Joseph made his way into the impressive square. He only came into the city a few days ago so he wanted to explore as much of the city as he could. How much it reminded him of New York City. He was listening to Disturbed on his walkman when he found the building he was looking for. He had some business to attend to there. Of course he was dressed nicely for this, wearing the black suit with a red tie. He was too distracted to notice the boy he accidently walked into as he opened the door.

Raymond sighed softly a she blinked, and ran a hand through his brown/blond hair. He was just inside the doors of the building, his eye’s looking around slowly as he shook his head. Ready to move, he yelped slightly as she door bit him in the butt, then the person was using the door.

He caught himself before he fell, and dropped his bag. Hr grumbled as he picked up the bag and turned back to this person. About to say something, he stopped, he was kind of cute, and being BI, he liked this guy kind of.

“Maybe, you should keep a look out of where your going.” He said nicely as he blinked. He was here to talk about art the building waited. And being in school or art, he thought he’d try out, and they liked him. He smiled softly at this man and nodded.

Joseph turned around when he heard the mortal say he'd better watch where he was going.

"I'm sorry, didn't see you there, big night for me." Joseph said hastily. What was that look that boy surprised him, was he gay or something? No time to worry about that. Joseph quickly picked up the mortal's briefcase. The mortal didn't seem to be that old, probably in his mid-twenties.

"Sorry but I've got an important meeting and I'm already late as it is." With this Joseph turned around and started to walk off.

Raymond blinked at him, then looked at this guys look. Was he the kind of person who could tell if a person was straight, BI or Gay? He sighed and nodded softly as he listened to him. Taking his briefcase, he nodded softly once again.

“Thanks.” He said with a smiled, then watched him. Looking at his own watch, he panicked slightly as he noticed he was late as well. Though this vampire was right, he was only 21, young, full of life, strong, and had the sent of a vampire on him. The sent was from the vampire he lived with, the one who raised him.

“Oh dear. I’m late now. Nice meeting you.” He said nicely as he turned and started off as well.

Though by the end of the time he was here for, he was back in the lobby of the building, looking over the walls he was allowed to use to place his art. He had a pad of paper out and was already planning out a few things, though the one he had bumped into was still on his mind.

After an hour of negotiations Joseph was finally finished and he wanted to get home. On his way out he saw the boy placing art on a wall. He didn't notice at first but now he could smell a vampire on him. The scent was strong so he must've been with a vampire for a long time. He was surprised the boy wasn't turned or dead for that manner. He approached the boy making as much noise as he could as to not give him a heart attack.

"Beautiful art did you create these all by yourself? Oh my name is Joseph Kingsland." Joseph extended his hand as a sign of friendship.

Not all of his art was there at the moment. Some of the corvettes were blank and needed to be worked on, so he was just making sure they would fit at the moment. Sighing softly, he then started to think of what to do on each on, and what colors to use. It wasn’t long before he heard the other behind him, and then heard his words. Looking back slowly, he smiled and nodded.

“Yes I did, I’m and art student at the college here. And I’m Raymond Tjaden.” He smiled, then blinked. He took his hand and then blinked, feeling the same coldness that Rowen had. He nodded slightly, knowing what he was and it didn’t both him as long as this one didn’t try and kill him.

Joseph was surprised when Raymond nodded at him. The boy knew what he was and wasn't afraid of him. Joe pushed his awareness out seeing if there were any mortals within hearing range.

"So you know what I am. Sorry to ask you this but how do you know? Certainly you've been in contact with a vampire otherwise you wouldn't have known." Joseph got the feeling that the boy seemed interested in him. "Sorry got another question, are you interested in me?"

Having a feeling that Joe knew, that he knew what he was, he smiled slightly as he watched him look around. As his eye’s went back to him, he listened, then gave a small nod.

“I do know. I grew up with one. She brought be up. Though I’d rather not talk about it here. I just know by the look and feel of them.” He smiled, and then wondered slightly as he watched him still. Listening to his question, Raymond blushed and looked at he floor slightly.

“Yes, you’re a vary good looking man.” He said, his words coming out kind of slow, and he meant each word. Looking up slowly at him he moved to pack up his things since it was getting late.

Joseph smiled at this. Even though he wasn't really into guys but he felt oddly attracted to Raymond. He forced the emotions out of his head. Damn he had too many loves in his life to be worrying a Bi/Gay person.

"Hey let me help you clean up. Mind if I join you? You know how the neighborhood can get." Joseph was going to let him know that he wasn't that interested in Raymond but he left it out.

Raymond nodded slightly and cleaned stuff up and nodded softly as she picked up his bag and put it over his shoulder. He had more of a currier bag then a brief case. He blinked at him, then nodded softly.

“Sure, it’ll be nice to have someone to walk with.” He said, as he got the feeling this guy wasn’t really into other guys. He nodded slightly, having to clear this up as he moved for the doors.

“You know, I’m Bi, don’t worry about it. It’s not going to kill me if your not Bi or Gay. And I wont follow you everywhere trying to win your love.” He said looking back to him as he held the door open for him.

"Thank you," Joseph said as he exited the building, "I'm sorry if I didn't mean to make it look like I was interested." As Raymond caught up to him he said, "What kind of music do you listen to?" Joseph was now interested in this boy raised by a vampiress.

Catching up to him, Raymond blinked as listened to him, then only shook his head slightly with a small laugh. “Don’t worry about it. For some reason love doesn’t work out for me that well.” He stated as he blinked. The point was no one ever stayed with him long.

“Music. Well just about thing. I don’t like rap or really heavy rock or metal. They drive me nuts. I mostly listen to Rock, Pop, Dance and classical.” He said softly as he looked at him.

“Yourself?” He wondered as he looked him over. It was always seemed in case with anyone, the other they liked wasn’t there for love.

Joseph listened carefully. "I like pretty much anything but I mostly listen to heavy rock, you know Disturbed, System of a Down, Avenged Sevenfold. What classical music do you listen to? I listen to Mozart, Beethovan, Haydn most of the classical era music." Joseph felt bad for making the boy drag out the fact that he wasn't gay/bi.

Listening to him, he nodded slightly as he blinked. Giving a soft nod, he looked at the things around them.

“Not my first pick in bands or anything some of their music if ok. And as for classical music I listen to just about the same as you do.” He said looking at him for a moment, before he looked at the ground, then the sky.

“So, do you mind if I ask how you are?” He asked in wonder, before his eye’s moved back to him.

"No not at all, it's a beautiful night to feed, of course not on you. I've been quite confused by a couple of things." Joseph said.

"That's quite good. My favorite is by far Beethovan. How're you doing this fine evening?"

Looking at him again. He blinked and wondered slightly as he nodded softly. He shivered slightly on the word feed, and closed his eye’s for a few seconds. Though he had let Rowen do it a few time’s and it didn’t hurt that much any more.

“I would let you if I trusted you not to kill me. And I would have to get to know you.” He stated, though he would allow him if they knew each other longer and he trusted him.

“Well this nice is going to be spent on working. Coming up with idea’s to fill the blanket canvasses I have to work on for the building. Maybe a movie at home. But mostly at home.” He said as he looked at him and smiled.

"If you need my help then I will try my best. I'm not very good at painting but I have a knack for coming up with ideas." Joseph said, he wondered why the boy shivered even though it wasn't that cold out. He wouldn't pry into the boy's life too much. "I'm not surprised that you don't trust me don't worry I've already had my fill tonight. I try not to kill my victims." Joseph said thinking about how Alexandra had ravenously fed after they made vampire love a few nights before.

Joseph was so deep in thought that he didn't realize he said Alexandra name aloud.

Nodding ever so softly, he blinked as he kept his eye’s ahead of him. “Oh, I can come up with idea’s. I have my mom, well Vampire mom to help with that if I get stuck. And don’t call them victims unless you kill them. Call them donors, you don’t kill them, but they don’t really give it up easy.” He answered, and sighed softly.

He didn’t even noticed Joe had mentioned a name, and blinked. “Your welcome to come over for a while. I wont mind. Mom’s not home right now, and I don’t think she wont mind much. I’m just in the mood to have someone to talk to.”

Joseph was startled out of his thoughts by Raymond's comment. "I'm sorry I offended you. It's quite difficult to stop myself before I kill them." Joseph smiled when he heard about Raymond's vampiress mother. "I would really like to meet your, ummm, step mother. I'll go with you to talk to you." Joseph was glad the boy didn't notice him whisper the name.

Raymond laughed as he nodded slightly. “I know it’s hard for any vampire not to kill the person they are feeding from.” He said and smiled at him. Listening to him, he nodded and turned down a path to cut through the park.

“I think you’ll like her. She’s part of the Ammon coven. Really old, and really strong. She’s nice though.” He smiled, it was easy to see he loved her like a son should a mother, and she respected his mortal life and did her best to bring him up mortal and not vampire.

Joseph listened carefully to Raymond. "I'm not part of any of the Covens. Let's just say I'm a wanderer. I've been wandering for 19 years." Joseph felt a wave of sadness wash over him as his thoughts returned to Sharon.

"Don't take this the wrong way or anything but I'm impressed she hadn't turned you into a vampire." Joseph was really interested in this boy who's step mother was a vampire.

"So where do you live anyway? I live a few blocks west of here."

Nodding gently, he smiled and looked at the path before them. “Wondering lets people find themselves, or makes things worse. But it happens to the best of us.” He said and looked up at him.

“She wont. She got me when I was about 4 or 5 and brought me up. I respect her, and I’m what changed her really. She use to be a really evil vampire, then I changed her. Long story really, you’d have to talk to her about it.” He said and smiled as he looked at the path before them.

“It’s not to far, a few blocks. A nice house really.” He smiled.

So the boy's house was a few blocks away, good. Joseph was very interested in this boy so he made a note of asking his "mother" about his past.

"So do you have any memories before being taken in by your vampiress mother?" Joseph asked with an all too familiar pang of guilt because of his past. He's been feeling it way too often nowadays.

Raymond blinked as he looked at the path before them and sighed. Thinking back. His eye’s grew soft, and rather sad.

“I only remember by father. I don’t remember much though, but I remember the night she took me.” He said and trailed off before going any farther. His father wasn’t the best, but it was someone, and with Rowen he grew up like a child should.

He changed paths again, heading for the better part of town and sighed softly. “So, how was your life?” He asked looking up from the path at him.

"Hmmm my life was good until I was turned into a vampire. I was adopted by a loving family. I was happy in college, I even had a girlfriend who I married after I was turned. Well after being happily married for some time she was killed by a drunk driver and I ended up wandering until I came here." Joseph let a single tear of blood to well up in his eye and drip down his face.

Raymond listened to him, and nodded slightly as she blinked. Sighing a bit, he looked up at the exit of the park.

“Life isn’t something we can control. No matter how much power a person has, it takes it own way of things.” He said before looking at him. “I’m sure she is still with you though.” He smiled and exited the park, and started down the sidewalk.

Joseph listened closely wiping the tear off his face leaving a small smear of blood on his face. "It's true in more ways than one." Joseph smiled at this remembering the night of love he shared with Alexandra Renald.

"I found that out the hard way twice in my life. The first time almost destroyed me. I came close to becoming a heartless killer that first time." Joseph said this with as much calm as he could, but his eyes showed his guilt and grief like a bright light in the deepest darkness.

"Sorry if I sound like I'm impatient but how much further do we have to go?"

Raymond listened to him still and gave a soft nod. It was hard for any person to understand another pain unless they have been through it themselves. He sighed softly, as he looked up and laughed a bit.

“Not much farther.” He said, and being true to his word, it wasn’t long before they appeared at a nice large house. He opened the front door, and Hawk, his black lab came running out, happy that her owner was finely home.

“Hi Hawk” He smiled and walked inside, holding the door open for him. “I hope you don’t mind dogs.”

"I'm a real dog person myself. Had one with my wife, her name is Sharon." For what seemed like the millionth time Joseph absently stroked his wedding band. "Your dog is beautiful, lab right? Your house is much nicer when compared to my bachelor pad." Joseph laughed at this. He barely had enough money to pay the rent for his apartment, the only money he got was from his 'donors'. Joseph wasn't caught by surprise, most vampires could afford huge houses like this.

"Your mother must be quite wealthy to afford a house like this. I love it." He always enjoyed seeing other vampires houses. He envied vampires with wealth.

Shutting the door once Joe was in, he nodded softly as he turned and pet Hawk, who seems to know where she wanted the pet and moved to head. Raymond blinked and looked up slowly at Joe, then watched him stroke his wedding band, he didn’t push it, and nodded.

“Yea, she’s a Black Lab.” He smiled and moved into the house and set his bag down on the floor just inside the living room door.

“Yea, she came from a rich family in Germany, and she got the money her sire had. After she killed him.” He shivered slightly and looked back at Joe. “It was just the best place, I have a few room’s, and he has most of the rooms upstairs to herself. My room’s up there as well, for some reason I feel safer sleeping up there.”

Joseph nodded at this. What kind of vampire was Raymond's mother? How could she kill her own sire? Sure he met some insane vampires on his journeys but none who would kill her sire. Joseph noticed Raymond looking at his wedding band.

"You can ask me more about my past if you wish. I don't mind." With this Joseph knelt down and patted Hawk on the head.

Raymond blinked and sighed softly as he looked at the wall. “Well she didn’t really kill him, she got a friend to do it for her. Not long after she got me.” He said and looked down at him and smiled.

Hawk sat panting in pure enjoyment of the petting and licked at Joe’s face. Raymond cold only laugh, as he smiled softly.

“If you have any food she’ll search for it, candy anything.” He laughed and moved into the living room. The dog soon followed and sniffed Raymond over and stuck her hand in his bag and started to look.

“Nah, it’s ok, some thing’s aren’t men to be dug into the first night of meeting someone.” He smiled and looked back at him.

Joseph smiled at Raymond's last comment. Yet another lesson he learned the hard way with Leona. God there were way too many lessons in his life.

"Hawk is a beautiful dog. Don't worry I don't have any food on me." Joseph said while wiping off his face. So when is your 'mother' due back? I'm very interested in talking to her." Joseph patted Hawk on the head again. Hawk rolled over onto her back expecting a belly rub, Joe didn't want to disappoint her so he rubbed her belly vigorously but lightly.

He blinked and thought slightly, then his eyes moved to the clock. Wondering, he blinked as he looked back at him, then down at Hawk.

“She should be home soon, she’s always in early.” He smiled and then sat down in a chair and watched the two before him. He wasn’t about to go picking into Joe’s life, it was to early for that, they had just met each other.

Joseph looked up at Raymond and nodded. He then went back to spoiling Hawk with belly rubs. The dog didn't even know him but it seemed like she enjoyed being spoiled.

"Hawk really seems to love belly rubs." Joseph smiled at Raymond thinking about the boys past and about this mystery mother of his.

"For some reason dogs and wolves are attracted to me." Joseph said with a smile on his face. "Maybe it's because I've always had a way with them."

Raymond laughed as he nodded and smiled. “As long as I know you, or my mom knows you, she loves you. And you have to pet her every time you see her, though she just loves pet.” He laughed and smiled softly.

Hawk soon got up and walked around the living room in search of her chew toy. Once found, she picked it up and walked back to Raymond who took one end.

It wasn’t long before Rowen walked in the front door and moved into view of the living room. Looking at Joe with her blue eye’s, she wondered slightly. A strong power came from her as she looked him over in wonder.

“New boyfriend?” She asked looking at Raymond with a grin, then blinked at his look. “It’s always the good ones that don’t swing that way….”

Joseph got up slowly not showing the surprise of not feeling her enter.

"I'm sorry ma'am I just met Raymond. Let's just say we're friends. My name is Joseph Kingsland I'm new here." Joseph extended his hand for Rowen to shake. "I quite literally ran into your son on my way to a business meeting." Joseph smiled at this last bit remembering knocking the boy down.

"I asked Raymond about you but he said I'd have to wait until you came home. You have a beautiful house." Joseph smiled at Rowen.

Raymond was in the background playing with Hawk, was growling and pulling on the toy as Raymond pulled back.

Rowen watched then, then looked back to Joe and nodded slightly. She took his hand gently as she nodded softly. “Yes, he doesn’t like to talk about much. And he’s just that kind of person to let me explain it.” She said softly as she blinked a bit.

She blinked and nodded slightly as she wondered a bit. “Oh, thank you. I wanted Raymond to grow up with a good life.” She smiled and it was easy to see she loved Raymond as if he was her own birth son.

Joseph kissed the top of Rowen's hand then let go. He nodded as he she said she wanted Raymond to have a good life.

"Sorry if I seem to be prying but what was your life like before you were turned into a vampire?" Joseph knew she was old from Raymond's description but he didn't know how old.

She nodded softly as she smiled at him. At lest he was a gentlemen, and kind, though a young vampire. She blinked at his question, then nodded slightly.

“Well so you know, I‘m old, 2510 years old. But in all, I had a good life before I was turned. I came from a vary well of family in Germany.” She smiled as she looked at him, then sighed softly.

“Well if you want to know about him, then come with me, and let the two kids play.” She said as both Raymond and hawk looked up from the floor. She smiled and started into the kitchen.
