Do you have any books about (any type of) music that you no longer want?
Have Fall and B. Dylan list, plus some live/rare Smiths, Elvis and Neil Young CDs and DVDs by quite a few artists for exchanging if you're interested.
Send me a PM.
TheBigBopper - July 14, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
I've got the Neil Young one - happy to do you a cdr in exchange for something.

Thanks. Already got it though. Good, isn't it?
altfish - September 14, 2005 02:57 PM (GMT)
Sorry, "when you said anything by FS", I thought you meant you hadn't got anything!
Yes, I love it. Could have done without the Man City shirt on the cover though!
Mind you, I live in Timperley, so not to love it would be a treasonable offence.
Last week, I met someone who now works with Chris (aka FS) and he's going to ask him to sign the album.

Could he also ask:
1. What's he up to these days?
2. Will the albums ever be reissued?

Are there any good David Bowie acoustic outtakes or concerts from the 1971–75 era? I'm especially keen to hear an acoustic (or decent electric) version of Starman if one exists. It's for my daughter who, aged three and a half, has become a devoted D.B. fan and this is her favourite song!* In fact, any good version will do.
* She prefers the BBC Sessions take over the Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust version.

It's not going to help you much but for those who are interested there's a good site

Does anyone have any of Peel's Radio 1 shows archived on CD that they'd be willing to trade? Ideally full shows, with all the talking and all the records. No 'Home Truths' thanks.
I have Fall and lots of non-Fall live stuff (CD and DVD) to offer in return.
Please e-mail me.

This is a good one:
The Peel Tapes.
Aramchek - September 27, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
When I lived in London in 81/92 it was a passion, nah obsession to tape his show's. I have a very big box of cassettes that one day I plan to convert to cd. I think the score is 3 down 300 (give or take) to go.
However I will have a look see & maybe there is some joy there. Might be time as I am just starting to read the Peel biog, yeah I'm a little slow on these things
Davey B - September 27, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
I used to just press record when something that caught my fancy came on. Wish I'd recorded lots of full shows now. :(
Stephen - September 30, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
I may be able to dig out a couple of old Peel tapes. Would anyone be interested in transferring them to CD?

Would the cds of the tapes have to be indexed or would you be happy if they were just transferred "as is"? I could do it via a cd recorder & cassette deck. You can now buy cassette decks which convert tape to mp3,my mate has one.How many tapes are you talking?

"PirateMike" has started uploading 17 DVD's worth (80 gigs!) of John Peel stuff on the piratebay. The first disc is at
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3859197/John_P...ilation_1_of_17DVD 1 = Festive 50s, mainly 1992-2004.
Aramchek - October 30, 2007 11:21 AM (GMT)
So for those awaiting an update sorry I got distracted. Yes I have been through the 2 milk crates of cassettes. God I was busy when i was younger. Hells bells I will need to live to 100 if i am going to convert everything.
Sorry there are no Peel cassettes amongst them. I suspect they got tossed when Strange Fruit started releasing those 12" EP's and I foolishly thought it was only about the music.
However small peice of good news for me - discovered a cassette I bought in Camden Market in March 91 of The Fall live at Strathclyde Uni 7.12.90. Not bad at all. :D

Does anyone have any interesting Zappa items they'd like to trade for Fall/Dylan stuff?
Divvey - April 25, 2008 09:46 AM (GMT)
Blimey, Stephen, as if an interest in some of the most prolific artists EVER (Fall, Dylan, Young) you want to add Frankie.
How do you do it??
