Just got back from Wrexham, Another excellent gig.
Only on for about 55 mins with no encore and only about 150 people there. They seemed to play an extra long "What about us" and a superb "Blindness" Time for bed, and the set-list might follow if I get chance to hear the mini-disc in the morning. |

Absolutley amazing, tight and heavy. Mark on top form, best I've heard in ages. Turned up the bass full whack a few times, had to take a few steps back during blindness thought I was going to have a heart attack.
Been up since 7, knackered. Night. Jim |

Beat me to it Snowey!
Yes, crowd was pretty poor, especially compared to Manchester...worth the visit though, as you could get a great view with little hassle...sound, although slightly loud, was better too (IMO). Re-winding the DAT (subject to the ringing in my ears , sounds excellent!!), I timed it at an hour, although I can check properly tomorrow....came on at 10.15, so the curfew probably meant they did the "encores" without leaving the stage beforehand...started with Sparta...no White Lightning...... I HATE THE COUNTRYSIDE...SO MUCH !!!!!!! Not seen JCC for years, and really enjoyed him too!! |

Clayts,
Running order was... Sparta/Pacifying Joint/Clasp Hands/Ride Away/Contraflow/Wrong Place Right Time~Grass Grow/What About Us/Midnight Aspen/Touch Sensitive/You Wanna/(Breaking the Rules)/Blindness/ Higgledy Piggledy I've put Breaking the Rules in brackets because I wasn't sure. Crowd probably was about 150, maybe 200, but venue wouldn't have safely held many more. Again big age range from teens to old buggers like me. Plenty of females in audience. Band once more on form. Longish intro to Blindness, with Mark on random keyboards. As good if not better than Manchester, but crowd reaction subdued - mainly due to lack of numbers. As stated earlier no encore. Came on at 10:15 off at 11:15, lights stayed down and it was 10 minutes before they went up and everyone left. If I heard it correctly Mark sang during Touch Sensitive "It was all sort of Higgledy Piggledy" Usual tangles with microphones, Mark seem to confiscate all of them, hence apart from on Sparta backing vocals were limited. How long is it since they have not played Bo D? I know I could check up. Met up with Fallfandave and bought latest edition of Pseud Mag. I have a copy of the venues promotional A3 poster if it is any use for uploading. |

Breaking The Rules is the one which sounds like Walk Like A Man, if that helps ?
Thanks for this -------------------- |

errr....not really, I drove there - about 45-mins and 35-mins back playing FHR all the time. As soon as Breaking the Rules came on I thought - that was it, but I'm putting no money on it - it was possibly a track of an old album that I haven't got? Sorry. Sounds like someone has a recording of the night, so it should sort itself out. |

Reviewing the set lists posted here, it looks like the answer is 2-days earlier in Huddersfield! |

Seemed like more than 150 to me. That venue holds 650 according to their website, so I'd say the attendance cleared the 250 mark. Met FallFanDave outside. Did you get in Dave? There were a lot of back pockets with the fanzine protuding, so it looked like a good night for sales. I'm STILL waiting for my FHR! ![]() Great gig. Straightforward no-nonsense performance. Quite a bit of knob-twiddling, more than the previous two gigs by the sounds of it. A good gig for 'watching' the band if that makes sense. Plenty of room, no moshpit, suited the older fan .JCC was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. A good night. |

Apologies to anyone who went to Bar Cuprum (on my recommendation!). I turned up there about 7.30 and there was about 5 people, including me and a mate!
1 quick pint and I was off to Lloyd's No 1 which wasn't much better. Ended up in the Horse & Jockey, the one I was telling everyone to avoid! Met up with Good King Harry. His description that he would be dressed like a teacher was spot on....clocked you easily mate! Did anyone see that guy who was on before JCC? What the hell was that all about? Just saw this big screen with Freddie Mecury on it...very disturbing! |

Struggled to find Bar Caprum. Mind you the Wrexham one way system defeated me for a while - I knew where I wanted to be but couldn't get there in the car. Then it got to 8:00, so decided to join the queue for tickets. The plan was then, ticket in hand, to go and have a pint in The Horse and Jockey - where some lads who had passed the queue were heading, all good ideas, unfortunately they didn't have any tickets, so once you'd paid you were in. I did see the video act before JCC, on the running order sheet as SAFIY SNIPER. Disturbing is a good description. Didn't know if I was supposed to laugh, mind you the music played was an improvement on Queen. |

I'm sure Mountain Energei was in there somewhere as well and yes, I'm pretty sure they played Breaking the Rules. Best Fall gig I've seen in 20 years, though I must admit it's the first post-Hanley gig I've seen. Very powerful and together without a hint of slickness. And I must say that Eleni has become my favourite keyboard player ever after witnessing her technique at close quarters. A great line-up - let's hope they stay together for a while, unlikely though that is. |

Top Gig - only just recovered - my mate did the driving so took full advantage.
Band are on excellent form, tight as a nut - how good is that rhythem section? Highlights for me would have to be the Sparta intro, the majestic Blindness (I don't think I'll ever get tired of that riff), Aspen and Mountain Energy bounced along V nicely too. Took 3 fall virgins along with me who all had a great time - so much so that they actally bought copies of FHR. I was a bit worried that the 'challenging' nature of Marks voice might put them off but no they all got it. Result Good to meet up with the shiftworker and put a face to a name. Slightly embarressed to get ssshhhed by someone during JCC as we where talking too loudly - never did find out though: Hex or TNSG? I was a bit disappointed we did n't get an encore as I quite fancied belting out a bit of Big New Prince. Hope you get the chance in liverpool mate. |

Just wrote a huge reply and gone and right clicked it all away
Didnt know so many people off here went, went straight from work so no chance of a meet up beforehand, would of been nice to say how do's. Having a bit of a shit time at the moment so this gig and the new album could'nt have come at a better time. Thoughts? they were like a fucking steam train, I felt pummelled from the inside. Got some good pictures and videos on me phone, a goodun of mark giving Ben a hug after Ya wanner. Fair plays it sounds brutal as fuck live, they mean business when they play this. Fave tracks of the night: Blindness (bass turned up full whack, thought my bowells were loosening) contraflow, pacifying joint, you wanner (a new live fave). One last thing, standing so close you get to see how much the band actually have to improvise round him, extra choruses, prolonged tracks etc. Thats it for now. Jim |
