Set:
You wanna
Sparta
Pacifying J
Ride Away
Wrong Place...
...Green Grass
What about us?
Midnight in Aspen
Mountain E
Clasp Hands
Touch Sensitive
Assume
Bo Demmick
Blindness

No encore (again). about an hour. Not quite sure exactly when Bo D played - I always forget to write one song down - age and alcohol I guess.

Mediocre show to me altho interesting in other respects....the three Academy shows overlast 18 months have petered off a fair bit to my jaundiced ears.

If they would like to play more perhaps should come on in time to meet curfew. Just a thought.

Also the queen/ elvis etc slide show/ noise fest (anyone remember Boyd Rice - Non?) is OK once and once only.

Virtually all sets with the exception of the Sheffield show on 7 Oct 2005, which seemed a bit special, have clocked in at 60 mins - I sense a group pacing themselves, as opposed to coming on late. They have started bang on cue at 10pm every night thus far, I believe...

My 4th Fall gig in eight days everyone has been great. Yeah I wish they had come on at ten instead of ten past then we might have got an encore.

Also I believe they played Bo Demmick 2nd last before Blindness if memory serves.

thought it was great. really enjoyed it. smile.gif

i thought touch sensitive was the best. that was amazing. i wish the gig had of been longer, like another half hour or sth.

(jumper) <--- i am not mentioning this.

well i liked the faster tracks. i thought the support was really good. quite sort of brave. surreal also. that elvis one was funny.

i liked the extra long track that they played. i thought maybe touch sensitive was a better version than at wrexham and.. the version of what about us wasnt as good as at wrexham.

i thought he looked well. smile.gif

My 4th gig in 8 days as well. Thought the band was tight with MES having some fun with his mics and mic stands. Only a little bit of knob twidling and keyboard playing tonight with another excellent blindness.

What did Mrs MES come back out to say at the end??? I thought she was saying they want to come back out but the venue wont let them??

The Venue.....normally quite a good venue (Liverpool's best?) but last night all the males got searched on the way in and there were quite alot of extra staff wondering around. In the 30+ gigs I have been to at that venue (inc Killing Joke the night before) I have never been searched or seen so many staff......were they expecting trouble? Lucky the better half had my mini-disc recorder.

we looked 4 you dave but didnt see u !! liverpool is quite mad isnt it. i liked the venue, i really liked the lights and stuff. it was sort of big and comfortable.

i couldnt really see the drummer this time or the lead. i like seeing those two cos they.. i dunno the drummer really goes 4 it doesnt he. one time i think he stood up to check sth and i was like how can he stand up after all that laugh.gif

mes did a little bit of drumming on one of the symbols which was pretty cool. and a bit of a keyboard solo. one time in one of the songs the drummer used alot of the kick drum i think which sounded v good.

cant think of anything else right now. must finish brekkie.

6th October was actually nearer 10.20pm start, as the projection show dragged on and on....

How long did they play on the friday?

This started about 1015, the same as Preston. The slide show ended early-ish but then quite a long gap until band came on.

I suppose this is the first time for years that I've been to two Fall shows so close together so the similar set lists are a bit of a disappointment. I really enjoyed Preston but this seemed a little lacking in something to me

Spence really hammers the drums - it's scary! Ben definitely not 'directing' things as much as he had done in the last couple of years - this is a very tight unit now - upheavals must be due! (joking)

did they do the really fast 'TOUCH SENSITIVE' like they did at preston?

I thought was really good... the best version for me [well live anyway]... i actually prefer the record.

well its wierd cos the first time i ever heard it was at wrexham. never heard the track b4. laugh.gif thought it was really good.

then at liverpool was really f-ing blinding. i shamed myself up by shouting exitedly at the band "fucking TUNE mate !!" how embarrasing. o well. cant be helped. i know alot of other ppl at that gig must have been er overcome by the.. power of the.. various.. music.

o bloody hell etc.

so yes it was quite fast, i asked maf and he said yeh it was a fast version.

phew. yes. !!!!!!!!!!

applaud.gif

also on another subject did u know grandmaster flash is playing somewhere in wales on october 22nd. drum and bass in the second room.

wow !! ohmy.gif

thats what i thought. i thought the guy was saying sth like, sorry we've got noise restrictions or sth... then when everyone sort of roared at him elenor came out. smile.gif

elenor was wearing on this occasion some kind of short black jacket ? red lipstick + hair down + black eyeliner i think, with like a black ruffled miniskirt with white polka dots, black tights and suede high heel boots. at wrexham she was wearing these amazing shoes, like high heel doll like shoes, black with flowers on.

mark was wearing for the wrexham gig black shirt and trousers.. now for the liverpool gig he was wearing a jumper which... i havent seen that type before.. white longsleeve shirt (but he might have changed into short sleeved shirt at the end) with black trousers, shiny black shoes. looked v smart.

I thought MES' jumper was superb - black, long sleeved, very fitted, with this weird metallic silver print thing on the front.

The gig was fantastic. A bit gutted about the lack of encore ( they could have come on a bit earlier, I suppose) and John Cooper Clarke repeated half the material from the last gig, but Blindness - with MES twiddling with Steve's bass amp to good effect - was fantastic. No Pharmacist or White Lightning either smile.gif

Bought a copy of The Pseud Mag, which complimented my Sunday morning hair-of-the-dog and fry-up marvellously smile.gif

Just hoping those who were there don't take their dissapointment out on me but....

My mate is the venue manager for the Liverpool Carling Academy and unfortunately it would appear he got rather p*ssed off with MES as the day progressed, culminating in him turning the lights on when the band were getting ready to go back on stage! He'd been trying to get them on at the agreed time at the start of the gig but MES was having none of it! Hence when the curfew passed my mate thought "thats enough of that!".

It must have been you I bought it off, Dave. Sorry, it didn't click at the time! I was the lad in the leather jacket and the hoody with the longish hair (if that helps).

Well done with the Pseud Mag, by the way. It's a good read, kind of like a portable, non-electric, Brixlookalike-free version of this forum biggrin.gif

That the first Fall gig in Liverpool I've missed in the last 25 years. O I've been such a fool - I was actually in Liverpool on Saturday as well, never mind though as i'll see them in Oxford quite soon.

Does anyone know who the support act with the cowboy shirts were? Thought their last song was excellent.
