Title: Two's Company
Description: For Midnight
kovah - January 3, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
Blaze sat at the bar clutching her well earned drink, it had taken several threats for her to get it. As only looked 18 it was sometimes difficult for her to get served alcohol.
She wondered what the night would bring, she could feel the eyes of several of the older regulars on her. Such was the intensity of their staring that when the door opened she didn't even look round. Confident that it was just another old man that was going to stare at her.
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
Cole trudged in slowly, immediately taking his coat off and tossing it over the bar counter as he sat down, not far away from Blaze. He ordered a glass of wine which he would pretend to sip as he glanced about the room.
He noticed a young immortal not far from him. She seemed very self conscious as she sat there, almost paranoid really. And then, a strange realization came over him that he had seen her before on the street.
He got up from his seat, taking his coat and glass and walked over to her, sitting next to her. "Hello, stranger."
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
Max came after Cole slowly, finding his own favorite spot in the pub, ordering a whiskey. Placing his coat on a chair he sat down, watching as Cole walked over to another young mortal. It was his conversation, so he said nothing, and simply drank the strong liquor contend with the current situation. Whatever could be said about Demaitre, it was true when they said that it held a lot of different Vampires, in the two weeks he had been here he had seen more Vampires than most of the others cities he had visited..
kovah - January 3, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
"Hello" she replied in a monotone voice taking another drink. She took a deep uneeded breath and turned to the man now sitting beside her. Only to realise he wasn't an old fat drunk man but that immortal she had seen on the street while back. This night was taking a turn for the better.
"Oh, hi...i was expecting one of them. They have been staring long enough, thought one of them had finally got drunk enough to talk to me."
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 05:44 PM (GMT)
Cole smiled softly and then offered her his hand, "I'm Cole. And if any of them bother you, my friend and I will take care of it for you." He turned on his stool and looked pointedly at Max across the room. "Would you care to join us?"
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
"Oh, I thought you liked to talk to the lady alone.." He said shrugging, but with a smile. He took his whiskey with him, walking towards the bar where the two immortals stood. Putting his drink down and offered the new Vampire his hand. "I am Maximilian Mainor." His english accent was undeniable, yet he didn't tell her where he came from, that was something he usually kept to himself. "You've met each other before?"
kovah - January 3, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
"We weren't introduced before. I'm Evelyn if we are being so formal. But i rather you call my Blaze." She said smiling at the two of them. "So what brings you two gentlemen to a place like this.?"
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
"Complete boredom.."Max muttered, returning his attention to his glass for a moment to take a sip. "What motivated Madnight I do not know.." He grinned. "Well, this is my favorite pub if I must be honest... Lady Evelyn.." Personally he never understood nicknames, and preffered to use the persons 'real name.'
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
"Evelyn? That's a lovely name. If I may ask, why do you prefer 'Blaze'?" He tossed his coat over the counter again and took a pretend sip of his wine. He personally only prefered to drink blood.
He looked to Max in contemplation of the question. "Don't know really. The museum was rather boring, and Yesterday's Man was dead, so... We decided to come here instead." He shrugged passively.
kovah - January 3, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
"My old name sometimes brings back memories that i rather forget. However if you insist i shall forbear for tonight" she replied finnishing her drink. "Have either of you eaten tonight? for i think this place only has limited entertainment value"
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 06:09 PM (GMT)
Cole shook his head, "If you prefer I call you Blaze, than I shall." He smiled politely and set his glass down. He really didn't intend to drink more.
"Actually, we've both just fed," he paused and looked to Max. "I'm not sure about you, but I could always go for another."
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
"Og yeah we fed, we found something interested in that rather booooring museum... everything was fake, and yet we had to pay for it.." He muttered rather darkly. "Ah well, they paid for it too.."
He ordered the barman for another drink, asking for a bigger glass.
'Who else wants a whiskey?"
kovah - January 3, 2006 06:56 PM (GMT)
"I'll take a whiskey if you dont mind" she said "I'm not especially hungry myself but i could do with something to eat before the night is through. " She turned to Cole "You may call me either Evelyn or Blaze."
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 06:59 PM (GMT)
Cole smiled softly at Max's explanation of their time at the museum. He turned down the offer of another drink, looking pointedly at his own glass and mumbling, "There's only one substance I drink. This is just for show."
He looked back and forth between the two, spinning around on his stool to examine the rest of the inhabitants of the bar. "So, where are the two of you from?" he asked, not looking at either of them.
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
"England, London.." Max muttered as he looked at his empty glass, before ordering a new. "Tho that was along time ago, I travelled far and wide since then, but my roots lie there, on that little island full of cocky silly people.." He let out a strange giggle, but got a hold onto himself eventually.
"You, Cole?" He giggled again, but the reason why wasn't shown.
Tiara Vinake - January 3, 2006 07:15 PM (GMT)
Tiara casually stroled into the King's Brewery, full intentions of only drinking her nightly cup of whiskey. she didn't want to get drunk or nearly anything of the sorts. Just a quiet evening to herself... that was if she was lucky enough to stroll upon the place either half-empty, or near enough to it.
Taking a seat at the bar, she didn't even bother registering who was already inside. She just nodded to the bartender and quickly ordered a whiskey. As fast as she could get it out of her mouth, she already had the glass in her hand and halfway to her lips.
kovah - January 3, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
"I'm from England too, just outside London in fact. Though i quite enjoyed it at first, it does get rather tiresome. All that rain does become a little irratating after a time. I too set off for greener pastures and havent been back since. Besides other parts of the world have much better large scale disasters. Earthquakes for instance, the death fear and panic in the air are sublime." She watched a young woman walk into the bar and order a drink. The way she held herself made Evelyn take a second glance she's killed before She thought But she isn't immortal...Interesting
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
Max glanced beside him, noticing a familiar face.
"Tiara!" He said, putting his glass down. "How nice to see you again..!" A smile appeared on his lips as he called the barman for yet another drink. "What brings you to this particulary pub?"
He glanced at the brown liquor, as if he saw something new in the glass. "Funny little glass.." He muttered.
"Hmn, funny. People always say it rains so much in England, but really, it doesn't... not anymore than anywhere else.."
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
Cole was still and quiet as he listened. "I'm from everywhere really. I was born in Germany, but I've never been there to live. I've never really lived anywhere. I've always traveled a lot."
He shrugged and turned back around in his seat, leaning against the counter. It was somewhat depressing that he would never have a place to call home. And the places that could possibly be considered as such brought back terrible memories.
He looked up with the others as a mortal walked in and was surprised that Max was familiar with her. He looked back to Blaze and grinned, "He's drunk already."
Tiara Vinake - January 3, 2006 07:31 PM (GMT)
Tiara glanced up as her name was called. At first he wasn't farmilier... but then after a split-second it triggered in her brain. Max, the one vampire she has had the pleasure of meeting who didn't do any harm to her. A small smile flickered as she got up to join him.
"Hey, Max." She nodded, glancing towards the others. She could already distinctly tell they were vampires. She has come in contact with too many not to know. But she chose to ignore the fact. Max had helped her before... she doubted he'd just let anyone at her for no reason.
"I'm just here for a routine drink... nothing big." She shrugged taking a sip of her drink. "You?"
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 07:33 PM (GMT)
"Doing nothing.. really.." He grinned, noticing his glass was empty already. "Bugger.. Glasses these days are empty far too quickly to my likely.."
He put it down, and waited before he got anew one.
"A routine drink? Like something which you drink every night, but only once, not twice?" He frowned himself, and got another gigglefit.
kovah - January 3, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
Evelyn nodded to Cole with a smile on her face and watched Tiara came to talk to Max. The sound of Tiara's heart and the blood thumping in her veins brought a hungry pang to her stomach. But since this girl was a friend of Max's she knew that she would have to find a meal elsewhere.
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
Cole nodded to Tiara in polite recognition. He could feel her fear... Or was it contempt? Either way, it was a sort of negative feeling toward their kind.
He watched Max as he talked with her, complaning about his empty cup, and he couldn't help but smile. He had never ingested a touch of alcohol, even when he was mortal. Now that he was immortal, he refused to consume anything that wasn't blood. It was his vamperic right.
He turned back to look at Blaze, his smile deminishing, "You look thirsty."
Tiara Vinake - January 3, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
Taira nodded slightly, making sure to make her drink last for the time being. "Yeah... you could say that. After work, or just pretty much every afternoon I just go out to have a drink unless I'm in just a really down mood." she shrugged. But who wuold have guessed she has been doing this for five years?
She didn't really feel hatred towards vampires... just a very cautious, weary feeling around them. She didn't trust them, was more of the term. Sure she'd be civil to Max and whomever he was around... but when she was one on one with another vampire... well, one woman had the pleasure of finding out that Tiara wasn't an easy feed.
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 07:59 PM (GMT)
While Max fancied himself another drink, Cole made an effort to be noticed by Tiara. "You're among good company, miss," he whispered to her, although Max was between them. He reached across the counter, in front of Max, figuring he was too drunk to mind the rudeness of this reach, and sought to shake her hand. "Cole."
Tiara Vinake - January 3, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Tiara glanced to his hand warily before taking it and giving him a quick shack, but polite none the less. "I'm Tiara." She nodded. She did say she'd be civil when around Max... even if he was as drunk as a kid loaded with caffine. To be honest she wouldn't have thought of him to be the kind to allow himself to be drunk... but then again, people have always surprised Tiara... even herself.
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 08:12 PM (GMT)
Cole smiled warmly, though his blue eyes were still cold. He turned his gaze to Max and put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it gently. "You had enough yet, Max?"
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
"Hmmn.." He looked at his class. "Yeah, before I fall off my feet and against you , that we won't want to happen.." He put the glass aside, looking sideways at Tiara.
"And you look as if you've seen a ghost.. I am not a saint, if I would have been a saint I would have had wings and a halo.. and I wouldn't be a Vampire.." He chuckled. "I'd be dead, capital.."
Tiara Vinake - January 3, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
Tiara snapped from her thoughts and returned her attention back to Max. She took another sip of her drink knowing it would take a few more before she got into any type of state like Max was in now. "No... you're not a saint... because if you were, you wouldn't be here right now about to stumble off your feet from a few whiskeys." She joked. It was actually pretty funny in her opinion. Who knew she'd have a sense of humor?
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Cole chuckled softly at their remarks, looking back at his own glass of wine. He would have half a mind to drink it if he cared to. But it simply didn't interest him. He pushed it toward the opposite side of the counter to show that he was done with it.
He then got to his feet and grabbed his coat. "I think I'll be off." He wasn't particularly interested in having so much company. He rather liked to be alone or in the company of one or two.
"It was a pleasure meeting you all," he said with a smile to everyone. He looked directly at Max, "Will you make it home alright, or are you going to pass out in an alleyway." It was a subtle, discreet indication that he wanted to stick around, but...
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
"Hey you don't know whether Saints stumble off their feet after a few whiskeys, have you ever seen one drink? And I'm not drunk... I'm tipsy.. if I would have been drunk I would have been either lying on the ground... or ordering more whiskey untill I couldn't see straight anymore and well.. fill in the rest..."
He chuckled when he heard the discreet question cole asked him.
"If you wait for another hour I think I'll be able to walk to the door with no problem, I'm not sure whether I won't enjoy sleeping in a hellway.. err hallway.." He shrugged.
"That you don't drink Cole, doesn't mean the world cannot.."
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
Cole furrowed the brows over his stale blue eyes. "I wasn't implying that," he said slowly. His eyes lowered to the counter again, a feeling of negativity overwhelming him. Was he being scolded? It was of no consquence. He sat down again and took his glass again, examining it, silent as could be.
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 09:13 PM (GMT)
"All the time that you've been sitting besides me Cole, you've been sitting with a glass in your hand.. yet you do not drink from it, and all I hear from your mind is that you do want to drink, not want to drink, and that you feel to good to drink... that doesn't mean that I feel to good to drink... yes, negative thoughts flooowing from your mind.." he chuckled.
" And if you are wondering whether I had to say this or not the answer is yes, simply because I felt like saying it.. You don't have to wait if you wish to leave Cole, you've met me this night, if I die tomorrow it would probably not matter to you.. and I don't mind.." He shrugged, staring ahead of himself again. "It's your life, simply as this is mine.."
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 09:18 PM (GMT)
Cole pressed a smile onto his face. "Yet in my indecisiveness, I still find that I enjoy your company, Maximilian. So cheers." He took his wine glass and gently tapped the tip of it against the tip of Max's glass and forced himself to take a drink.
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
"Now there, you are still alive... if that is the right word for it anyway.." He chuckled again, sensing Cole's rather uneasiness. "Wasn't my intention either to force you to drink.. I'd rather not be critisized by someone who has never drunk before..."
He had the urge to poke out his tongue, but realised it would look rather silly for a grown man.
"indecisiveness is a curse..." He muttered, taking another sip of his newfilled glass.
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
Cole nodded, "I wasn't trying to criticize you, my friend. I just prefer blood." The wine was bitter. He set the glass down and smirked.
"I rather like this curse. It keeps me out of trouble." And that was quite the truth. He did not tend to be an impulsive man at all. He tended to think things through. He liked his immortal life. He did as he pleased, made friends along the way, and rarely had any conflicts.
He picked up his wine glass again and swirled the liquid around inside. "I've never had a drink of alcohol before tonight."
Maximilian Mainor - January 3, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
"And you chose wine, gagh.. sour stuff.. I'm supposed to like as an English Lord.." He shrugged. "Well, I hate to think things over and over again, in the end changes are lost, and doubt consumes the mind.."
Resting his head on his elboy Max watched the brown liquor of the wiskey. "And of course blood is preffered, but what if you've already had blood and still want to drink something? Oh, you could settle for water of course.."
He looked at his new found companion.
"Where do you come from?"
MidnightSun - January 3, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
Cole smiled softly. "I've already told you, but I will forgive you, for your mind is silly. I was born in Germany, but I've never lived there, or anywhere for that matter. I've traveled as long as I've lived." His statement was short and to the point. "I travel from town to town, country to country, and... Well, that's all there really is to it. I've traveled the world a hundred times over." He shrugged as if it didn't matter to him.
kovah - January 4, 2006 12:08 PM (GMT)
She had listened to the conversation of the three without comment for awhile now, sometimes it was nice to just watch and listen. The urge for blood was getting stronger though and her will was steadily fading. If it got too much before she fed, and her will snapped she would murder every human in the establishment until the blood coated the floor and the hunger was satiatied.
She was about to suggest that they leave, but then a younger man that she hadn't noticed before caught her eye. He would make a meal. He was about to enter the toilet, not the most refined of eating establishments. But away from the prying eyes of the general populace. Evelyn gave Cole a knowing look and slipped away. Discreetly slipping into the mens. It wasn't the cleanest to places either, she fell onto the young man like she was incredibly drunk and he stumbled back into one of the cubicles, she slammed the door shut and before he knew what had happened her teeth were in his neck. He tried feebly to protest, but the life was being pumped out of his body by his own heart.
Once he was dead she locked the door and climbed out over the top straightened her clothes and ran fingers though her hair then wiped her mouth of the last traces of the young man. Before rejoining the others at the bar feeling content with her latest murder.
Tiara Vinake - January 4, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
Tiara stood back and let Cole have his time with Max. It was humorous watching the two together until it got a little stilled between them. She couldn't believe Cole had never drank a single drop of alcohol before. Tiara couldn't live without it... or so she's grown to convince herself of.
She then watched as Blaze wandered towards the bathroom, and instinctively knew what she was doing. Tiara was only glad it wasn't her in that bathroom instead of that guy. She didn't feel sorry or anything... she just didn't want to be fed from again. It had happened once and she never wanted it to happen again.
