Thanks to DJAsh for pointing out earlier today that voting has now begun in the 2004 Festive Fifty.

Folks, I can think of nothing more fitting as a tribute from Fall fans to the great late John Peel than by voting the session version of Blindness to Number One in this year's Festive Fifty. Make sure you make it clear that you want :

The Fall - Blindness (Session version)

It would be fantastic if every member here would vote for Blindness as their number one to attempt to get it to the elusive number one spot - it does need a concerted effort by everyone (maybe even from those who don't necessarily think it is the best track of the year that Peel played...).

Please make Blindness your number one choice - you can enter your three nominations here. After you have entered your first choice, a new page for the second, then a further new page for the third will appear.

IMPORTANT
For your votes to be valid you must put in a valid e-mail address on the last page : an e-mail is sent to you immediately from john.peel@bbc.co.uk which you must reply to : without doing this your votes will not count.

Please also avoid the temptation of duplicate voting - chances are your IP address will be logged, so the old "duplicate e-mail address" gag will not work, and could result in all votes for Blindness being voided out, which would be very sad and totally avoidable - please vote responsibly !

The other songs you choose are entirely up to you - the rules in choosing the songs are that :

QUOTE
Every year we ask you to choose your Top 3 favourite tracks of the last 12 months. Your choices are then collated, a complicated points system applied, and out pops the legendary Festive Fifty! You can vote for any track that's been released this year and you can vote for specific session tracks as well.

For the record, here's what Peelie played by The Fall this year :

6/1/04, 15/1/04, 21/1/04
'We Are Mod Mock Goth (EP- We Wish You Protein Christmas)'
22/1/04

No worries : I cannot take all the credit, as it was DJAsh who spotted the polling was open - what did you go for, out of interest, REX ?

Blindness / Clasp Hands / What About Us?

As an American who couldn't really listen to Peel, I really didn't know what else (other artists) he played, so I stuck with the obvious.

Done. And it was easy, simply because Blindness was the best song recorded this year. By anybody.

Hope y'all with your block voting 'tribute' remember to vote for the astonishing Peel session version rather than the very good Interim version.
