Title: Bloodrush To The Head
Description: Wee!
Skirr - February 20, 2004 06:16 AM (GMT)
The question was not, why was he here, it was why was she there.
Codi and Colton had gotten into an arguement. She said he had to be more social, he said she needed to understand why he didn't want to be out. She demanded that he drop that morbid subject, he said no. She said, 'Screw you', and stormed out of his room, and he went back to sleeping to pass the time.
About two hours later, she said that her friends called. Friend, she said, friends that wanted to go have fun. And they were going to the White Mice nightclub. This made him bar the door with himself, demand that she pick a more appropriate location. She told him to relax, she wouldn't drink or do drugs. She never did. But Colton didn't want her to go. Finally, she ended up slapping him, telling him that if he didn't want a life, fine, but he wasn't going to ruin hers.
So now she was out at the nightclub, and he was sitting in a theater. The show had been cancelled, and no one was here. No one, except Colton, oddly assembled on a chair. His legs were drapped over the top of the chair, his head resting on the floor. Blood had rushed to his head about fifteen minutes ago, and he was feeling dazed and it was really starting to hurt. Why he was sitting uncomfortablly was because it kept his mind off Codi, off Jake. Maybe if he stayed like this long enough, he'd passout, fall off the chair, break his neck and die. Oooo... Goals. Let's wait and see...
The janitor was the unfortunate one to find Colton. Well, the boy was alive, but passed out, flush-faced, and hot to the touch. Janitor assumed drunk and sleeping the night in the rows... Whatever. Picked him up, propped him upright in the chair, and left. With five more dollars than he had had before. Colton found this out upon awaking, but didn't so much care. He hadn't died. Shame. Sat in the chair, staring at his feet. What to do with the rest of the evening... Sleep. He could sleep. But it was so early... And Codi wasn't home yet. How did he know? The theater was near enough to the club that he'd be able to hear her and all her little girlfriend exit. They were loud... You couldn't miss them. And all he had to do was wait.
((Reserved for Hannah!))

OOC| *waves* I'm heeere! Sorry I took so long.. Now I've just got to figure out how to introduce Hannah... |
Hannah was buying weekly passes. To go with the season balcony tickets for the Ave Verum Concert Hall she had purchased last night. At least, she was supposed to be buying tickets. She had forgotten to call earlier in the evening and ask for them to stay open a few hours later for her. Amazing, really, how many stores would do that. All it took was a sizeable purchase and a few twenties beforehand. That was how Hannah always did her shopping, what other way was there?
She was stocking up on passes and rentals and schedules, all in an effort to have something to do when Bo got bored. Now that he was in town, Hannah wanted to keep him here for as long as she could. Which was why she'd now happily venture into the White Mice with him or sit through an opera for him. Strange, really.. She wasn't in love with him anymore, but still she wanted him to stay with her. The only thing she could figure was that she was lonely.
This was what Hannah was thinking when she found the doors to the front office locked and the little 'Closed - Please come again' sign on the door. Sighing, she tried to turn the doorknob once more in vain before she turned and looked out the windows to the darkened night outside. Instead of stepping out, becoming one with it once more, she decided to try the door which lead into the actual theater.
And found it open. Which was also strange. She pushed it open and slipped inside, to the dim lights at the end of each row of seats. She decided she'd pick the seats they would have now, so she would be ready when they asked her at the front desk. She moved surveyed the large room, and began to walk up the aisle.
Skirr - February 22, 2004 05:10 AM (GMT)
Colton hadn't been expecting the doorknob to open. Hadn't been expecting someone to come in. Wanted to shout at them, tell them this place was closed. Closed so he could brood all by himself. Then again, he'd probally be asked why the hell he was here. 'To let all the blood rush to my brain and drown it... And then die by snapping my neck on the floor...' seemed a little too creepy. Here to think about a dead boyfriends murder? No... Too many homophobics lived in the area. Just hope they didn't see him? Maybe... Who was it?
As if Colton knew. Turned and looked anyway. Girl Familiar pretty face of a girl... Hannah. That was her name. The chick he made cry last week, who told him to smile more. Who told him he was tiring. Maybe he should try dying again... That way, he wouldn't make her cry again. Maybe just smile and say hello?
"Hey Hannah."
Put on a smile, which actually seemed a bit more genuine then what she had gotton last week. Hell, a lot more genuine, and a lot less depressed. Maybe all that blood gave him long-term memory loss? About frickin' time. He stood from his seat, and shoved his hands in his coat pockets. Maybe she worked here and was gonna kick him out...? Damn. He had been enjoying the place.
Vanessa - February 22, 2004 10:00 PM (GMT)
Hannah was startled when a voice spoke to her from one of the seats. She spun around and stared at him, and was startled once more when she realized it was the boyfriend of her tastless murder. She stared at him for a moment, before deciding to take the advice offered to her only a day or two ago.
"Hello, Colton.." She smiled sweetly, her voice warm. The whole deer-in-the-headlights air slipped off of her to be replaced by a shadow of her normal Southern charm. Of course, he wouldn't know it was only a shadow.
"You nearabout scared me away. What are are you doin' here?" She asked as she walked a little closer to him.
Skirr - February 23, 2004 01:01 AM (GMT)
Colton held onto his smile a bit longer, and then let himself go back to looking, not depressed an mopey, but stern and serious. Back to the straight face that he had to have worn all too often for that lack of lines that would designate him as a worry-wart or a happy being.
"Sorry... I didn't mean to startle you. Here... Because there was going to be a show tonight. But it cancelled."
Leave out the whole part that that show was a good three hours ago, and would have been long over by now if it HAD been on. Leave out the fact that he had made a rather pathetic suicide attempt that would never have worked. Leave out the fact that he was stalking Codi, making sure she was home ok. Leave all that out. And not have to lie to Hannah.
"What are you doing here?"
Same question, and not spoken in a way that accused her of being here late. Well, a bit, yes. But a lot more curiousty than accusation.
Vanessa - February 23, 2004 01:39 AM (GMT)
"I see.. I came to buy tickets," Hannd answered casually. Apparently she didn't know the schedule for the theater, otherwise she probably would find it odd that he was here so late. "A friend of mine is in town so I want to make sure we have lots to do." She added. Nevermind that the friend was an ex-boyfriend, that was a long story and had nothing to do with the conversation.
"Are you alright? You look like you've been layin' out all night." She noted, refering to his rumpled, slightly sleepy and still un-happy look. She stopped a few seats up from him, and slipped into the last seat in the row. She sunk down into the chair to a comfortable degree, and leaned to the left, resting her elbow on the armrest and cupping her chin in her palm.
Skirr - February 25, 2004 03:44 AM (GMT)
Buying tickets. For a friend. Very nice of her to care. Wish he had friends. Wait, no... No, he was happy with Codi's group most the time. Most the time... He tried smiling, and nodded.
"That's nice of you. Good friend, I assume."
Great. So his smile failed. She could still see through it. Like last time they met, when she could read all his emotions. Maybe he was easy to read. Maybe she was extra adept at reading people? Colton sighed, and took a seat in the chair in front of her. Looked up over the top of it and took a deep breath.
"Same old, same old. Codi and me had a disagreement, and now I am sitting here waiting for her to get home. Well, not home, but go past. And then I'll go apologize..."
He shrugged. No big deal. Just Codi. No Jake? Maybe a little Jake. Less of him, though. Why? Maybe the blood really HAD messed with his mind.
Vanessa - February 26, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
"Great friend. Ex-boyfriend, actually." She said with a quick little smile, attemped to keep the situation from becoming weird. "At least you apologize.." She added. "When Bo makes me mad he just takes me shopping, like that solves everything."
She couldn't see his emotion tonight, she was too far lost in her own. A few moments before she had been happily running around to keep Bo satisfied, but now she was growing.. angry. Or sad.. Some sort of mix between the two.
"He took me shopping yesterday, because I was angry we hadn't spoken in so long." She looked down at her hands and pulled off her gloves, revealing a glittering ring and bracelet. The same type of sparkle could just be detected at her ears, beneath her thick black hair.
"He must have spent at least ten thousand. In diamonds." She was rambling now. For no good reason. And what would Colton care? "Of course, diamonds. Don't you think that after twenty-two years someone should know that you prefer emeralds? But no.. he bought me diamonds. Diamonds were her's." She seemed ungrateful at the lavish gifts, with the air of one who recieved them often. But there was more to it then that. Some actual wound had been inflicted on her, and it was opening again now in front of Colton.
Well, at least she wasn't crying.
Although it was odd.. She said Bo had known her for twenty-two years, but the first time she met Colton she told him she was twenty.
Skirr - February 27, 2004 03:47 AM (GMT)
Colton wasn't quick to cathc the age. She hadn't been specific, he had said twenty-ish, she said yes. Twenty two was her age? Good to know. Stored that off in some subconscious corner of his mind. And an ex-boyfriend? Seemed like everyone had one of those. And DIAMONDS? Lots of money... And Hannah was complaining? Spoiled, perhaps? Said nothing about the diamonds. Ignored them with a complete happiness. More interested in the Bo guy.
"Oh... How long has it been since you last saw him? And... A she? An ex of his... That cheated with him on you or something?"
Well, so much for privacy. She started it, with her ramble. The way she spit out 'her's' seemed reason enough to ask. Cheating was annoying. Colton wouldn't deny the fact that Jake had been a bit flirtatious. With girls, mostly. Made him hurt to see it. Lots of girls. Course, he was rather attractive. He had managed to use that and a bit of charisma to entice most the girls in an area a night. That's why Colton hadn't been with Jake when he was murdered. He'd been flirting with some girls, and Colton lost all reason to his actions and simply left. Jake didn't follow, and that had hurt. The next morning, the police were in his face. And, god... He regretted every step he took from that door, that night.
Vanessa - February 27, 2004 04:33 AM (GMT)
Once more, she was too caught up in her own sordid affair to be sensitive to Colton's emotions. It seemed the Southern Belle was cracking up more then usual. There was something about Colton that made that happen to her. She realized this through the small part of her mind which remained rational while the rest of her being went off on a tangent.
"Thirty years.. That he simply ignored me in, couldn't stoop to forgive me for taking off at dawn." She spat that out, too. Bitter, anyone?
After a second, she sighed, was more weary then mad. "But no.. Bo never cheated. He isn't like that, no matter how angry he makes me. Lily was, and still is, the love of his life. I was only ever a replacement for her, another little doll he could dress up and take care of."
She shook her head, biting her lip. "You know what, I don't want these." She said defiantly, slipping the ring off her finger, the bracelet off her wrist. "Give them to Codi. Tell them they're for the argument earlier." She reached inside her short, belted trench coat and pulled out a necklace, also diamonds. Another quick movement brought the earrings from her ears, and she held them out to him. "Here."
Skirr - February 28, 2004 07:29 AM (GMT)
Now Colton's brain was working. She had clearly said thrity years. And twenty two before that. She was lying about her age, and it wasn't all that obvious. To a deaf person. Colton made move to say something, but was cut off with more tangent. And then the jewlry, to which he blinked and shook his head. In a no thank you and utter disbelief sort of way. The hell...?
"Ummm... Hannah...? Are you feeling ok...? You've told me two different facts that don't make sense together... You said you were twenty two. Said Bo hasn't talked to you in thrity years. If that were the case, you never met Bo... Also, I... I couldn't take that. It's make me feel uncomfortable... Like stealing."
Said the last bit with a bit or redness in his cheeks. Didn't want to so openly refuse her gift. Gifts, yes. Still felt like robbery. What did he do to deserve diamonds? Nothing, and thus he wouldn't take them. Couldn't even save Jake's life.
Vanessa - February 28, 2004 04:23 PM (GMT)
"It's not stealing if I'm giving it to you," She replied simply. "If you don't take them I'm only going to leave them here in the theater. I'd rather have someone I know take them than a stranger."
And now at least he wasn't completely stupid. She was worried about that the last time, when she had cried blood and he turned it into mascara. Seemed like math was stronger for him than common sense.
"I've told the truth. It makes perfect sense." She said quietly. She wasn't going to lie about it. That always seemed wrong to her, like it was insulting the intelligence of whomever she was speaking with. Yes, of course she hid her nature when she went out in public, when she was in a large crowd, but if she was talking personally with someone, she rarely ever tried to trick them.
Skirr - February 28, 2004 10:15 PM (GMT)
Colton sighed, and shook his head. She said it'd make her feel better if someone she knew took them...? Then, for her, he'd take them. The diamonds felt cold, her fingers too. He ignored it. He had been inside all night, and she had just gotton in. Pocketed the jewelry, and ignored the weight in his pocket. Light as it was, it was pressing and there. Uncomfortable.
He wouldn't mention the jewelry, but he would mention the age.
"Listen, Hannah... You said that you were twenty two. You said this guy stopped talking to you thirty years ago. It is impossible to meet someone at the age of negitive eight years. You're lying to me about something, and I don't like it... Tell me, Hannah, exactly what is going on here."
Colton didn't mean to come off as rude or mean, but he wanted to know what was up. He didn't like the fact that he was getting lied to by someone who knew him well enough. She knew Codi, she knew they were twins. Knew they had different birthdays, that Colton's boyfriend had been murdered. Which stated, in itself, that he wasn't straight. Didn't like her knowing so much about him, and then lying to him.
Vanessa - February 29, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
"I'm not lying, Colton." She said softly. She felt horrible that he thought she was lying. At least he had picked up on something odd, though. Logical math had prevailed where body heat and bloody tears had failed. She wouldn't have to pretend anymore. Although she had a feeling that he wouldn't believe her, that he would become angry and not talk to her anymore.
"So what if I know you're a twin with a different birthday, or that you're not straight. It's all just trival stuff anyone could find out about you. Please don't be uncomfortable, Colton." She didn't really think this would work.. She hadn't realized that she had read his mind then build her argument around it. She was too used to doing that to mortals, it was a reflex, almost.
Skirr - February 29, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
Now THAT was what Colton didn't like. Hearing his own thoughts being read to him as if he was wearing them on his sleeves. Didn't like that at all. Didn't like this 'not lying' stuff, because she had to be. In all logical sense, she had to be lying. She HAD to be. And reading his mind? How'd she get in there to read it? Colton didn't understand it. Didn't like it. Didn't want it to happen again, so covered his ears with his hands. As if she had seeped into his head through his years.
"Stay outta my head! I can't even keep a damn private thought from you, and it's freaking me out. I also don't like how you are not lying, but not making sense. Explain to me, right now, exactly what is going on here, because anything'd be more bvelievable then what you've pulled."
Pulled his hands off his ears a bit, so to hear her better. She could probally get into his head again. So what.
Vanessa - February 29, 2004 10:05 PM (GMT)
"I'm immortal!" Hannah cried, shaking her head in disbelief. "And I'm not reading your mind through your ears. It's.. actually, I don't know how I'm doing it. But, look.. I might have lied when I told you I was twenty-two. I was twenty-three, actually. When I died and was changed into this, and I'll be twenty-three in body forever."
She was quite for a moment, wondering how he'd take this.
"I'm not telling you how old I really am. But I spent twenty-two years in Paris with Bo, and we had no contact for thirty years after that. So I guess you know I'm over fifty." She shook her head.. She hated admitting her age, even if it wasn't her true one.
Skirr - February 29, 2004 10:21 PM (GMT)
Immortal. That was a word Colton very rarely heard in any conversational topic. 'Specially one discussing age. Hands slowly dropped from his ears, hanging loosely at his sides again. Blinked a few times. Twenty three, in that body... forever? What the heck... That defied everything he'd ever heard. And was positivly funny. Colton grinned. Grinned, and let out one laugh. Cut himself off for a question.
"So, you're dead? A zombie? That... That's just hilarious."
And the boy lost all grip on reality for a moment, and laughed himself to tears, slumping himself back into the chair. Immortal! More laughter. Dead! It HURT to laugh now. A zombie! Bahahaha! A few minutes later, Colton whiped the tears from his eyes, off his cheeks, smiled back at her.
"Of all the things I have ever heard..."
Colton took a deep breath, and looked back at her. She wasn't laughing. His smiled faded, and he spoke again.
"... You're not joking...?"
Vanessa - March 1, 2004 12:19 AM (GMT)
She stared at him coldly, her face set and her expression grim.
"I. Am. A. Vampire." Hannah said, pronouncing each word carefully. She rose from her seat, keeping his gaze cold eyes. She stood there for a moment, staring down at him, and then.. she wasn't there. Colton had simply blinked, quite naturally I would assume, and she was no longer in front of him.
"Do you understand?" Her voice came from behind him now. Sitting at the edge of the stage, legs crossed and arms supporting herself from behind. She was smirking a bit now, enjoying herself.
Skirr - March 1, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
Blinked again... A vampire? An invisible vampire. Where the hell...? Colton spun around to see her sitting on the stage. No, no... Humans didn't more that fast. Vampires did? Vampires don't exist! But... She just, and the blood tears, and the age, and... Oh god... Too much.
"No... No... See... Because... Because..."
Trying to find a reason that explained everything, and couldn't. Colton felt sick. Looked pale. Didn't like this. The mind reading. Didn't like the fast, didn't like the blood. His blood? She was gonna suck him dry! Stared back at her, shaking his head. No, vampires didn't exist. And she didn't have fangs. She couldn't. Had he been looking for fangs? No... But she didn't HAVE them.
"... I... I don't... They can't exist!"
He wasn't stupid, no. All arrows pointed to vampire. Her coldness, never seeing her durning the daytime, the bloody tears. The age, the speed. It all pointed towards vampire. His brain just wouldn't let it click. Colton got up from the row he was in, and stumbled into the isle. Kept his face towards her. Backed up, stumbled, fell on his but. Didn't try and get up. Stared at the rug, and shook his head.
Vanessa - March 1, 2004 01:32 AM (GMT)
Hannah shook her head gently, sighed gently at his shock. She did feel a bit of pity for him, because of his confusion. She slipped off the stage, landing on her feet softly. She walked up the aisle towards him, moving slowly. It was almost like trying not to spook a wild animal. Just kept his gaze, moved softly, kept a small smile on her face and tried to feel gentle.
She finally reached him, stopping on the stair in front of him. "Colton, please." She held out her hands to help him up. They were suspended there before him, so smooth and very white. But inviting, helpful.
"Colton.. calm down. I'm not going to hurt you, I promise." She smiled once more, delibertly showing her fangs. They were much smaller than you would picture in a vampire's mouth.. But they were there none the less.
Very white and very pointy.
Skirr - March 1, 2004 06:46 AM (GMT)
Didn't move. Oh boy, this was it. Colton had fallen for that, probally famous, vampire trick. He should have painted a target on himself. That might have made it easier. Why didn't she just hurry up and get it over with? Didn't want to hurt him... Promised she wouldn't He sighed, and looked between her and the stage. Could he trust her? Hell, he didn't have a choice.
"Then... Then if you won't hurt me..."
Hand offered down. Help him up? Colton met her gaze, but did a double take at her teeth. Correction, fangs. Sharp, pointy, white fangs. And... Wait, something has clicked. Something in coltons mind has clicked. Vampires drank blood. Hannah had said the only way to get all the blood out of a body was to suck it out... Like a vampire. And... And they existed. Didn't take her hand.
"Hannah... Are there any other vampires here...?"
Continued sitting on the floor, and doing nothing to fix the fact that she could be a potential threat. Didn't run, didn't hide, didn't even call the police. Just sat.
Vanessa - March 1, 2004 04:59 PM (GMT)
Since he would not stand up, Hannah sunk down to her knees, to his eye level. Her very movements were different now.. more fluid, connected, graceful. She interlocked her fingers and placed her hands in her lap. She had stopped smiling, and her fangs were not visible anymore. She were not visible when she spoke again, either.
"Yes," She said. Simple enough. "There are many covens in this city, and each contain vampires of a different type. There are also vampires who roam, solitary, with no coven or home."
She blinked, finally.. She looked down at her hands, knowing that he was now on his way to figuring out a vampire had killed Jake.
But would he know which vampire..
Would she tell him which vampire?
Skirr - March 2, 2004 06:21 AM (GMT)
Colton nodded. He had expected as much. Nodded, and sighed.
"I... I think a vampire killed Jake."
Took ya long enough. He nodded again, concreting his statement in all the clues. No site for the body to bleed out, because all the blood had been sucked up. No live hair or skin samples, because vampires were all dead. No signs of struggle, because vampires allured their prey. The two screwdriver wounds... puncture wounds. It all made sense.
"... It had to have been... But how do you tell the police a vampire killed your boyfr-- ex-boyfriend? I mean, they'd probally think I did it and was mentally... screwed over... and... And, god, a VAMPIRE..."
Still in shock,. Still not wanting to believe it. Strangley comforted by this, this fact of vampires. It solved the murder. It all made sense. Did Colton need to know who? Not really. What would he do, anyway? Hunt down some inhuman thing and try to kill the dead? Die trying, most likely. Shook his head.
"... You're not gonna suck me dry or anything, are you?"
And then, back to Colton. Back to Colton with a smile in a few days. Back to the guy his sister thought had died almost ten months previous. BAck to jokes, and a subtle sense of humour. A bit of fear in his subconscious, but if she had wanted to suck him dry, why not do it before? Met her gaze, and smiled weakly.
Vanessa - March 2, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
She seemed about to confess, she opened her pink lips to speak, then closed them again. There was no point in airing her sins if she could be anonymous, if he would get over the murder without a name.
"No, Colton. I told you I won't harm you, and I was telling the truth. You are safe with me."
Safe until he pissed her off. If he didn't flirt with her for the evening and then ramble about his boyfriend on the way home -
Shut up!
He was safe.
She spoke again, her voice still soft and calm. "A vampire did kill Jake. I mean if they haven't found a place where he bled out, or any signs of a mortal murderer." She added, though now she was looking at her hands. "And you simply don't. Don't tell the police. No one will believe you, they'll think you're mad and it'll only hurt Codi more. To see her brother dragged off in a white coat.."
Skirr - March 2, 2004 11:04 PM (GMT)
Safe with her. That felt good to know. Not that he entirly trusted her, but even a lie that sounded sincere was good enough for him. Colton nodded, and laughed at her next comment. Not the cackle from before, and not a happy laugh either. A tad forced. But it seemed appropriate and better than nothing.
"Yea... Though she'd probally agree with them... Probally tell them to get me on every different type of anti-depressent and anti-insomatic they had."
Sighed, and pursed his lips. Looked at Hannah, then back at the floor. Curious. Had questions he felt were inappropriate to ask. Had so many questions. Less about vampires, more about this Bo guy. He'd have to be a vampire too, right? If it had been thirty years since they last talked, and she was still in his better company. Still cared for him. The diamonds seemed to grow heavy, like lead, in his pocket. Ooo... Another question... What did this Bo guy look like, and could Colton outrun him when Bo came to kill Colton for recieving possession of the jewelry? Yes, they felt very heavy.
"... Hannah? Are you sure you don't want to keep these? I don't feel... safe with them."
No, he didn't feel safe. Because he'd like to live past twenty. Maybe even grow old. Not die because he pissed some girl's ex-boyfriend off.

Hannah smiled at his little crack, and looked back up at him. Yes.. Ease away from that topic of conversation. But she felt bad that he thought he had some invisible target on his back with those rocks in his pocket.
"Bo probably won't notice that they're missing. If he does, he won't be angry with you." She assured him. Yeah, right. Bo would be furious. But that's what she wanted, wasn't it? Another screaming match. "But," She sighed, "If you really don't feel safe I'll take them back.. Give them to someone else. I want you to feel comfortable."
She paused a moment, realized she was reading his mind again. "I'm sorry, it's a horrible habit. If you have questions, ask me. I find little offensive. I don't mind talking about my life."
OOC| Ooh.. I was not aware.. You get one right now! *tosses around cookies* I made a landmark! Cookies for everyone! Yay!! |

Something in her words made him rather happy. Not the fact that this Bo guy wouldn't notice, not the fact that he might not mind, though that didn't seem like a truth, and not the fact that'd she'd take them back. No, the fact that she wanted him to be comfortable. Well, she just got comfortable AND warm-fuzzy insides. And a slight smile. Didn't really mind so much when she read his mind again. He gave up trying to keep anything already. He'd probally want to leave soon before less light topic things were read from his mind, as if it was just another open book.
"Ok... When did you meet Bo? And where? And is he a vampire? And... What's your current relationship with him?"
She said he could ask. And he did, along with a few questions that he really wanted to know. Maybe the Bo guy killed Jake. That'd be some kind of twisted. Colton could almost picture a scene with those circumstances, if they ever happened to meet, and Colton hadn't been smart enough to run. Mentally shuddered. Suddenly aware of the cold. Shuddered again.
"Bleh... It's cold."
As if she might be cold too. The boy hadn't brushed up on his vampire recently.
Vanessa - March 3, 2004 09:43 PM (GMT)
"I hadn't really noticed.." Hannah commented, as she looked down at her long winter jacket.
"But I met Bo.. I think it was 1939. Or 1938. I was in Chicago with one of my friends, Isabella. She introduced us. It was probably.." She made a face, deep in though. "Eleven or twelve years after that, that we met again in New York and we started.. seeing each other, I guess you'd say. So obviously, he's a vampire. He's a very old vampire."
She paused again, though it's a natural one. She continues, "Bo took me to Paris to live. But when I found out about Lily, I was angry he never told me before, so I left. I think that effectively ended the relationship. We met little less than a year later, and we made up, but I don't think we'll ever.. be in love again. I mean, I do love him, but only as a friend. You know?"
Well, that was basically the gist of the Bo affair. But what else had he wanted to know?
"Bo looks.. very handsome. He's tall, and he has a tan now. Somehow. He's got the most amazing eyes.. And a permenate five o'clock shadow.. He's just.." She searched for a word, not quite willing to use 'dead sexy' with Colton. "Handsome." She finishes. "But he did not kill Jake, he says he came into town only a day before yesterday, and I believe him. I would have sensed him if he was here earlier. He wouldn't kill you. He wouldn't harm you just for being friends with me or taking my diamonds. He'd probably just.. be indifferent. Unless you hurt me, of course. Then he'd obliterate you. But you didn't ask those questions. I'm sorry again."

Inwardly kicked himself. He had let his mind be too nosey, and forgotten she could read that. Smiled off the fact that he had been speculating the worst, and turned a flushed red colour. God, he'd gone and let himself do that by not saying anything about it too. Like those commercials...
Wanna get away?
Codi did. God, she felt like such a fool that night. How did she do that? She had just had a lemonade. Well, at a bar, and had probally gotten a Smirnoff iced lemonade or something, and drank two of them. Which was probally way too much alcohol for her anyway. And then, everyone went to dance, and she followed. And the guy with the nice face and the hands and the smell. And she danced with him and her friends and his friends, and had a great time.
And, then everything got hard to remember from there on out. Laughter, loud laughter, all at her. She hadn't lost her shirt, and she didn't piss her pants or anything. Why laughter? The nice guy, he didn't laugh. He looked upset. Not at them,. at her. What had she done? Her friends weren't so helpful... They just dragged her out of there. told her to walk home with them. But she had refused. Said she needed to sit down. Her head hurt, and everything was so out of focus. They dumped her and went home.
She wandered in the theatre, around in the lobby, for a while. More laughter from inside. Or was it her head? She ignored it, but had a feeling she should go home. Which door, which door. That one? Or that one? Stumbled to the nearest one. Opened it to see a sea of chairs and lights and not the street and could they turn OFF those lights? Blinked, and stumbled forwards. And found the floor rather comfortable, after the initial 'oooof' oh pain had been uttered.
Colton saw her stumble in, and stood up to try and catch her. God, she was drunk. Why was she DRUNK? They never drank. She never drank. So... Why was she drunk?
"Codi...? Are you ok? Codi, it's me, Colton..."
"Colton... Is my brother."
"... Yes... Yes... He's your brother..."
"He's not hear right now... He's off at home, being depressed."
Colton sighed, and looked back at Hannah. Then back at Codi.
"Get up... I'll walk you home."
And she continued to find comfort in the floor, looking out at Hannah. Oooo... It was that girl from the movies. She'd tell Colton she saw her.

Hannah rose to her feet when Codi stumbled in. She could tell she was drunk; that was obvious when she fell over, but the general disorientation of Codi's mind made Hannah wince, and withdrawl mentally.
Apparently this conversation was over. "I'd better go, Colton. You seem to have your hands full now. And I think I'm still going out tonight." With Bo. But don't add that. Instead turn and begin to walk down the stairs towards the exit.

Colton sighed, and nodded at Hannah. Dragged Codi up. Time to go? Codi's head swam, and she grabbed onto Colton's arm, making some completely unarticulated words that seemed to have a general feeling of protest. The floor had been comfortable. Outside was cold. No, she wanted to stay here. Better yet, go back and ask that guy what the hell happned.
"Yes, have a good night, Hannah..."
"Hannah! I'll tell Colton I saw you once this guy gets me home!"
"... C'mon Codi..."
"Coming... Jeeze... Hold your pants on..."
Hold your horses? Or keep your pants on... Which ever she was trying to say, neither really mattered to Colton. Time to go, before she puked and made him feel unresponcible. Dragged her out the door, Letting her complain that she hadn't had the time to go give that girl the penny she found. Complined till the got back, and he let her pass out in her room, on her bed, with a big glass of water and a few advil. And let himself try and sleep after he was assured she was sleeping.
((Wee, fun. Now what...))
