Title: Pfh. Pathetic.

Shade - January 8, 2004 04:18 AM (GMT)
Jeez. he complained to himself, silently. How many times am I gonna do this?
His eyes locked on his prey, Shade inched a step forward, closing it into a corner.
The only protest it gave was a weak, shrill sound, obviously terrified of it's attacker. He moved closer, trapping it, waiting only until he was sure it had no chance to escape before he moved in for the kill.
Grabbing the large rat around it's stomach, Shade plucked it off of the ground.
"Sorry, little guy." he apologized, yawning. "You're lunch."

Angeliques - January 8, 2004 03:07 PM (GMT)
Angeiliques had been watching from a short distance away on a low open rooftop. Something inside of her laughed, although her pale complextion against the clouded light of the new moon remained still and unmoving. What is he doing? She had seen some do odd things in all of her life, but she had never witnessed anyone corner a rat for their slightly late afternoon meal. I am assuming you would have to have a slightly different taste than I do. She shuddered, hoping she would never be driven to consume such a dirtied piece of meat.

As she had been watching over the edge, something about the man intriqued her, even as he was about to eat the disgusting rat for a meal. Tilting her head to one side, peering down the side of the building she was atop of, she hadn't decided what or who he was exactly. She was new to many in this place, she had been an occupant of the city for quite some time, but she had never been as active as she was now. As she leaned further, a few of the loose pebbles fell from the rooftop, she winced as she watched them fall, almost in slow-mo as she wondered how she could have been so clumsy.

Shade - January 9, 2004 12:10 AM (GMT)
He glanced to the side nervously for a moment before digging his fangs into the rat's body. It squealed slightly but quieted quickly.
His attention completely on his small meal, he barely noticed as the pebbles fell near him, the sound almost muted in his mind, which was mainly concentrated on how hungry he was.

Angeliques - January 9, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
She left him to enjoy his meal, however he did that. Looking away as she rolled her eyes, it had been a long time since her last meal and she too would have to feed soon. She examined the tips of her long ebony colored hair, it would need a cut soon, she would have to remember where her scissors had been left. Turning her attention back down to the man and his meal, she added up that it would not take him much longer to finish, sliding down the side of the building on a ladder, she held her position until he was done or spotted her, whichever came first.

Shade - January 9, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
The rat now drained completely, Shade lifted his head and blinked tiredly, dropping the rat on the ground in front of him carelessly. Turning his head in Angeiliques direction, he spotted her, taken by surprise.

Taking a cautious step backwards, he scowled, his entire 14 year old body ready to take off if she seemed threatening in anyway.

Angeliques - January 10, 2004 11:13 PM (GMT)
She had seen his face, a young face as she stood watching him from about the middle of the ladder, turned, head tilted, studying him still. The way he so carelessly threw the rat away told her that he had no passion for what he was, there was no pleasure. In the end, he had not enjoyed himself while feasting upon the rodent, something about it all caught her eye. He had turned to face her, spotting her even through the darkness.

"You look tired." Her eyes shined softly, even with the lack of light. He had no spoken, she did not wish to startle him. She had that affect at times, when she was creeping about, but she knew no other way. She had been in the world for so long, she no longer wished to draw attention to herself, well, not so easily. Sliding the rest of the way down, she let go, taking a short drop to the ground, brushing her side clean of what little rust had rubbed up against her pants.

Shade - January 11, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Unanswering, he growled low in his throat as a response, his light blue eyes locked on her warily. He contined to take another step backwards, cautious, his fangs bared as if he was trying to discourage her from nearing.

Moving backwards he found himself with his back against the right wall of the alley, feeling cornered now, his growl grew deeper.

Angeliques - January 11, 2004 09:55 PM (GMT)
Angeliques realized that she had provoked this action from him as she had let go of the ladder. Her eyes lowered for only a moments time as she thought of a way to amend the situation. She had come up empty handed, no thoughts in her mind other than the fact that he had grown quite defensive real fast. "I assure you I mean you know harm." She raised her hands as if showing him that she was unarmed and had no intentions of hurting him. "And please, do not think that you can scare me off so easily. Baring your fangs like some savage." Opening her mouth, she showed him her own pointed canines. "You see, we are much the same." Her eyes watched him carefully, she grew more unsure of him, but still she stayed, though she had the powers to go.

Shade - January 12, 2004 12:03 AM (GMT)
Breathing heavily, he slowly closed his mouth, hiding his fangs from her, though he was still growling deep. He shifted his gaze away from her for a moment, scanning behind her and to the sides nervously, defensively, as if someone else might come up and attack him while he wasn't looking.

The look in his eyes seemed more frightened then tough or nasty, like a deer caught in headlights, he was frozen to the spot. He seemed paler then usual, and obviously tense, on guard, possibly a sign that he hadn't eaten well in a while. He locked his eyes back on her, twitching slightly whenever she made even the slightest move.

Angeliques - January 12, 2004 06:21 AM (GMT)
Her eyes stayed upon him, she didn't know just what it was, but he had caught her attention. "Why do you look so afraid. Do I intimidate you?" Her eyes had narrowed, she now realized that he hadn't spoken since they had seen eachother. The only thing he had spoken to was that rat that he had just devoured. She shuddered slightly, remembering the grossness of it all. She took a step to her side, so that he might not feel so cornered, she had put him in an ackward position, she could tell this much. Perhaps that is why he is so skiddish. He doesn't like to be in tight places. Looking up, she figured that he might beable to get up the walls, so that gave away that assumption. "Why do you not speak? You have spoken to the rat, do I not deserve the same if not more than a simple meal?"

Shade - January 13, 2004 03:39 AM (GMT)
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, his gaze starting to shake.
Taking one more step back, he found his back completely pressed into the wall, and he leaned against it, sliding down until he was crouching.
He let his eyes lower to the ground, away from her, as he tried to control himself. His mouth was parted slightly, showing his fangs again as he breathed heavily.
"I'm... sorry." he muttered whole-heartedly, inbetween a few heavy coughs.

Angeliques - January 13, 2004 04:01 PM (GMT)
Angeliques had found herself confused. She did not understand why he would be acting in this way. She did not wish to press him though, but she couldn't seem to shake the feeling he left with her. Her slight temper had calmed, her eyes still heated though. Why is it he acts in this way, he could not possible be this way at all times. She took not a step forward and not one back either, but remained where she was, testing the situation they had in front of them. "You are sorry for?" She shook her head a little, trying to figure out just what it was that this man was sorry for. He had bared his fangs again and she tilted her head as if to study him better. "Is it that you are still hungry?" Her eye narrowed, she still couldn't figure out why he was acting in such a way.

Shade - January 14, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
"Sorry... I... didn't mean to be like that." he answered her softly, feeling very young. He opened his mouth as if to give an explanation regarding her other question, but decided against it and nodded his head slowly, looking away from her, down at the concrete again.

Angeliques - January 15, 2004 09:59 AM (GMT)
Angeliques' nose twitched. She hadn't known what to say to the man before her. Her eyes lowered too, but in an attempt to make him more comfortable. "Well, perhaps I shall leave you then, seeing as you are still quite hungry. I do not think I could watch you eat another horrid thing like you just did." her nose twitched again, it was a disgusting thought that made her stomach turn. As she did not like to feed herself, she could understand why he would turn to something as low as a rat, but she herself could never bring herself to eat such filth.

Shade - January 15, 2004 03:21 PM (GMT)
He buried his face in his arms, which were crossed and leaning on his knees. "I can't." he whimpered, sounding a lot like a scared kid, which wasn't far off from the truth. "That was the only one I caught I can't catch anymore." he explained quietly, his face still covered by his arms, his voice wavered as if he was holding back from whining or crying.

Angeliques - January 15, 2004 10:37 PM (GMT)
Angeliques had already turned to leave, walking out to the street when his voice again rose, this time, sounding more sad and helpless. What does he mean he can't. He can't find his own food? Sighing heavily, something told her to just keep walking but she couldn't help herself. Turning, she narrowed her eyes curiously, watching him in the darkened alley, curled up like a child who just had a horrible nightmare, hugging his legs close to his body to feel more secure. "I'm sorry, you say you can't? Is that all you eat are rats? Or is there something else you can feed from also?" Angeliques had hoped he would say there was something else, but she didn't expect anything more. Perhaps he is newer to all of this and he just cannot bring himself to kill a mortal. Her eyes did not lower, but her thoughts seemed to wander.

Shade - January 15, 2004 11:44 PM (GMT)
"I don't know if I can." he brought his head up and wiped his eyes. "I tried, but I can't." he sniffled. "It hurts..." His light blue eyes stared up at her, as if she could somehow help him, like he trusted her. He wiped his eyes again.

Angeliques - January 17, 2004 03:23 AM (GMT)
She couldn't help her softer side from showing. Her eyes watched him, flickering green in the light. She felt for him, he was like her. She remembered her first time. Lowering her eyes she thought back to the times with Phillip, how he had gone with her countless times until she had gotten it right. "Why can you not do it? And what is it that you can't do?" She wanted to be sure, she didn't mean to pry, but she might be able to help him, the way that Phillip once helped her. She did not step closer, even as he was sniffling and crying. She didn't like the mess that sadness mad, she had seen it all too many times before. Instead she just stood against the wall, watching him, waiting for his reply.

Shade - January 17, 2004 05:09 AM (GMT)
"I tried to... " he paused, wiped his eyes again and stared up at her, as if he was searching for the right words. "I was trying to... I was... I'm hungry." he stumbled his words. He continued softly. "I tried to eat, more then a rat, but I couldn't. I kept... messing up and I... don't know what to do." He lowered his eyes, as if he was embarrased or unsure, or both.

Angeliques - January 21, 2004 12:53 PM (GMT)
She watched him as he appeared to try and calm himself but he failed to do so. "Why don't you sit, settle your nerves. There is nothing really to cry about. You will learn." She watched him, closely as if she were trying to decide something about him. She took a step closer to him, testing the distance between them. "What are you?" Her eyes narrowed. She felt foolish herself for asking, she should know over all these years, but she wanted to be sure of it. She didn't take more than the step toward him, she didn't want to scare him into a frenzy once more.
