Title: Drowning Out Sorrow

Gabriel - February 28, 2004 08:47 AM (GMT)
Dizzy had found a small place to sit in a corner of the club. He had ordered a small beer not seeing the point in drinking to much. His hair covered his eyes as he sat looking at his drink. He still didn't see why clubs were so popular. The only reason he came to these places was to get a few drinks and feed if he felt the need too. His left hand had a tight black glove on while his right hand's glave had been taken off. He didn't like being in crowded places but tonight was differnt. He had awoken from about five hundred years of sleep.

Ah white mice....a godly establishment in the midst of peons. She may not have existed in this place long but she'd already taken an emence liking to the esablishment, as it had to her. The people looked with admiring glances at her marking, the bartenders chatted her up and the euphora of the place was enough to make any sensualest swoon. They loved her mismatched style her to pale skin, the way she flashed her fangs in a smile, perfectly willing to belive whatever they did with a sweetly bemused expression and promptly forget a few moments later. Here she could dance, sing and laugh, nip a bit of life blood and no one would seem it odd. More then that...they seemed to embrace it, embrace her. She loved it.

With a sweet little purr of a sound she leaned over the bar, calling the bartenders attention, a dear-soul whom had taken to calling her Cat, and waited for him to reconize her and make his way over. It took longer then usual, dressed not in her to-sweet child like dresses but now in denim, boots and an odd little jacket type garment, black and long sleeved that went down to her knees and tyed once bettween her breast. When the male finally smiled in memory she settled against the side of the bar, smiled in a preditory way to scare off the unwanted attentions of some then gazed about the room, staring wistfully at the dancefloor for a moment and at the people there. Lithsome little hard cores with silver in there skin and rebelion on there brains grinding to a beat they could never understand. She wasnt sure weather she wanted to join them or be sick at the sight. Smiling as the bartender came to her, dark burbon in a glass he gave to her and a kiss she gave to him in excange. His blush was almost instant and she laughed to relax him. Patting his cheek in a sisterly fashion she sent him off to do his job. She shruged as he walked off, settled herself on a stool and siped the hard liquor, enjoying the burn as it went down.

Dizzy's thoughts were too strong for him. Ever since he had awoken sometimes he would forget how to control his vampiric powers. He settled his thoughs and let them fall to the mortals all around him. He found it strange that in this time mortals got so close to vampires and yet never knew they were their. Strange how the dark gift was spreading like the plague as more and more of his kind were made. He never thought it was wise to make too many vampires. More vampires more likly for them to be noticed and revealed to the world. His glass cracked. He had be concentrating to hard agian. He had to stop thinking about these kind of subjects. His powers were to sensitive for him to even start to concentrate. It was really quite a bother always having to relax and change the subject. He decided it best for his thoughts to go onto the mortals mind. He started to read a few choice mortals minds. Opening there heads like books. Most of it was rather boring though a few had interesting parts but even thoughs wern't very good. His eyes went over the female in denim. He started to tap into her mind not relizing she was a vampire. It was to crowded for him to sense her so he had not a clue what he had done when he went into her mind.

Faethne - March 4, 2004 04:11 AM (GMT)
She had been enjoying it, the blaring white noise, the hard taste of burbon and the heat coming off of the bodies around her. To her it was a beautiful riot.
Then something crashed past the first barrier of her mind like shattering glass and things went red.
She drew a hard sharp breath through her teeth, eyes closing, sharp nails biting down hard into the wooden bar top. She didnt even notice as her glass fell only to shatter on the ground. It was instintual for her as she strengthend her second inner barrier against what ever foolish creature had blundered into her mind like a herd of elephants.
She quieted herself, relaxed her body, relaxed her mind, let the creature sift through the outer section of her mind, let it see day things and and simple plans. Dirty memories and little white lies. Everything that lay on the outer sect. She was gentle on her tracing of the mental line, traced it back. Barely made a whisper as she brushed into the offending mind, steped with butterfly kisses through both outer and inner sects. Silly bit barly had a barrier...but then again...she was very good at this. She caressed mental strands to get what she wanted from his mind.
A vampire? Oh rude, rude, rude...he should have known better, looked closer, ah well.
Slowly retracting herself from his mind, following the same foot prints as she'd used to get in. Settled back in her own brain.
As she opened her eyes again, staring at him, finding him easly from across the room. She traviled the thread again, a cat like smile on her lips.
Ther was nothing gentle about it this time.
It was like a bolt of dragons and lightning and blood into his brain. A nasty shock, but more of a repremand then anything and with that same little smile she waged her finger at him, tsking quietly with pouted lips as she forcefuly shoved him out her head.

He attack had dazed him for a moment. He hadn't expected that at all. Had he been in his prime ihe would have been more prepared but at the time he's powers where just coming back to him one by one. After fighting off the daze he muttered not loud enough for any mortals to hear or even many inmortals. "Diffinetly a vampire. I should be more careful." Hepulled his legs up into a meditary position. He was just relaxing now. Out of site for most rarely saw him. His powers recalled into his body and his mind sentered itself slowly. He wasn't sloppy when leaving however. Tracing perfectly out of all the minds on the same path he went in. He had forgotten how painful it was to have your mind broken in.

Faethne - March 4, 2004 09:25 PM (GMT)
She sighed a little to herself, settling back against the bar when a light touch drew her attention. The bar tender, looking worried and a little wary, another glass of alchohol in his hand for her. She smiled at him her fingertips lightly brushing his cheek as she crooned to him, it was more or less then best comfort/reasurance tactic she knew. Watching him smile back at her no longer worried she shook her head at the dark liquor he brought her, No longer in the mood to drink.

She waited another moment, waited untill he was called away before she went off into the crowd, weaving artfuly through the bodies with little efort, a skill one acuired from frequenting in such places. She touched the few she knew, passed out smiles like favors and odd little looks to those that frowned at her. She'd never understand most human agression. Passing into the Others personal space she settled her self on a chair beside him, proping her elbows on the table and foling her hands together as she watched the floor a moment, her voice quiet enough only for his ears. "That was a rather silly thing for you to do..." Her smile was feral but still mild as she turned her gaze to him, "Never know just who might deside to break everything in your head on your own li..." She stoped and frowned a little sniffinf the air then tilting her head off to one side "You smell like decay and a few centuries dust....you just woke up didnt you...?"

Gabriel - March 5, 2004 04:38 AM (GMT)
"Does it show that much? I do know I shouldn't just scan minds for no reason but i havn't been thinking well these past few days." That was an understatment. He had been doing a horrible job at some of the most simple of task. He was lucky he could even read minds right now. He was worn out from just reading the mortals minds around him. He hadn't opened his eyes as he could sense her now. He was still troubled by how he smelt it could give away him so he wished he could hide the smell more but he didn't think he could.

Faethne - March 5, 2004 06:01 AM (GMT)
She looked him over once, then twice before shruging to herself. "Dearie....I wouldent worry, unless theres some crime from sleeping the time away. And the smell of dust isint going to make even the loonyest mortal suspect you if thats what your thinking..."

She cocked her head to one side, watching the Other with mild intrest. Goddess he seemed young...young and insationably weary of what she couldent guess. His shoulder stooped his hair hung lank and even the lids of his eyes seemed grey to her. None of that made her more comfortable so she turned her chair around, stradled it and folded her arms on the back, the proceeding to use her arms for a pillow as she continued to watch, brush apon emotions and freely exposed thoughts before lettling out a little sigh. "Some thing about you seems a little off...are you well? how long have you been awake now...?"

Gabriel - March 5, 2004 07:05 AM (GMT)
"Well i've been awake for about two weeks now. I'm not really sure if i'm well or not. I don't think we cane get sick so i don't think its some sorta virus unless theres one that even effects us now. I'm sorta.......trying to keep ahold on my sanity. Times change but we don't. I heard the plague was over. Now America has been settled. We've been to the moon. Examined the stars. It's to much to take in at once. Its the last time I go to sleep." He was extremly stressed and he knew to anyone who saw him he looked nearly dead. Like a walking corpse, which is almost what he was.

Faethne - March 5, 2004 07:34 AM (GMT)
She relaxed a little at this, though perhaps his panic was not something to relax to. So this was what was wrong, this was what had happened, he'd slept through all the change and upheaval, the creature had missed some of the most important discoverires and blunders man had ever made. He'd slept through War, fammine, mass imigration and social democricy. The womans liberation, the equal rights movement, the industral revolution and the space race. Through politics and problems and mass histera...she could understand the confusion.

With a soft chuckle she reach ofe and lightly patted the top of his head, feeling rather content and compantionable with the Other and more then a little sympathetic. "Aye...Im afraid you've slept through some of the most hectic and changing times humanitys ever had....silly bit."

She continued to laugh softly to herself, her chin resting lingth on her re-folded arms, eyes quiet and half lidded as she watched him. "If you want my advice, take as deep a breath as you dare, find yourself a nice meal then get your sorry little rear over to eather the library and read as much as you posibly can on everything, find someone willing to sit down for the next few days and tell you everything they know or play it by ear and hope you dont fuck up..."

She flashed him her best, bright smile, fangs and all though it held some sarcasim "I hope you dont get trampled my teeny-bopper anne rice fans if you do."

Gabriel - March 5, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
"Yeah I geuss i could do that. I have all the time in the world I geuss." He cracked his knuckles looking around the room. He wasn't sure if he should feed or not. He wasn't exactly....in good shape to hunt. He could easily charm someone into trusting him but that was aginst his code. Yeah he knew it was stupid to stick to a code when his he was losing his mind. He geussed a cat would help him look normal once again instead of looking half dead. Maybe he could find livestock around. He didn't think so but he could be lucky. He streched yawning. "Well it was.....interesting meeting you." He rubbed his head. "Sorry about intruding on your thoughts."

Faethne - March 6, 2004 03:37 AM (GMT)
She watched him quietly, wached the thoughts and emotions flit across his features as easily as he had sifted through mortal minds. He needed to get his defences up. Taking a glance over her shoulder she noticed the bartender was watching them like a worried older borther. What an odd little bit he was...

Her attention was suddenly drawn back by his movement, watching him stretch then settle again, her head cocked to one side, an odd little expression on her face before she sighed and got up, folding her arms in the small of her back and slowly shaking her head. " Aye..it's has been a....Interesting meeting.." She gave him a softly sarcastic smile "I supose I should put this out as a curtisy, if you need help settling...feel free to ask..thats an open but one time curtisy. Use it when you wish."

Gabriel - March 6, 2004 05:54 AM (GMT)
"Your gonna regret that one of these days. I'll use it when and if i need it so don't be surprised if i show up out of no where." He gave one long sigh before standing up. "Well i must take my leave. I can't really say it was fun meeting you as my head still hurts. I must see if i can find a cat or if i'm lucky some livestock." He would've bowed to her as he had in the past but saw no need too. He started to walk out slowly. When he past the bartender he paused and smirked at him. No fangs where shown but he had noticed that the bartender had been watching him.

Faethne - March 6, 2004 07:51 AM (GMT)
She shruged at his comment, it ment little to her. Her curtisy was something she freely bestowed when leaving a first meeting, it made for interesting reuinions. Watching the slight social questionmark with a bit of a smile, she instead bowed her head a little, eyes never leaving him before moving aside to let him pass. The bartender watched him anxiously over his work but blinked then recoiled a bit, busying himself with glasses as he realised he'd been spoted, throwing Fae a puppy eyed questioning look. Oh dear...this would mean ether trouble and disease later on. She flashed him a sheepish smile, lifting her shoulders in a shrug before making her way back across the bar, mind already turning to other things.

Gabriel - March 6, 2004 11:54 PM (GMT)
He left without another word.(I would say more but not much else to say. Sorry for not giving you anything more to read.)
