Well I came home early [daughter needs her sleep]...so half time result... no new songs in the first part of the set... dunno about later... the band looked very fresh...

usual stuff

sparta
pacifying
ride away
assume

etc

very good... dunno about the second half... maybe they all had a scrap and everyone was fired... but i wouldnt have thought so from the 1st half.. it was a good venue with all those balconies... a bit easier to sell the fanzines. a big turnout ... not sure how many hundred though.

met up with a few in the john bull , some I've met before, some not. All lovely.

P.S. fallfandave please do me a favour and remove that sarcastic "U2 rule" at the bottom of your page,it's as bad as saying "Bat Out Of Hell" is the best album ever released. banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif

Fucking excellent applaud.gif

Came on at about 10:20 finished about 11:45
3 encores

Superb Blindness as 1st encore
Boxoctosis was 2nd encore
3rd encore was sort of F'Oldin Money/ White Lightning

No new numbers banghead.gif

Most of songs off FHR plus Sparta, Mountain Energie, Touch Sensitive and Mr Pharmacist.

Seemed to do a double take on What About Us - 10-mins + long

Mark twiddling, sang one song off stage. Band started Blindness then Mark marched them off stage.

Mosh pit seemed rough - couple of minor fights - nothing serious.

Venue excellent - I was on balcony, with Vvillager and Claudia

Met many in pub - need sleep - more tomorrow when I remember rolleyes.gif

Who was there...Smudger, Fallfandave (issue 8 is ready - order now!!), Cadishead Acidhead, Claudia, Kurious Orange, Cupid's Bullet - I'm sure there were more, memory going

Beer £1:65 a pint in pub, in Club Nirvana only about £1:80 - very good

See you tomorrow

I made it 90 minutes total with about 5 mins for very short encore calls, although I didn't tape it:

no intro tape
Youwanna
Pacifying Joint
Ride Away
Clasp Hands (short)
What about us (at least 10 mins, sort of stopped twice and the nrestarted on MES instruction - I was up in the balcony and 3 skinheads hit the moshpit and lots of slamming from hereon until Aspen when there was a little punch-up and it quietened down for a bit)
Assume
Sparta
Touch Sensitive (very ragged but at least 5 mins)
Aspen (MES sang from off-stage)
M Energei
Grass Grow
Pharmacist
encore 1:
Blindness (12mins!)
encore 2:
Box
encore 3:
White Lightning (very ragged again)
Folding Money (instrumental)

Basically very splendid!

Thanks for that - looks a good set (only shame is it's the same songs they have been playing live for some 18 months (ish) now)

Noticed the croydon gig advertises a different set for each night - maybe they will just be playing 4 songs on each gig laugh.gif

a bloke gave me a spare ticket he had, and asked me to give it to anybody who didnt have a ticket.

i asked a few before i went in if they wanted it. FOR FREE! all they had to do was take it off me for christ sakes.

not one person wanted it... even though i said it was a free ticket.

laugh.gif how mad is that ?

Make no mistake, this was EXCELLENT stuff, same set or not....let's face it, unless you go and see them EVERY show, the songs are hardly golden oldies !

Sounds like most of us here who went were on the balcony !... a good decision judging by the antics in front of the stage...each to his own I suppose.

Longest show I remember for ages....totally vindicated my last minute decision to drag myself off the sofa and away from the gripping Man Utd match sleeping.gif sleeping.gif sleeping.gif and spend the last £20 in my wallet on a ticket.

Set list above looks accurate, although I haven't even listened to it again yet (end of concert-car-home-bed-work....)

Great gig, great venue. I stayed downstairs and could get a good view of MES messing with the amps and keyboards no matter where I stood due the raised nature of the bar area. Did fallfandave sell his fanzines inside? didn't see him downstairs. Got in for the support slots, not impressed by the Suzukis although a mate tells me thay are usually better that they were last night. Forget name of second band but they were really good, faster than the suzukis and a lead singer who looked like he was enjoying himself. The Falls set was excellent, you always know its been good when an hour and a half flies by. Particularly enjoyed MES trying to kick one of the roadies off stage as he was trying to fix a mike stand.

This seems encouraging - now that's what I call a reasonable time on stage; well, it's more than reasonable. I wonder how long it will last?

Just transfered the mini discs over and the set list was as thebigbopper posted above.

That was the best fall gig I have been to in a long time. MES was in a great mood even shaking the soundmans hand at the end.

Well done to the bouncers who kicked out the twat who was fighting and the bloke near me who kept chucking full pint pots at the stage.
