Title: Karl Burns
Description: (merged)
Carrie Bagg-Mann - June 10, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
I keep wondering periodically....whatever happened to Karl Burns? I imaging him as some permanent motorbike courier type. I mean, I should imagine he's not become a primrary school teacher, or something.
Also, while watching the telly t'other night, I encountered one of the best Karl Burns lookalikes EVER.......
.....Gregory Hines!!!!!

If anybody knows what hair salon etc he's working at , we'd like to do an interview with Karl :)

Jesus :o The very thought of it.
But he would be known as Mr. Burns.
Imagine MES as a teacher :o

It was called "Karl Burns is my uncle". Really.
clayts - June 10, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I remember it now - still couldn't bloomin' well find it though. Mind you I didn't have me bottle-glass specs on at the time.
My other job is a referee, you know (he lied unconvincingly)

my local hmv store manager claims to know KB, i'll ask him tomorrow what karl's up to when i'm ordering my pbl & rtl.
anonyarena - June 13, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)
Karl Burns is too talented a drummer to let his talent waste away. I hope he has continued and will continue to make music.

Same could be said about Scanlon, though.
pomfob - June 14, 2005 09:15 AM (GMT)
I was going to make some sarky comment along the lines of 'I never knew Craig Scanlon was a drummer as well', but thought better of it.
It's a bit perplexing, isn't it, that most ex-members of the Fall just drop off the radar - even the ones that did go on to make more music don't exactly set the world alight, do they? Scanlon's just the most obvious loss to music.

Harry Lime - June 14, 2005 09:54 AM (GMT)
I probably shouldn't tell you this, but I once saw a royalty cheque for him.
clayts - June 14, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
That's tuppence, Burnsy
gaffer - June 14, 2005 10:13 AM (GMT)
On the subject of Scanlon a friend of mine went on a computer course around late 96 that he was on, whilst another now claims to work with him at the local council in the housing benefits department, he is a Fall fan, so knows what hes talking about and he says hes looking quite different these days as has gone bald.
Whatever Burns is up to i bet he is still drumming in some capacity, interestingly i was talking to Karl in the Hacienda just after Scanlon had left and asked him the reason for his departure. Karl, who was very amicable and crashed me his last cig, told me that he Mark had kept going around to Craigs, but he haid said that he had lost interest in playing guitar and didnt want to know.
chachacha - June 15, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
if scanlon's in housing in manc and so is mr eccles-a little trip down the corridor and poke the camera over his cubicle
simpo - November 9, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)

DJAsh - November 9, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
Having a pint with The Waterfoot Dandy ?
Harry Lime - November 9, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
I saw one of his royalty cheques once.
DJAsh - November 9, 2005 11:50 PM (GMT)

Buying sausages in Safeways. 50p ones, bargain bin, near sell-by date. Beat a Fall forumite to them with a 'those are my sausages' and did an about turn into the distance with nary a word spoke afterwards.
That story still has me in fits of giggles.
LIBERTINO - November 10, 2005 07:58 PM (GMT)
What an awesome sticksman Burnsy is.
Shame he is no longer playing in a band.
A raw talent like KB should be involved in music, not just out there somewhere bumming around.

Yeah, but he was only a drummer, and he's served his purpose ... they're ten a penny, right? ;)
pure1 - November 10, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
Heard a story that KB had an audition a few years ago for Manchester band THE REEGS [Dave Fielding and Reg Smithies ex-Chameleons band] but that KB downed sticks and left because The Reegs "weren't professional enough"...not sure how true that is.

Seriously, if anyone does have any leads or info about Karl Burns, please do let Simpo or myself know. I can confirm that he's not a stalker, debt collector or mafia hitman....

I don't think he's the type to be hanging around the bogs at Vicky station!?
Vvillager - November 12, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
I used to think that KB was one of the best things about The Fall when he was in it. I just hope that he didn't get back on the ol' white train again after his fallout with MES.
Martin - November 12, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
I just think people should leave him alone. It seems he doesn't want to be found and who are we to deny him this wish?
