Yes it was short and sweet this one, about 45 minutes they were on for. Not sure what happened, everything was going great and then it was over. No encore, no Blindness, etc, it seemed like they just cut it short. We missed the support bands cos we were in the pub but The Fall came on about 10.15. They ripped through all the songs at about twice the pace of the recorded versions - base or coke, you tell me? Good crowd, it was pretty full and there were lots of people in their 20s. Excellent gig, roll on the next one. Great to meet up with Kelsa, Cupid, Zoot, Hanley and his bro, Grog, Bradx (thanks for getting me in), sorry if I've forgotten anyone.

What the hell was all that all about? I am pissed, so watch out. Set list is a photocopy for God's sake. What has become of The Fall? Gig ended with Assume at 40 mins?. MES was happy, and Ben was Happy. The band were happy. MES WAS NOT drunk. That's bollocks.

If I was his mother, I would spank his arse. Silly boy.

I have some superb photos of MES having a great time. I have no idea what he is on.

Play the London crowd a full set I bet. They are not the Provinces after all.

Fall Heads Roll? Like tonight, it's a bit 2nd best.

Fair comment - they could've played the whole set, but what they did play was quality, sounded great.

Is that the right set list? They played a song I didn't recognise, sounds a bit like Mr Pharmacist could've been Higgldey Piggledy.

40 minutes?

No, but I wasn't gonna start laying into the poor girl on the merch stall like some of the audience did, nor did I start chanting "wankers" at the band.

It wasn't perfect at all, MES just lost interest at the end, 40 minutes was nowhere near enough, but I'm not gonna slate the gig cos what there was of it was pretty good

The "?" was definately not RPWT, I agree with Steve Hamilton, sounded like Mr Pharmacist, but wasn't.

I'd managed to wangle myself a place at the very front and saw the set list and to my fucking annoyance saw that they had planned to play blindness after assume and then had touch sensative, box and white lightening-(i think it said white lightening). The song before grass grow was higgledy piggledy by the way.So they missed off four of their planned songs!! What is it with me and encores, when i saw them in london they onlt managed an instrumental blindness as an encore and there was nothing here! That said, I thought what they did play was superb.Sparta was particually hot tonight. Bo D was a bit dissapointing and i get the impression they'd gotten somewhat bored with it and started pissing about. Funny highlights included MES fiddling with a stage light next to Eleni, grinning widely for some mug shots from the crowd, spencer dropping his drumstick in Mountain Energei and some guy standing next to me repeatedly shouting for Garden and Wings as though there was a chance they'd be played. What about us? seemed to last for about 8 minutes and was extremely good. So all in all I thought it was extremely good-MES seemed overtly jovial- but far FAR FARRRR too short and looking at the setlist seemed like an on-stage decision.

Hasn't affected C2 gigs in the past, and the April gig went on for ages after 11

Backing music went on for 15 mins at least. Bouncer guy looked like he thought they were coming back on.

There was time. But there you go. I need a shower and my mug cocoa.

You're right Toby they've changed Bo D around a bit but I thought it was pretty good. Also, Eleni had a new dress I think and looked fab.

One theory for the short set - the drugs wore off. They were flying when they came on, I could tell.

It was, indeed, Higgldy Piggldy, a song I'd never heard before smile.gif

But the berevity offset the excellence. I was really enjoying the gig - why on earth did MES pull the gig when all seemed to be going soooo well? I just don't understand question.gif

Must bugger off to me bed, but it was a good meet-up - very pleased to meet HPAFP and Brother, Steve H, Kelsa, Grog, The Man Who's Gut... and Max plus various friends - only wish I'd met BradX who made a brief, (according to Steve) but very welcome appearance sleep.gif

I know he'll hate it, but I got on well with a certain west ham fan tonight - look forward to Thursday, Kelsa...I won't tell yer mates if you don't! laugh.gif

Steve, you might have a point about the drugs...

Good to meet some good lads tonight in the Sidewinder. Deaf Wife will still be on the train to London! He gave my missus a fiver petrol money to station! Wouldn't take it back! See you in The Nags Head next week. Where the fuck is the Nags Head?

Ah! I'll tell you, but it'll cost you that fiver... tongue.gif

On Upper Street, which is the main road in Islington. (Out of the Angel tube, turn right and the other side of the road)

See you there for another riotous evening! whistle.gif

Was a pretty disappointing Fall gig tonight IMO. sad.gif
They kept the crowd waiting ages until they finally appeared, then only played for 40 minutes, Mark didn't even bother singing on the last song. And no encore either. What they did play was pretty good though. They'll be a lot better next time I see them, I'm sure. smile.gif

Yeah, nice photos.

I've got to know, cos i've not seen the fall in 8 years (stayed a fan but stopped going to gigs for some reason) - is that standard MES these days, or was he exceptionally fucked last night? Last time i saw them he was pissed but last night was like a bad caricature.

The band were great though, and what we did get was very good.

Q: Why was MES' work closed down?
A: For Elven safety reasons!

I know that I'm going to sound like a boring old fart but I thought that the gig last night was disappointing, both in terms of the brevity of the set and the very poor sound quality. Perhaps I was mistaken to go to the front but the sound was painfully loud/distorted and MES's vocals were way too low in the mix. It would be better to see them in a bigger venue where the sound has room to breathe.

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood having waited so long to see them in extremely uncomfortable surroundings. All I can say is, if this was a good show, then I'd hate to see them on an off night.

Where I was stood last night, the sound quality was good. I've heard better, but it was very acceptable. The performance was superb.

They played very fast, but were tight and powerful. The venue was very warm, Ben even took his jacket off and was having trouble keeping his hands sweat free. I wonder if that had anything to do with the brevity of the set.

Of course I would have preferred it if they had played longer, but I was realised this morning that I'm not too worried about this. When I got to work I spoke to a colleague that recently saw the Cribs, Maximo Park and the Kaiser Chiefs. Straight away I realised that I would rather see 43 minutes of the Fall than 3 hours of them.

Hi to the guys I met last night, Steve the e-mail is on its way.
