just got back. it was a good one. M.E.S in top form, looked to be enjoying himself immensely even dealing with the numerous stage invaders. it all got a bit wild. Blindness was as good as i've ever heard it. M.E.S onstage for the whole gig including Boxctosis encore too!!!!

Aye, thoroughly enjoyed it. I wouldn't class myself as a stage invader, but found myself sitting on the stage and facing the audience for half of Pharmacist & Boxoctosis. Also got handed Mark's mic during Blindness - managed to belt out "He is not appreciated" before someone grabbed it off me...

Particularly liked Pacifying Joint running into What About Us. And Blindness was tremendous.

Met Bezenby and a couple of other folk from here, although I didn't make it to Tuts... Not sure if the gig was quite as good as their QMU show earlier this year, but I had a superb time anyway...

Yes o Yes. What a gig! I thot it was going to turn into a pure riot at the end. Its only the Renfrew Ferry for Christ sake! As usual every Fall gig I go to there is always a beautiful young girl in front of me, tonites one was a girl with a tarten bunnet! Noticed also the bird that works in "Rockers" was there too.
I switched Elenors keyboard off before the encore! Tried to touch her towards the end. Aw! so close and yet so far! Guy beside me shouted "Give us a kiss!", but she wasn't havin' it!
MES's vocals were pretty rubbish at the start but picked up after a few songs. So why did he turn the bass down? That pissed me off slightly................
Such a good tight band, if only I could convince friends and family otherwise!

I saw you fidget with the keyboards...

My mate was moaning about the folks down the front spoiling evertything... guess that's you & me convicted, then...

Nah, it's a site called Last FM, used to be audioscrobbler. It takes a note of what you're listening to, produces charts and recommends things you might like based on what you already play.

For example go here to see what folk that like The Fall have been listening to...

Great night.Took along a mate who hadnt heard the Fall before last week and he loved it.
Anyone know who was on stage signing Box encore. I asked mixing desk at the end but things are a bit hazy! They said it was Steve James who used to do a Soul show on Tv or Radio.
Anyway, Fall were brilliant and MES looked much happier than last time at QM.I think he needs more mics on stage, the four he was using from time to time not enough!

Good gig...I'm in work now and very rough. Went to Tuts and found there was no one there, until a fella and his wife turned up (the Wishaw Militia)...had a gibber waiting for Tex and Martin to show up as Tuts filled up with youngsters...missed the support band but managed to stock up on booze while Alan Wise and JCC were talking (dunno if they were good - wasn't listening)...

The Fall were spot on. MES had good cause for all the mike swapping, as he was low in the mix...highlights for me were the Box encore (some guy sharing vox), Midnight Aspen and Mountain Energei...met Mr Bystander and DJBawbag and shared a taxi home with two very nice non-forum fellas...

oh - and the guy doing vox on box looked like an old Jim Watts and there was a guy in the crowd who was the double of David Bowie...

plus I was asked to point out last night that people from Wishaw can and in some circumstances surpass the drinking capacities of people from Coatbridge...

and I enjoyed Mr Pharmacist last night too....

thought the band were tight and played well last night. MES 'live mixing' i found a bit frustrating cos the bass lines are fantastic and for half of it you couldny hear them. But no matter. He was on form otherwise.

Was having a debate with my mate about the guys invading the stage/fiddling with the gear/the band etc etc.. I personally thought it was a bit rubbish and that some folk should just behave...did MES not once say something like 'if you want to invade the stage go and form yer own fekin band'....but as my mate said 'you really are a joyless prick'. So it must just be me.

On the scale of the million times ive seen them it wasnt their absolute best but was really really good. Its The Fall and im so glad they are still doing it.

oh aye and one for the anoraks...bens using a Fender Deluxe now and it sounds ace...did he not have a peavey one a while back?

I claim my 10 geek points

ok i'll add my tuppence, band came on at 9.45 after a short set from JCC who was late as he did some weird route ot Glasgow via Newcastle. didn't see the other support.

MES had an amusing entrance banging his head on the low ceiling , vocals low in the mix for first few songs and you couldn't make out a word "good evening we are the Fall from a long long **************" anyone know??

From the previous gigs I wasn't surprised with set list, thoroughly enjoyed it in fact, Blindness was awesome tonight.

The guy on at encore for Boxitosis was Dougie James.

I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the stage invasions and pawing of MES and Elenor and Ben, at one point Ben almost got pulled into crowd, he had some guy holding onto his trouser leg for about 2 minutes , SAD! MES also had some guy grab his crotch!! I dont get that stuff. Jumping on stage fair enough but al the stalky type man handling eurgh!!! its not a westlife gig with 14 year old girls is it!!??

anyway the band seemed to enjoy themselves, joking and laughing and carried it all of professionaly with the band remaining tight. top gig if not rather amusng with the crowd antics and the 60 year old bouncers trying to calm them down!!

roll on tonight

Heh.

A couple more sober observations that the ones I posted last night:

1. Only 2 songs played from before TRNFLP/COTC - top notch
2. Elenor's pursed lips. Stoic throughout, don't think she cracked a smile once.
3. Pharmacist before the encore - better that way.
4. Really liked Elenor's keyboard seque from Pacifying Joint into What About Us...
5. When are they back up here? I want more...

Elenor did smile, during all the mad affectionate tuggins of Ben, Mark and herself. Some guy fell backwards onto the stage and I think she was trying to ask if he was alright!
As usual most folk were pissed and there was a lot of cuddling in the crowd and on stage!
Also this guy was saying to me "Its my 39th birthday today, d'ye think I should go into their dressing room?" I'm like "Aye whatever!" Quite bizzare.
Whatever happened after that I'm not sure.
All in all, the whole gig was total madness!

yea shes cool as a cucumber Elenor, when not playing its hands behind back! she did cracka few smiles during the mini riot and gave a few waves at the end, nice meonebt at start of Blindness when MES started his wizardry on the k/boards and he shared a wry smile wqith Elenor, awwwww.

I have to say that Mrs Pinhead thoroughly enjoyed the gig, she thought the crowd antics were hilarious, especially the drunk who had taken his record sleeves to get signed trying to collect them from the stage once the invasions started. this man and his mrs must have thought JCC was in their living room as they attempted to have private conversations with him during his set whilst taking photos of his shoes, crotch etc. was same man who tried to grab MES crotch. he was absolutely reekin!!!

agree about pharmacist being played before encores, it fitted well with the mood of gig etc. it really got the crowd going even more than i thought was possible!!
still laughing at some of the antics i saw. i was standing down at the side where Elenor was so could see all the moshers down the front of the stage.

full credit to the band for not messing up any of the songs whilst being pulled, groped, harranged.

i wonder if this person here is online as you were the biggest twat of the night...

specs, kinda curly hair, grey swirl fall t-shirt, if you behaved like that in the street you'd be put away. the rubbing of MES back was quite disturbing!!!

Spazzy was it you in the red Birthday Party t-shirt??? remmeber this guy sitting down at the front of the stage.

Is it just me or do some of the goings-on mentioned in some of these posts make anyone else feel mildly uncomfortable?

As Pinhead says, going to see The Fall isn't the same as going to a Westlife gig. How would you fancy being pulled about while doing yer job?

Yrs. Sincerely

the crowd antics were hilarious. When it 1st kicked off i was a bit worried it would provoke an M.E.S walk off but he seemed to enjoy the whole rough and tumble (maybe it brought back memories of the punk rock early days). I was side onto the stage near Eli and the band were laughing quite a lot at the whole carry on though i thought Ben did well to not get pulled right into the crowd. MES even tried to restrain the security at one point with a discreet pat on the back to wave him away from the front. Particularly liked it when MES swatted away some lunatics hand from the keys in Blindness (grabbing the instuments is taking it a bit too far). The whole gig was riotous all in all, bit like a good natured battle, it certaninly upped the bands ante. MES seemed to relish the whole show.

He was right beside me. I only ended up at the front by accident, was moving forward and kinda got shoved.

I was right next to him when he was trying to save his vinyl. Think it might have got danced on at one point. Definitely drenched in beer. Hope that wasn't an original pressing of 'Witch Trials'...

Nah. Long dark hair, black polo-neck.

The bloke that was lying flat out on the stage was just trying to see up Mark's skirt. Nothing wrong with him. To be fair, turning around & sitting down was the most comfortable I got... the stage was at knee height, I was sore this morning.

I got my wish though... No hangover.
