Title: The Lack Of Predation
Description: Where'd everyone go...
Jonah - October 19, 2003 01:41 PM (GMT)
In the past months the withdrawl was apparent..the reek of mortal flesh growing stronger with each night and the scent of decay and blood dwindling. No longer were nightly walk topics between human friends the gruesome death of a bum or whore or perhaps one of their own aquaintences.
The city was like every other now it seemed, the people at peace now that the attacks had declined. Though, anyone who dared to believe that the grotesque murders in the alley ways, the clubs, and mst abundant in the vicinity of the subway was a fool.
Yes, the one who found art in the mutilations, the taste, and the blood still remained, and so shall his masterpieces. He'd always stay, never to leave, never to allow the city folk peace from his art. For it was here where he believed his art could be most appreciated.
-------------------------------
As usual, the streets were trickling with the scum of society, though every few minutes a succesful or high classed person could be spotted, sampling the whores and the drink being sold in the bar just over there. Music boomed from the clubs down the streets, though at the time that had no appeal for Jonah who sat spying from his perch on a motel roof top.
His expression was sober as he watched the night time play of his prey in the streets. Not one, did he see, was blessed with eternal youth. It was unusual.. A month ago there could have very well been an entire clan of Nephim strewn through the groups of whores and pimps, and several Ishak walking proudly in their high class dressings. But now it was all to him it seemed. There was only one other that he did give a damn for..the one he felt disappointed not to see on the streets... Kamaria. Blood like a well aged wine, a delicate and rare one. How it missed her.
A smirk now played across his cold pale lips and his dark green eyes narrowed as he looked over every face of the humans passing by below, tring to pick out his next snack.
"'Tis a time to thrive, as there is a lack of predation and the game flourishes..." He spoke in a quiet whisper to himself and within the next moment he had jumped from the roof top to the shadowed, paved alley.
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 03:27 AM (GMT)
The soft tapping of footsteps reverberated off the random buildings that lied about, fading into a soft echo. The moon glowed brightly overhead, reflecting off the translucent glass of the windows and stars dappled the cobalt-esque heavens, the constellations particularly visible on this cloudless night.
Meandering slowly down the street was a rather short figure; a child perhaps. Clothed in a simple black dress, ending in pleats just above the knee and revealing gauntly thin limbs, and a pair of silky black gloves reaching to just above the elbow, this particular girl was rather unsuitably dressed for such a frigid night. Not that it was freezing temperature, there was simply a underlying chill to the wind.
Silvern eyes possessing an unwavering iridesence peered out from tendrils of subtly waved, deep chocolate coloured hair, which fell to an unattractively thin waist. Swirls of amethyst and indigo were merged together throughout the silvery basis of the darkly lashed eyes, seemingly mingling about like oil dripping into water.
The girl's face was youthful, though not that of a child. Judging from her appearance, her age would be around thirteen; which was quite correct, indeed. A silver ring graced each thin, tapered finger and a necklace hung loosely from around her neck, a small pendant hanging in front, the design of which was quite interesting, though not 'magical' in any sort. It was simply a decoration.
Ailsa had finally left Sebastien alone to allow him to go about his own business, not particularly wishing to watch him...feed. The mortal girl gave a small yawn, leaning back against the steps and staring up at the sky, dark tendrils of hair splayed about her pale face.
Jonah - October 20, 2003 07:17 PM (GMT)
A sweet aroma filled the streets now it seemed..the scent of mortal youth. The sounds of whores and their clients cackling and wooing in the dark allies, and the gossiping of good folk about the inappropriate people drained from the world and only the sounds of the clicking of the girl's heals was left.
Jonah lurked to where the side walk and alley merged, though remained concealed to a point to be hidden but still capable of spying the fragile girl walking.
His cold, pale lips curved upwards as he walked on. She had a fcae that would do beautifully with his art...
The man, if he could be called that, drummed his fingers lightly on his back pocket where his disposible camera was stored away. It was down to twenty pictures now.. The seven already used baring the beauty of his work. Perhaps, when another youth, such as this girl, were used to make a masterpiece others would begin to appreciate Jonah's art as he did.
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 08:04 PM (GMT)
Sinking to the ground, she sat upon the sidewalk, her back resting lightly against the wall of the building behind her. Another soft yawn was emitted, eyes closing momentarily, then reopening at the sound of another walking.
Looking about the streets curiously, she attempted to find the source, yet found she could not. Eyebrows raised quizically, then lowered once again as she mentally dismissed the thought. Probably just her imagination...though...she wasn't normally the least bit nervous, let alone paranoid. Hn.
Bringing her knees up, she wrapped her arms around them and set her chin atop, looking quite relaxed despite the lack of comfort that the ground held.
Jonah - October 20, 2003 08:54 PM (GMT)
Jonah walked quietly, keeping a predatory eye on the young girl, watching her shield herself from the cold he could not feel. He walked past her, stopping several yards away to lean against the brick wall. He retrieved his camera from his back pocket and aimed for a shoot. With a click and white flash he had captured a picture of the frail girl.
"My my..shouldn't you run along home little missy? At this hour surely it is past bed time." He spoke in a young hollow voice, perhaps only filled with mischevious notes, as he replaced his camera in his pocket. "Hope you don't mind. I was intrigued.." Jonah smirked.
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 09:25 PM (GMT)
The bright flash of the camera caught her attention and she sat up straight, looking toward Jonah. Tilting her head to one side questioningly, she finally realised what the light had been.
"Bed time?" She questioned, giving a small smile. "I don't have a bed time, I live with a vampire," the girl explained, nodding once. Hearing the next comment, she looked quite puzzled. "Intrigued? How so?" The possibility of she, herself, intriguing anyone had never even crossed her mind.
Jonah - October 20, 2003 09:42 PM (GMT)
Jonah's pale green eyes narrowed ever so slightly and his smirk widened to a pride filled smile. "I am an artist you could say.. I take things or people and give them a beauty they could never achieve on their own. Perhaps I could show you some of my work later on, seeing as you haven't a bed time."
A young teenage mortal living with a vampire..sounnded unlikely unless, of course, it was an Enashe she lived with. "But see here, missy, you shouldn't make up stories like that. Why everybody knows there is no such things as vampires.." He decieved with a sly grin.
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 09:53 PM (GMT)
This seemed to peak her interest. The shy smile returned and she nodded after a moment of silent thinking. "I like art. It's very interesting." Considering his words, she blinked thrice. "People? You mean like a makeup artist or something?" That had to be what he meant, or at least something along those lines.
"Stories?" She questioned. "I'm not making up stories. He told me that he was a vampire...he said so. Though..I've never seen him act like a vampire, I'm sure they're real..." Reassuring herself of this, she nodded once more.
Jonah - October 20, 2003 10:00 PM (GMT)
"A make up artist? What do you take me for? I do photography, paintings, you could say modeling.." Jonah praised himself internally, seeing the girl's peek of interest in his work. Now what was it that the Ancient had suggested? Ah yes a studio, that's the word. "I keep photos of each one in my studio."
Jonah shook his head at her comment about her companion. "As for your friend..lunatic should do him justice. NO, such things as vampires."
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 10:05 PM (GMT)
"Sorry," she replied sheepishly, followed by a small giggle. "I didn't even think about that." Pausing a moment, she shifted uncomfortably. "You have a studio? Wow, you must be good at it." This comment lacked sarcasm completely, she was simply one of those odd people who weren't capable of being insincere.
"Sebastien isn't a lunatic," she responded indignantly, thin brows furrowing lightly. "Well, maybe he's kind of strange, but he's not a lunatic. He wasn't even drunk when he said that. And besides, how do you know that there aren't vampires? Just because you haven't seen them, doesn't mean they don't exist." Ah, yes. She was completely oblivious.
Jonah - October 20, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
Jonah chuckled. "Vampires were made up to keep little children at home at night and to keep faith in their religion. The two behaviors that any parent could hope for in an obediant child. Tell you what, if you want to make sure your friend is a vampire just scoot him out in the morning see what happens." He joked playfully, though to himself he thought about the benefit of ridding the world of one more worthless Enashe.
Ailsa Ackart - October 20, 2003 10:19 PM (GMT)
Taking this literally, as usual, she gave a rather serious reply. "He doesn't particularly like sunlight...I can never get him up earlier than six at night, and even so, he stays inside." Shrugging slightly, she gazed out at the street.
Pausing, she glanced over to him, falling silent for a moment before speaking again. "Anyways, what are you doing out so late? I suppose you don't have a bed time either."
Jonah - October 20, 2003 11:41 PM (GMT)
He grinned slightly and chuckled. "No offense ment..just toying." The girl seemed particularly keen on this Sebastian, though Jonah was disgusted by the supposed vampire by just hearing about him. The prospect of befriending a mortal, well as Jonah often put it, it'd be like a human befriending a pizza or cheeseburger.
His thoughts of disgust were cut short by her query. The question was unexpected but even so he was swift to answer. "Nightly stroll, thought I might get a bite to eat and pop into my studio to do some touch ups and such."
Ailsa Ackart - October 21, 2003 12:43 AM (GMT)
"At this time of night?" Looking a little skeptical, though ignoring it, she shook her head. "There's a lot of insomniacs these days." Having just been talking about vampires and the reason for him being out so late...it was quite sad that she hadn't put two-and-two together.
Glancing up to the sky, she tilted her head. "Speaking of...lateness...I should probably be getting back home soon.." Standing, she brushed herself off lightly. "Nice to meet you," she said with a half-smile.
Jonah - October 21, 2003 12:57 AM (GMT)
He stood now without the support of the wall to lean on. "Ah but missy, would you care to come to my studio, it's just down a way, just to fetch a calling card and fill out some papers and perhaps do some demo shots before you retire? Won't take long."
His veins ached, running dry and in need of the drink prized by his kind to fill them. The girl for now, seemed to prove to be an appetizing snack until he found something bigger like the man and woman who now lay rotting by the subway.
Jonah gestured down the street behind him. "It'd only take a half hour or so, not long at all."
Ailsa Ackart - October 21, 2003 02:38 AM (GMT)
Her footsteps faltered and she tilted her head to one side, glancing back. "Well..um, I guess so." Looking pained for a moment, she narrowed her eyes slightly. "I don't think Sebastien will mind if I'm late...he'd probably be glad to get rid of me anyway." Smirking slightly, she turned and started back in his direction.
"But...I've never really done that before. I don't know if I'd be good at it..." Stopping once she was closer to him, she glanced in the direction he had motioned to.
Jonah - October 30, 2003 10:18 PM (GMT)
Internally he cringed and scoffed, the girl's sugary and modest attitude was quite an irritation but as of now with all those around he didn't quite intend to cause any commotion on the street, as tempting as it was. Oh, did his veins and teeth ache for the thirst to be quenched with the sacred drink, how he wanted to just take it now, like the others.
Jonah forced a convincing chuckle and as kindly and humanly a smile he could muster. "Such nonesense, you look to be a natural. Now let's not dally, we've got other places to be."
He took a side step back and gedtured for her to walk with him. Ah the formalities, such a nuisance, but something that often times allowed mortal to trust others. Soon enough his kind gestures would be just a wisp of memory, and only a painful, cold death (as he remembered it) would be apparent.
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 12:13 AM (GMT)
"I hope so," she replied. Then with a nod, she fell into step with him. Swinging her arms childishly, she looked around as they walked. "I haven't been very far from home lately, except for downtown." She stated randomly, falling at a sudden loss of words.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 02:24 AM (GMT)
He forced a cough, to hide his irritation with her ramblings. It was an understatement that he didn't care the least for how far from home she had been, all that mattered was geeting a good feed.
His eyes scanned the buildings, in all honesty he didn't have a studio, unless the shut down subway tunnels could be counted as one. Ah, there, a building of old brick. The building was familiar to him, a woman (if she could be called one as much as he could be called a man), whose blood tasted like the richest of wines, had lived there...Kam.
Within an instant his aching thirst exiled the memory as he pushed the door open to a fine yet dusty foier. A stairwell rose up in the center of the entrance and along the walls were many doors. Any would do. He walked to one, putting his back to Alisa and fumbling with the knob until the lock finally clicked, broken. He turned and gave a grin.
"Right through here and we can begin."
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 02:31 AM (GMT)
Gazing around at the place, she tilted her head. "It's nice here," she remarked in her usual, obnoxiously polite way. This despite the fact that she mentally noted that this place didn't really look like a studio....but then again, she had never been to one anyway.
Dropping her gaze back down, then to the door, she nodded. "Okay," was her simple response.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 02:55 AM (GMT)
Jonah opened the door, allowing Alisa an entrance, no longer concerned about anything looking convincing, from here on force would be used if there were any questions. He came in quickly, shutting the door behind them and retreiving the camera from his pocket, drumming on it with his fingers.
"Miss?" He said softly, and in a hollow voice as he held up the disposable.
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 02:58 AM (GMT)
Again, at the change of surroundings, she glanced around once she stepped in. Somewhere in her mind, something was doubting the safety of this situation...perhaps something she was told as a small child...
Hearing a voice, her attention was drawn back and she glanced toward Jonah. "Yes?" The girl questioned.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 03:09 AM (GMT)
Click. A picture was taken and now Jonah needn't wait a moment longer. He smirked, and for the first time his two pairs of elongated canines were visible. He stashed the camera and clapped his hands, begining a stride around Alisa.
"Bravo li'l miss, you'll be happy to hear that you're just what I need for my next masterpiece." He chuckled as he thought of many different things to title it when he developed the film.
"Though, I'm sure this will come as an unpleasant suprise, you were right about one thing.. We do exist.." The smirk became a devious grin and his dark green eyes narrowed as he circled her.
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 03:11 AM (GMT)
The hint of a smile crossed her face at the first comment, but then was quickly replaced by a look of confusion. Watching him curiously, she frowned. "What...do you mean?" She asked quietly, Irish accent coming through particularly strong.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 03:22 AM (GMT)
In a swift moment to which the human eye is incapable of comprehending, Jonah was barely and inch from her, his shoulders stooped to allow him to whisper in her ear as he touched her arm with cold, white finger tips. "..Vampires."
Another chuckle escaped him and he closed his hands about her upper arm, his gaze dropping to her neck and then once more to her face. "We are so very real.. The half of us are worse than your friend Sebastion...worse than what the books depicts us as..."
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 03:28 AM (GMT)
Tensing as his icy grip closed about her arm, she closed her eyes for a moment, before reopening them. A shiver ran through her thin frame and she looked at him, somewhat warily.
"Vampires? I'm not afraid of vampires..." Speech faltered slightly, though she was careful not to admit her fear. This did not really help, considering the look on her face betrayed everything she had said.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 03:36 AM (GMT)
He merely looked at her with narrowed gaze and fangs exposed in a grin. "Then you are foolish.." Jonah knew there was an emptiness in what she said, he saw it in the line in her face and could smell the scent of fear reeking off her.
HIs grin widened and with another unseen movement he burried his faced into the curve of her neck, the four canines sinking into her soft skin rupturing a precious and heavily flowing vein.
Sweet drink. The only thing to which he ached these days, that and his art and she soon enough would be art as well.
(g2g)
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 03:43 AM (GMT)
(See you later!)
As his fangs sunk into her neck, she let out a small shriek, having not expected that. Unusually coloured eyes closed tightly, and she fell still for a moment from the shock of the situation. Arms automatically went up, instinctively wanting to push him away.
Finding she couldn't, she struggled under his grasp, fingers curling around the fabric of his shirt in an attempt to move him away. The crimson liquid spilled from the lacerations in her neck, causing her grip to loosen from lack of blood. "No, please.." came a very quiet protest.
Jonah - October 31, 2003 07:41 PM (GMT)
Her struggle only fascinated him more, and he pressed his canines a little deeper into her neck. His grip tightened aswell, not wanting such a fine catch to have a chance to get away.
Jonah could fell his dried veins begining to flow with her blood, and a slight warmth came to his skin along with a little humanly color. The feeding and the feeling of blood running through him was exilerating, though he would have to pull away, or his masterpiece would be spoiled.
Just a little more..that's all he wanted only a little more than he would stop and carry on with the art.
Ailsa Ackart - October 31, 2003 08:44 PM (GMT)
Giving a small whimper, she gave up completely on trying not to seem afraid. Her breathing came in short, shallow breaths, partly from fear and partly from the blood loss.
Feeling weaker, she felt her mind starting to fade away as the struggling slowed until she finally gave up and stood still, simply...waiting.
Jonah - November 8, 2003 02:07 PM (GMT)
It took a great deal of will power for Jonah to pry himself from the amusing meal, though when he did her blood stained his pallid skin and his shirt. It seemed an usual thing to do, to take a camera out at this point and photograph the draining girl but he did.
He pocketed the camera and knelt beside her, running blood dampened fingers through her hair as he looked into her face. He grinned, the once pearly white teeth now painted a wet red. "Now, missy, I'll give you a choice.. I can finish you off, right here. Or I can let you go on with a new life.. Either way is of pleasure to me. Now what'll it be?"
((hey, if you've changed your mind since we last talked ooc just tell me and i'll have him leave. ^.^))
Ailsa Ackart - November 9, 2003 05:01 AM (GMT)
Looking pained at the bright flash of the camera, she watched him blankly. Shoulders rising and falling with each laboured breath, she closed her eyes for a moment and considered her answer as well as her fogged mind could allow her. After a moment, her multicoloured eyes reopened to look at him.
"Make me like you," was her quiet, breathy response. Why she chose this was puzzling. After experiencing that, why would she ever want to put someone else through the same pain? Even she didn't know why. But that was her answer and she knew that for sure.
Jonah - November 9, 2003 05:56 PM (GMT)
((ok im gonna do this the hollywood way, lol))
Jonah chuckled, he had hoped she would answer so.. Her birth would be a pure work of art, a masterpiece. Innosence to a life of sin. It was marvelous. "Good choice missy.." He spoke quietly.
He brought his wrist to his mouth, bitting down into the vein. As blood began pulse freely, flowing over his skin and dripping like a weak rain to the ground, he offered his forearm to the girl. "Take my blood as your own and be reborn to live a life unmatched by your previous one."
Ailsa Ackart - November 9, 2003 08:33 PM (GMT)
(XD Ah, but it's the best way..)
Taking his arm, she latched on like a hungry child, lapping at the blood slowly. As she did so, colour flushed back into her face and she made small sounds like someone awakening from a dream.
Holding tighter to his arm, she sucked lightly on the wound he had made, feeling the cool crimson liquid run down the back of her throat.
Jonah - November 10, 2003 02:15 AM (GMT)
Just like the other rebirths he had witnessed the girl had been quite demanding of the blood it seemed, but of course her own ran near empty and it was such a sensational drink, how could one deny it.
As she drank on he himself began to feel the slight queaziness. He bit his lip and furrowed his brow just until it had been enough. "That's plenty missy..." A stern note in his voice as usually was the manner for most. He pushed her away with his foot, once more bringing his wrist to his mouth, this time to lick the remains from his skin.
Jonah cradled his arm close to him and reached into his back pocket with the other, retrieving his camera again and taking numerous pictures of the girl.
Ailsa Ackart - November 10, 2003 02:55 AM (GMT)
(Hm, not sure exactly what would happen afterwords, so I'll just...guess. XD)
As he took his arm back, she looked displeased at having to let go. A thin trail of blood ran from the corner of her mouth and she wiped it away, studying the blood on her finger intently. As her breathing settled, she looked around the room, a little bewildered at the new senses she was gaining.
Jonah - November 16, 2003 02:59 PM (GMT)
"Exilerating isn't it? The feel of it flowing through your dry veins. Time and death cannot touch you now..." He chuckled, leaning back against the wall, cradling his arm still. The process of healing for Terapha took slightly longer than other vampires, though it could be sped up sometimes with a meal..
Replacing the camera into his back pocket he outstretched his hand to her, his fingers beckoning her to stand. "You want more..I know you do, I did too. We'll get you more, and you shall witness and experience the pleasures of the hunt from your new perspective.."
Ailsa Ackart - November 16, 2003 11:54 PM (GMT)
"I'll be this young forever?" She questioned rhetorically, as if confirming what he had said. At this point, it seemed like a good thing. Never having to worry about growing up and getting a job and all the things which came along with adulthood.
"Yes, more..." She said in a whisper. Nodding in reply, she took his hand and stood, pulling herself up.
Jonah - November 19, 2003 03:48 AM (GMT)
He retracted his hand once he was up, turning to lead the way out from the now ranking room..filled with the putrid smell of death and the wood floor stained with a new paint. As he walked, passing through the door frame, he nodded and wiped his face onto his sleeve. "Young forever..."
It occured to him now that in time this gift would quite possibly become despised by the girl. All too many times had he seen younglings have a fit because the could not grow to be women. He shrugged to himself, merely just a piece of work to him nothing more. Her problem were to be her own after this night.
Ailsa Ackart - November 20, 2003 12:47 AM (GMT)
Following behind Jonah, she fell silent once more. Casting a glance back at the room, she raised her eyebrows the slightest bit, then looked back ahead and continued following. "How old were you when you," she paused. "were made into a vampire?" This was out of pure curiousity.
