Thanks to DJAsh for pointing out earlier today that voting has now begun in the 2004 Festive Fifty. Folks, I can think of nothing more fitting as a tribute from Fall fans to the great late John Peel than by voting the session version of Blindness to Number One in this year's Festive Fifty. Make sure you make it clear that you want : The Fall - Blindness (Session version) It would be fantastic if every member here would vote for Blindness as their number one to attempt to get it to the elusive number one spot - it does need a concerted effort by everyone (maybe even from those who don't necessarily think it is the best track of the year that Peel played...). Please make Blindness your number one choice - you can enter your three nominations here. After you have entered your first choice, a new page for the second, then a further new page for the third will appear. IMPORTANT For your votes to be valid you must put in a valid e-mail address on the last page : an e-mail is sent to you immediately from john.peel@bbc.co.uk which you must reply to : without doing this your votes will not count. Please also avoid the temptation of duplicate voting - chances are your IP address will be logged, so the old "duplicate e-mail address" gag will not work, and could result in all votes for Blindness being voided out, which would be very sad and totally avoidable - please vote responsibly ! The other songs you choose are entirely up to you - the rules in choosing the songs are that :
For the record, here's what Peelie played by The Fall this year : 6/1/04, 15/1/04, 21/1/04 'We Are Mod Mock Goth (EP- We Wish You Protein Christmas)' 22/1/04 'Lie Dream of a Casino Soul' (LP - 'Hip Priest And Kamerads) (Situation Two) 2/3/04 'Rebellious Jukebox (LP -Words Of Expectation: BBC Sessions)' (Sanctuary) 3/3/04 'Mother Sister' (LP - 'Words of Expectation') (Castle Music) 4/3/04 'Industrial Estate (LP - Words Of Expectation)' (Castle Music) 9/3/04 'Futures and Pasts (LP - "Words of Expectation")' (Castle Music) 10/3/04 'Put Away' (LP - 'Words of Expectation') (Castle Music) 6/4/04 'Hit The North (LP - 'Live in Cambridge 1988')' (Cog Sinister) 5/5/04, 1/9/04 'Portugal Tour (LP- The Real New Fall LP)' (Narnack) 12/5/04, 25/5/04 'Theme From Sparta FC (CD single)' (Action) 9/6/04 'Totally Wired' (LP: 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong)(Sanctuary) 17/6/04 Fiery Jack (LP- 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong) (Sanctuary) 24/6/04 "Kicker Conpiracy" (LP - '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong" (Santuary) this track was played twice 30/6/04 'The Man Whose Head Expanded' - (LP- 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong') - (Sanctuary) 7/7/04 'Lie Dream of a Casino Soul' - (LP- 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong) - (Sanctuary) 14/7/04 "Eat Y'Self Fitter" (LP - '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong') - (Sanctuary) 27/7/04 'I Wake Up In The City' (CD Single) - (Flitwick) 4/8/04 'There's A Ghost in my House' (50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong) - (Sanctuary) 10/8/04 'High Tension Line' (LP- 50,000 Fall Fan Can't Be Wrong) - (Sanctuary) 11/8/04 'Living too Late' (LP- 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong) - (Sanctuary) 12/8/04 repeated 7/10/04 Session 24 : Clasp Hands Blindness What About Us Wrong Place/I Can Hear The Grass Grow 19/8/04 "Edinburgh Man" (7") (Cog Sinister) 25/8/04 "Why are People Grudgeful" (LP - '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong') - (Sanctuary) 31/8/04 "Job Search" (12") - (VIP HML Dub) 2/9/04 'War' (EP - Behind The Counter) (Permanent) 7/9/04 and 14/10/04 "Powder Keg" (LP - '50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong') - (Sanctuary) Please post below when you have voted and what you went for too For me : 1. The Fall - Blindness (session version) 2. The Fall - Clasp Hands (session version) 3. The Fall - What About Us (session version) -------------------- |

Blindness / Clasp Hands / What About Us? As an American who couldn't really listen to Peel, I really didn't know what else (other artists) he played, so I stuck with the obvious. -------------------- Interested in the tenets of Rexatology? Done. And it was easy, simply because Blindness was the best song recorded this year. By anybody.

Good work Clayts. Of course, band websites all over the place are organising their own block voting strategies as we speak.....
