Nice to meet everyone in Dortmund

Schorndorf was marked by an amazing paintwerk. This was an instrumental intro. Schorndorf urr - Um, it's twinned with Bury. It's the countrysiet. It has no hotels.

Münster was great last night - Krammers was saying thats it´was possibly the best Fall gig ever - he's an old so and so, so he should know. One new song which is a Bo Diddley thing. The Fall played this as an intro behind a black curtain for about one minute, then it was ripped open, low and behold ITS THE FALL. Very dramatic. Playing the new number. Ohh they also played Janet V Johnny one of the best versions i#ve heard.

The support band are great btw Dr Chocolate or something - one of the bands on that compilation covers CD.

Off to Heidleburg Tonight. All is well with ze band, they are in great spirits. Playing really well, best for years.

Tis all from Germany

Josef

Is the new song a Bo Diddley cover or a song in the style of his music?

It was a Bo Diddley without Bo Diddley and two guitars.
Hey Bo Diddley! Just the tune! Very nice.

Is it possible they are playing "Hey Marc Riley"? (This seems very unlikely, I'll admit)

Was it an instrumental or complete with vocals?

hello,

i am from the netherlands, and i too think it was worth travelling to Münster,
Gleiss 22 is an very small club, i thought i was back in time
It must be 1979 or so, back in the punk area again.

The new sound from THE FALL is allright.
Last time i saw THE FALL was in Zaandam The Netherlands, that was in M. E. Smith's drinking period, since then the FALL sound is like old times.
Sometimes mysterious, danceable.

I recorded the show on tape but, but unfortunatily not everything there where some technival problems.
I wish i could see them ounce more on this tour, well maybe.
because finding an sleeping place is not easy.

greetingz from an Dutch fan

As i will be seeing them in Köln on saturday i sure hope they'll keep up their good shape ! But Mr. Josef don't you think that the tour plan trough Germany could have been a little more sorted instead of beeing relay messed up with all the traveling from north to south and back and forth ... Doesn't it bother the band !? By the way how do they travel ? Do they use a bus or rather a van ? How much equipment do they have ? Does Doc Shoko travel with them. How do you travel personaly? Where does everyone sleep? ...

Generaly does anyone know how a "The Fall" Tour is organized ?

Cheers and see everyone in Köln:

I’ll update with a detailed review, later. Need some more time for sorting the things out.

Diddley was just the riff - Hey Bo Diddley - without vocals.
A nice little intro for starting this great show. applaud.gif

Did Doc Schoko play his cover of "Life Just Bounces"? Does he have his violinist with him, or is it the Indoor Surfers backing him (just drums and guitars)?

It probably depends on the availability of venues...when they're otherwise booked.
MES travels, of course, in a Brand New Cadillac. The others walk behind him, carrying the instruments and booze.

I think that you just have to take dates as they come, rather than turn them down just because of location. Anyway you get to see alot of Germany which is nice. Luck of the draw sometimes. The tour is very professionally run, with a soundman, driver and tour manager. The venue also provided some people to help the band put the gear back in the van last night. Eleni's done a great job.

hi josef,
good to hear that you liked the muenster show. but i have to correct you. the fall travel without a soundman. i know this because i am the soundguy of the gleis 22 in muenster and mixed this wonderful band in our lovely club. i enjoyed every second. the fall also travel without backline so the clubs have to rent drums and amps that are hopefully in a good shape.
no offense here, josef, i just thought i correct some things in this discussion.
have a nice day and greetings from muenster. beer.gif

it's actually a cross between diceman and hail mark riley but with a very groovey bassline.

aye i know, it's just them and a driver. I was just making a compliment to the venues that organise the sound. All of them seem to sound great.

Considering the long distances the driver has the worst job !!! Do they stay in hotels and leave town next morning or rather hit the road right after the gigs? They should not forget to drink all the lecker Bier in Germany !

Try the Kölsch in Köln !!

The volinist is lovely. Especially nice when she walks upto the the amp for feedback. No Fall covers, just 96 tears for the encore (which is great), they all change for this one, I love it when she gives the bass a really good kicking. Quite apt i thought.

Keg,

Doc Schoko did indeed have a violinist together with back-up band, I didnt catch all of their set, but they didnt play Life Just Bounces while I was there.
Hope the Bull and Gate went well Saturday
