Sidewalks and streets were flooded at this hour, everyone pushing to get home and back to their families. The streets steamed from the manholes and gutters, from now and then idiotic adolescents running out into the traffic and through the steam to prove themselves daring to their friends.

Horns screamed the impatience of their drivers' as people drudge through the crosswalks, ever so slowly. Just as the white lit up man turned to a flashing red hand a girl ran out onto the cross walk, quickly (unlike the rest) making her way across. Her brown coffee hair fell freely, and had their not be a breeze it would fall straight and to her shoulders. Her head was kinked slightly to the right and her right hand brought up to her ear as she babbled into a cell phone, otherwise known as her leash, her left thumb was hooked into the front pocket of her black boot leg jeans.

"Mom, I'll be fine-- Yea, I know you're upset-- Mom!" Just as she stepped up onto the side walk she grumbled and hit the end button on her phone, cursing under her breath as she snapped it back onto her waist band of her dark jeans.

A black haired woman stood leaning against the cold brick wall, or a near-by building. Her eyes watching closely to everything that moved around her, her ears perked-up to the sounds of the street. The woman wore simple clothing, a pair of black pin-stripe pants, and a burgundy wool-sweater. Her long hair was tied tightly in a bun- with a few loose strands hanging down, around her pale heart-shaped face. Her hands dug deep within her the pockets of her black jacket, feeling around for her smokes- nothing, must'ave dropped them - she catches the muttering of the girl, turning her glance towards her- ivy eyes watching closely...listening from more words...
