, still handsome and charming, but Hannah was distracted and agitated.
Suddenly, however, she brightened up and said sweetly, "Bo may I borrow your cell phone please? I want to call my friend Silken, she should be in town by now. You know Silken," she continued, "she's the one who travels all over the world."
"Yes. I remember." He stared at her for a moment, before taking the phone out of his pocket and handing it to her slowly. What the hell was she up to?
"Thank you. Excuse me now Codi, Colton.. I'll be right back. Behave yourself, Bo." She said this in a tone which would seem teasing to Codi, but Colton would probably be worried that she was leaving.
Skirr - March 16, 2004 12:48 AM (GMT)
Crippling, but lucky her, she was sitting down. Nodded.
"Oh, I know. He couldn't even hold a conversation with Jake for very long, at first. Don't you remember that, Colt?"
Tried to ignore that. The nickname, and the mention of Jake. Focused his attention on the table top, trying to tune Codi out.
"Yea... But that phase passed. Soon they didn't even need to talk, because they'd just see each other and then--"
"--Shut UP Codi!"
Glaring at the table, not wanting to look at anyone, very aware that he had to be a nice pretty shade of red by then. Listened to Hannah, and the red just sort of drained out. Paled him, because he knew what Bo might do. Eyes locked on her, and watched her leave. Squeaked out an ok, and looked back to Codi. Oh, great. He couldn't even tell her to watch out for Bo because she was too interested in staring directly at him. Practically drooling.
"Er... Right. So, Codi... You want something to drink?"
"No, no thank--"
"--No, Codi. You MUST be cold... Come over to the counter and I'll get you something..."
"Ummm... How bout you just get something for me?"
"... Ok..."
Because the original plan had been to drag her over there, tell her a few little need-to-know facts, like, Oh! 'That guy you are drooling over is a vampire.' 'That guy you are drooling over is going to kill me.' 'That guy you are drooling over is OFF LIMITS.' Instead, he stood and went to hide over by the counter.
Vanessa - March 16, 2004 02:07 AM (GMT)
Hannah had fled to the little awning where Colton had taken Codi. She could be seen through the glass, she held the phone close to her chest as if someone would be looking over her shoulder. Once she had searched through the numbers saved on the phone, she placed it to her ear and held a very short conversation. Extreamly short. After which she angerily snapped the phone shut and walked back into the coffee shop.
Bo seemed to barely notice Colton had left. "It amazes me, really, how two people can look quite similiar yet be so completely different. I mean, I am guessing your different from your brother, from what I've seen of you. I think I'd need to see more to truly know." He said with a little smirk.
Hannah had noticed Colton at the counter, and passed by their table to get to him. And was in time to hear Bo's last comment. Was that a sexual innuendo?! Hard to tell.. Damn him! She was angry now. And just a teeny bit jealous.
So she was sulking when she reached Colton. Her pretty pink lip jutted just a tad outwards. "You don't have to worry anymore, I've taken care of it." She assumed he'd know what she meant by 'it.' He'd better damn apperciate it, too. She'd have to see a snotty little bitch now. But she figured, 'Hey, I killed his boyfriend already. Might as well keep his sister alive.'
Because it was Codi now. Codi who was in physical danger, not him. That was the way Bo worked. He didn't have to kill ya to kill ya.
OOC| I'm.. sorry if this post is long and ramble-y.. And if it doesn't make sense. I'm very tired.. |

Oooo. Codi loved sexual inuendos. And especially one that was directed towards her. Especially one from a very attractive one. Pretty eyes, strong build, five o'clock shadow. Mmmmm... Scrumptious. Smiled, and leaned a bit closer to him, lowering her voice.
"Well, you see, one difference is that he is so hard to get rid of."
A hint back to the sexual inuendo? One that Colton couldn't hear, and, thus one that Colton didn't like the sounds of. Looked to Hannah, and nodded. Sure, she had taken care of it... If they could keep things here. Colton had a feeling he wasn't going to get into any business with Bo. Knew this, because Bo didn't even seem to care that he was over here with Hannah and obviously not ordering something for Codi to drink. That ment he wasn't the target. That ment that Codi was.
"Hannah... Can you hear what she said? I have a bad feeling..."
Bad feeling that this 'help' had better hurry, because, all though he cared about his sister, he wasn't about to die for her, and then have her die too. No, he'd much rather let them both live.

"They're hitting on each other," Hannah said, folding her arms tightly to her torso and turning back to the counter. "I hate him!" She whispered. Her voice was hoarse and her face was set, but her lip began to tremble.
She couldn't cry here, not in the middle of the coffee shop. She wouldn't make a scene, either. "I don't know how long it's going to take for her to get here.. I don't even know if she's coming tonight. She could be here now if she really wanted to, but she'll probably come on a plane like a mortal."
"He's hard to get rid of, is he..?" Bo repeated, glancing over to Colton and Hannah's hard back. "I see.. But, are you hard to track down, that's what really counts."
Skirr - March 17, 2004 03:15 AM (GMT)
Colton grimaced. No, that was definatly not good. Though he hated to admit it, she only did the one night stand thing. Which sickened him. Almost as much as the thought of having to wake up to Bo in his house. Uhg! Shook the thought from his conscious to his subconscious.
"So she's a vampire...? And, what? Stronger than him or something? Or attractive and will lull him off Codi...? Or... Or what."
Looked at Codi, watched her smile, and ponder something he said. Codi leaned back a little, still speaking in a low tone.
"Oh, not too hard. I'd give you my address, but I have a feeling you and Colton aren't all that good of friends. He looks a bit skiddish. Maybe he thinks you are as fine as I think you are."
Oh, ooops. Did she let that slip? Guess so... Did she care? Nope, not really.
Vanessa - March 18, 2004 08:48 PM (GMT)
"She's the one I was groomed to replace. The love of his very long life. So, yes.. She's attractive.. She may not be as old as Bo, but her strength is a match for his. He wouldn't be concerned about that, though. He'd be more likely to fear her bitchy-ness." She said all this in a flood of words, as she stared unblinkingly down at the counter.
"Well, I'm flattered.. But honestly I find your interest more exciting," Bo almost coo-ed. "I could always give you directions to my hotel.."
The door was flung open once more, and another female joined the ever expanding population of the small cafe.
And what a female!
She was of average height, but those legs! And her blonde hair.. It had been combed into a bun only a moment before, but strong wind and deft fingers had pulled it out. It now fell down around her shoulders.
Her coat.. That was the centerpiece of her outfit. It was a lovely black velvet number, and had embroidered flowers all over it. Quite feminine, very lovely. Her black pants weren't important.
But damn right, she's attractive.
Bo had stopped talking when she entered. He didn't need a line of view with the door, he could tell who had entered. So could Hannah. Instead of remaining straight with her back to the door, like Bo, she whirled on her toe to face her 'enemy.'
Skirr - March 19, 2004 03:44 AM (GMT)
And, yes, the general atmosphere was 'Who is THAT gorgeous thing?'
Colton, blinking, feeling a bit ashamed for being so stunned, but unable to help himself. Codi, sizing the other blonde up a good deal, noting that fact that she was probally no comparison for that girl. The subject of the one night stand had rapidly vanished. She now had her eyes locked on Hannah, because she was the sure cause of this. Because she was jealous. Damn her.
Colton looked away from this new arrival, and kept his eyes on the floor. She was here to help, not to be gwaked at. And anyway, Hannah had never spoke highly of her. And he liked Hannah. Thus, kept his eyes on the floor.
Codi spoke first.
"Hannah, may I talk with you a moment?"
Stood up, glaring. This was the cellphone calls purpose. This horrid girl that was a thousand times better than her. And she MIGHT have had a chance if she hadn't shown up. Though Bo had not moved, Codi had caught on. She was rather bright when it came to things she wanted.
Vanessa - March 19, 2004 08:06 PM (GMT)
"J-Just a moment, please Codi.." Hannah faltered as the blonde started towards her. As she came up to Hannah, she took her elbow and the two drew off to the side. Far enough away to keep Codi and the rest of the cafe from hearing, probably not far enough to keep Colton in the dark.
"Well, I'm here.. I assume these are the two you want kept alive?" Lily spoke softly, looking over her shoulder at Colton and Codi.
"Yes!" Hannah snapped. "They are friends of mine.. His sister doesn't know what we are.. So keep your mouth shut!" She spoke with poison in her voice.
"You know, darling, you've been hostile to me ever since we learnt of each other's existance, and this is the first time we've met face to face." Lily pointed out sensibly.
"I have good taste." Hannah shot back.
"You asked for my help. And I'll give it to you.. Not because I want to be nice, but because I'll enjoy taking the last living thing you love away from you. Now go talk to the girl, but don't cry.. She doesn't what we are." She turned Hannah's words around to wound her, which they did.
Hannah left the little conference and hurried towards the table. "You wanted to talk to me, Codi?"
Skirr - March 20, 2004 03:32 AM (GMT)
Colton was not in the dark. As a matter of fact, he strained himself to catch every word they spoke. And wanted to turn around and punch this blonde. Taking things Hannah loved from her? How dare her. Oh, wait, no... We are talking about Bo. Go on, take him!
Codi had wandered towards them a bit, and she caught Colton's glare. It was cold, but not threatening. There was too much love and worry in it. Awww, he was worried about his sister. How wonderful. Hannah and the new blonde finished talking, and Hannah came back towards Codi. Codi gave a slight glaze, and spoke in a harsh wisper.
"Oh yes, I hav a bit of an issue with yo--"
"-- Codi, hush. You don't have the slightes--"
"--No, Colton. You are just jealous because I--"
"--No way, Codi. You are all wron--"
"--No, Colton! YOU are!"
And a few more harshly whispered words back and forth. The two college girls were making a swift exit, and finally, Codi was silenced. Her brother held a menacing glare, and really wanted to drag her home. Just leave. Maybe that'd be best? But it was still raining. Just drizzling now, but still cold.
Vanessa - March 20, 2004 03:40 AM (GMT)
Lily watched, amused, as Codi began to rip into Hannah. She listened to the conversation between Colton and his sister until an awkward little silence fell. She took this oppertunity to enter the conversation and do what Hannah seemed unable to do. Give a reasonable explanation.
"Dear.. Codi, is it? Codi, dear, you seem to misunderstand the situation. Hannah here was afraid for your safety. Let's just say that our Bo isn't the best choice for a young girl like yourself. She wasn't sure how to handle the situation so she called me."
"Would anyone care to consult me on this matter?" Bo said, low and firmly, without moving from his chair.
"No." Both Lily and Hannah replied, glancing over at him and back to Codi. They were oddly similar, really.. Their tones and the way they brushed Bo off were the same.
Skirr - March 20, 2004 04:15 AM (GMT)
Codi now turned to address the blonde. The hopelessly prettier than she could ever be blonde.
"Listen, lady, I appriciate it, but I can handle myself, alright?"
"No, Codi... You don't understand..."
Something in his tone made him sound tired. He didn't need a fight again. Didn't want one, either. Wanted to go home. Could anyone understand that? Codi looked back to him, and sighed.
"What don't I understand, Colton? That this seems to be a conspiricy? What do I not know?"
And Colton just shook his head. Didn't want to tell her, but felt he had to.
"You'll see... Soon."
Because something was bound to happen.
Vanessa - March 20, 2004 04:27 AM (GMT)
Lily rolled her eyes.. Another mortal who thought she knew everything.. It got repetitive after a few decades. "Something's going to have to be done, Hannah. You seem to have made a mess of things, now I know why you don't socialize with people more often."
"Would you just.." Hannah bit back an insult, and seemed at a loss for what to say. She simply sighed and motioned towards Bo.
"What am I going to do, take him back to New York with me? I'm still angry he left me in Havana with thirty dollars and a beach towel... To see you, no less."
"I have that effect on people."
"You're fast losing my sympathy."
"Bo didn't do your witty repartee justice, you know that? It's even more annoying then he described."
"Well surprises all around, hmm? I'm shocked that you actually get my witty repartee. Bo made you out to be a lot dumber."
Hannah didn't know what to say. Again. Damn, what was with the speechless-ness tonight? Why did this woman take every reply she could make out of her? Because she was everything anyone ever wanted her to be, that's why.
"You see, dear," Lily said, returning to Codi. "This is why you shouldn't get involved with Bo."
Skirr - March 20, 2004 05:51 AM (GMT)
Colton snapped first, Codi right behind him.
"She's NOT dumb."
"You're not the boss of me! I'll do what I want if I want to. And anyway, it isn't involvement."
Both were glaring at Lily. Wow, the lady had been here five minutes, to settle an issue, and look. Now everyone wanted to tear her throat out.
"Listen... Codi, you DON'T want ANYTHING with him... And, you, blondie girl, could you do anything? Just... Anything. Whether it is back to New York with you or not, just..."
"Wait... She didn't come from New York. That's like, a long ways away."
"Not now, Codi... Just, please, get him outta here?"
Said quietly, though he figured Bo could hear him. Codi was growing angry, with the fact that everyone seemed to know what was going on, and she hadn't the slightest idea.
