What did you think?

From:

Someone who got his old ma to record it for viewing in August upon return home

(sssshhh: anyone temporarily put it on the web?)

Haha!

Forgot it hadn't been broadcast yet.

Your precog probably can't be topped by the real performance. biggrin.gif

Would be good to see Cunty Plant eat gravel though...

Not a bad start - the show has just started here in Gib (we are an hour ahead) and Jools has just gone round the bands, Mark looks in good form, nice and relaxed.

This is going to be good.

All right, I've let this thread go on long enough.

As my avatar would suggest, I have more than a gentle fondness for Led Zeppelin.

Be that as it may... I have had conversations with Robert Plant on 2 occasions in my life, and I am here to tell you all that he is a top man.

Let me repeat that, in case you think I may have mis-typed. He is a top man.

The strong impression I got --- he is very garrulous and entertaining; an erudite polymath; genuinely funny, as opposed to just a millionaire bore who laughs at his own jokes; weirdly surreal in a sort of Milliganesque way; a font of cultural knowledge, both high- and lowbrow, everything from Lonnie Donegan to Armando Ianucci; several billion miles more clued-up than almost any of the usual rock-star plankton; and almost certainly intelligent enough to be a Fall fan.

His one flaw: too much over-sexualised testosterone machismo. It frankly makes an insecure chap feel a tad uncomfortable in his presence. sick.gif

I like led zepp, evan started a zep related topic some time back, I think.
It's all banter...
It's more I suppose about the image of led zepp then anything the band did musically (My opinion at least)
Give me When The Levee Breaks over some obscure Jazz shit any day of the week wink.gif

'Robert Plant ... is a top man'.
I agree. What I've heard of the new stuff sounds great too. Old icon, young band: sound familiar?

Programme hasn't started yet - video button on pause. Just been on BBC website where you are invited to vote for the best band on the programme. Being a bit presumptious I have voted for the fall. Half an our before the programme has been broadcast 96 people have jumped the gun (like me) and voted. 28% have gone for Robert Plant and 26% for The Fall.

The results of the Eurovision Song Contest (tomorrow's big event - eclipsing the FA Cup final) have shown evidence of political bias, geographical rivalry, miltary conflict and cultural differences. Postal Ballots have been rigged.

Votig before the songs have been sung or ballot booths opened? Unheard of! Or something.
