Title: The City View

Sky - December 8, 2003 12:25 PM (GMT)
It was only a few hours after the sun had set completly; many people still wandered the streets travelling home from work, several young people were making their way in the direction of the nearest club and cars tooted as the traffic began to thin out.

Most people side stepped out of Sky's way as he walked slowly down the sidewalk, they avoided his gaze and scurried away from him as fast as they could. People tended to do this, even without knowing conciously that he was undead.

He darted out of the main road and swung himself up a fire escape and onto a building roof. From there he sat on a ledge as the breeze gently fluttered his jacket and Sky stared out into the distance taking in the City at night, the lights and general buzzing atmosphere.

Vanessa - December 24, 2003 02:59 AM (GMT)
I guess she would be considered part of this view. A part of the scenery, even though it was burning a whole inside her. She stepped out of the building, whatever little buisness she saw fit to tend to now finished.

She started down the main road, pulling her jacket closer around her thin little frame. It was black, of course. She never wore much else than black. It rimmed her eyes, as well, though cleanly. Not smudged and dirty looking as was the craze these days.

Her skin was smooth, so white. As if a porcelin finish had been poured over her, a varnish to protect the masterpiece. Well, that was all she was, wasn't she? Some trophy to be displayed on the arm at gatherings.

Thank heavens she'd stopped that long ago. She seemed distracted by the thoughts inside her head, but she knew where she was going. Down this street, past this building. On the way home.

Sky - December 24, 2003 12:16 PM (GMT)
He sat there perfectly still for half and hour at least, only his eyes moved to watch a bird rise on the warm current of the tall buildings before swooping away and out of sight. The sky was covered in a thick layer of cloud, he could see the streetlight reflections to prove it, and he wished he could see the stars.

They were the closest thing he could get to gazing upon the sun again, he used to be able to see the stars before he moved to the city. But a vampire needs to feed and there are very few victims in the country, as well as there is little effective cover.

He sighed and broke the silence that had fallen, his cold grey eyes looked as bleek as ever, next to his pale skin they looked almost invisible. Sky hadn't 'styled' his hair this night, left it natural and uncombed. Usually he would have it spiked and short, away from his eyes. And he had worn just a black t-shirt and an old pair of jeans in place of his usual attire of leather. He went bare foot too.

Sky felt as though he could just wait here for the sun to rise, to chance a last glimpse before he burnt.

Vanessa - December 24, 2003 02:08 PM (GMT)
OOC| Heh, I'm not sure how our characters are supposed to interact if one's on the ground and the other's on a rooftop.. |

She was walking down the street containing his building now, the one he was perched upon.

Her hair was raven, black as the clothing she were. And it had escaped the pins she had tried to use to subdue it earlier. It cascaded down her back in an ocean of curls.

She loved those curls. They made her feel pretty, made her happy. She would grab at whatever would do that tonight, she hated being alone on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day wasn't so bad, but Christmas Eve was horrible.

She didn't need to see the stars, they were in her eyes..

Sky - December 24, 2003 02:32 PM (GMT)
((Heh, yeah I just thought that...oh I know! This is going to be such bad roleplay but we can't keep going like this.))

Sky's attention drew to the silence that had fallen, people were all at home asleep eagerly expection presents the next day, a meal with their family, people to care for them.

He swung his legs over the edge of the building to strech his legs a little, Sky accidently dislodged a loose bit of plaster which tumbled down the side of the building clanging on the metal fire escapes as it went.

((All I could think of I'm afraid, trying to do work at the same time as RPing makes my head hurt. but at least I have funny smiles to look at... ))

Vanessa - December 24, 2003 07:40 PM (GMT)
OOC| Don't worry about it, I've actually had worse ways presented to bring characters together! That was quite clever, actually.. |

She began to sing to herself, under her breath. "Santa, baby.. I want a yacht and really that's not a lot.." What a joke. She'd had a yacht, had gotten sick of it. She believed she had sunken in out of sheer boredom one night.

No, not sheer.. Sheer was pretty and you could see through it, to the other side where it ended. More like dense boredom. Yes, that was better.

The plaster crashed down around the sidewalk around Hannah, leading white dust to rise up and settle on her shoulders and hems. She stopped in surprise, her eyes quite wide in shock. She looked about her, turning in a complete circle as she susipciously eyed those few passerbys.

Then, she looked up. Searching through each window of the building, going upwards. It was only now she'd sensed another, one like her. Had she been that clueless before?

Sky - January 2, 2004 07:08 PM (GMT)
Sky paused for a second a listened to the plaster fall to the ground with an unsatisfying crunch. He closed his eyes and rocked back slightly as a wave of childhood memories came back to him; of watching other kids throwing a stone around outside as a ball while he watched from his view point in the hospital.

With a slight sheepish expression on his face he reached to where the plaster broke from and snapped off another lump, slightly bigger than the one that had fallen, and threw it up into the air. Hopefully that would make a better thump than before.

((Sorry for the delay, I have recently become a king and have spent a few days in the royal court drinking the royal wine while governing my empire. {getting pissed in the basement with the cat} ))

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 05:40 PM (GMT)
As this second piece also landed near her, Hannah spotted the culprit by his movement.

"Excuse me, y'all! What in the hell's the idea behind this!?" She snapped loud enough for him to hear. The ever-present Southern accent was thicker now that she was angry, and it did little to make her seem friendly, as it normally did.

OOC| Ah, I can't spell.. And don't worry about it, I'm sure that was fun. My dog makes a mean drunk, so most of the time we just eat cookies in my basement. |

Sky - January 3, 2004 06:33 PM (GMT)
Sky heard the voice loud and clear, he stayed still for a second before leaping up and into the air. Wrapping his arms slightly around him in the air he fell straight down towards ground bending his knees to absorb the impact.

He landed cleanly and stood up straight again, his hand already out in greeting.

"So sorry about the plaster, I didn't think anyone would be out this late. Especially not on Christmas Eve," he started to withdraw his hand when he sensed that this Southerner was not the mortal he first thought she was.

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 06:46 PM (GMT)
She smirked a bit when the realization hit him, but took his hand before he could withdraw it fully.

"No harm done, darlin'." She says with a silky little laugh. "What's wrong? Don't socialize with your own kind?"

Sky - January 3, 2004 06:55 PM (GMT)
"Yeah of course I do, its just umm...well never mind."

He turned away slightly to prod the plaster remains with his bare feet, the dirty white covered the souls of his feet now.

"My name is Sky by the way, what brings you out on Christmas Eve?"

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
"My name's Hannah Holloway," She replies, though it seems like she has to think about her answer to his question.

"I had to go to the post office.. Send back something." She finally supplies. "And you?"

Sky - January 3, 2004 07:11 PM (GMT)
"Nothing much, I was just going to wait for the sun to come up. Roof tops give you the best views for that sort of thing. Not that I've done it before, of course." He gave a slight chuckle to the joke that he didn't find funny.

((God my brain is weak today...))

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 07:21 PM (GMT)
"That's not funny," She says coldly, dropping his hand and retreating into herself. She stuffed her hands in her pockets and stared at him distainfully.

"That's not funny." She repeats.

OOC| Hung over? |

Sky - January 3, 2004 07:27 PM (GMT)
"You can always join me if you have nothing else to do," he looked to the Sky and tried to look for stars. Back home he would have been able to tell when the sun was about to rise. Here all he could see was the city lights reflections.

((Shouldn't be, its 7:30pm here. You have a party to go to tonight then...lucky you. I've got exams next week so I'm avoiding the drink for a while))

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 07:43 PM (GMT)
"Join you in what? The sun? No thank you, I'm not that far gone yet." She replies polietly. She looks upwards, as well, wondering what he's looking for, but the looks back at him.

OOC| Yeah, lucky me.. It's going to be my two best friend and I hitting on the waiter at the pizza place. And whatever the reason, at least you're not running around like a blind chicken attempting to make yourself look pretty! I just cut myself because if it.. Venus razors suck.. Wait, exams? It's right after Christmas.. how old are you, anyway?|

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 07:46 PM (GMT)
OOC| Oh my god!! I'm a slut! I'm an exhibitionist! I'm a walking peep-show!! Ahhhh!!!

The paper-boy just came when I was getting out of the bathtub, so I figured I'd run an answer it in my towel. He goes to my school, I know who he is, it's no big deal, right? Wrong!

Somehow when he was handing me the paper we managed to drop it. We both knelt down to get it and as I was standing back up the towel slipped and I gave him more of a tip then I planned on!

We both just kinda stood there for a second, stunned, before I had the presence of mind to grab the paper from him, grin, and say, "Merry Christmas!" Before slamming the door in his face.

On the upside, I didn't have to pay for the paper today... |

Sky - January 3, 2004 08:18 PM (GMT)
(( 16ish. I do a paper round, it sucks so give the guy a break. According to divine law he should now be our king of paper. Read my diary thing about my paper round and you'll see a strange coincidence...))

He looked puzzled, and raised his eyebrow slightly. Though he has had only a short life on the earth as an immortal the thought of never seeing the sun again was the most depressing thought for him. "How old a vampire are you anyway?"

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 08:37 PM (GMT)
OOC| I'll be 17 tomorrow.. I'm not blaming this on him, it was no one's fault.. It actually kinda rocks for him. But still!!! I'm just glad none of my neighbours were out shoveling snow or anything. Maybe I'll read that if I've time before I leave..|

"Very old.. I think I'm defiantly over a hundred, though I'm not quite sure by how much."

She pauses to think again. This was odd, she didn't normally forget things. And your age.. that's normally quite important.

Sky - January 3, 2004 08:42 PM (GMT)
"Ah, I'm just coming to terms with it all, y'know. I'm sure you've been through this many times. I just moved here, from overseas actually and I am going to need some hunting grounds too. Is there anywhere we could go get a drink?"

((Well if you suddenly run off and I don't see you again then I hope you have an excellent birthday!))

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
"Then welcome to the city, Sky." She says with a smile. She seemed a lot nicer now, knowing he was only young.

"The parks are never empty, there's always some homeless people sleeping there. But if you'd like to be civilized for awhile there are a few bars that serve alcohol and blood."

OOC| *grins* Thanks! But I don't think I'll be suddenly running off anytime soon.|

Sky - January 3, 2004 08:57 PM (GMT)
((Oh yeah...female...that means you have about 6 hours to get ready. Only 6 hours! Hurry!))

"Care to show me around then? If you have the time that is. I've been to the park, and appart from the White Mice I don't know where the clubs are."

Her tone of voice changed, she seemed a lot nicer and more accepting now.

Vanessa - January 3, 2004 09:08 PM (GMT)
OOC| I'll have you know I'm ready now! I'm just waiting on a ride. Although I did poke myself in the eye with the mascare wand.. *ouch* And I signed your guest book. I don't really know why. |

"I'd love to," She said simply. "The Nightclub is where I usually go when I want to be social. It's held by my coven, but others are allowed."

Sky - January 3, 2004 09:15 PM (GMT)
((Make-up=scary))

"You lead the way," he said with a little grin, he'll wait for the sunlight another day.

((OUCH! I just severly burnt myself doing something really stupid. Don't play with fire kids...))

Vanessa - January 4, 2004 06:41 PM (GMT)
OOC| Only to a guy.. Guys are obssessively afraid of eyelash curlers. In my experiance, anyway. |

She smiled once more, she really did have a pretty smile. She took his arm and turned him around, leading him to their destination.

OOC| Shall I start a new board, actually in The Nightclub? |

Sky - January 4, 2004 07:38 PM (GMT)
((And hair straighteners...*shudder* The Nightclub it is...))
