Title: Aside from you . . .
Description: Best taste in music

Cleanville Tziabatz - February 5, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
No names required to be mentioned. I voted "outside."

My chum Dave......who likes the Fall but is not a fanatic like us lot.....

Sadly (weep, weep, sniff), I have no friends in real life who are Fall fans and none that have extraordinary taste in music (although a couple of my friends have great taste in books). There are three people on here whose tastes are close enough to mine that I've begun to pay close attention to their suggestions, but really everyone on here has good taste, so those three aren't the only ones I steal ideas from. My vote is for "someone" on here, but in reality that "someone" is a combination of R Totale, gorillabat and worthless recluse, with a smidgeon of everyone else thrown in.

John Peel.

Gorillabat certainly has impeccable taste :)

Bloke from a local record shop who also DJs before gigs. He always has something class on in the record shop and puts some great stuff on before gigs. He works in Steel Wheels in Newcastle but used to work (maybe still does) in RPM. Canny lad - don't know his name but  cheers mate.

MES also has a great taste in music.

I am honored to be mentioned. Twice, no less. Wish my family agreed with you.

Most of the people I am frenz with have great taste, but there are many, many people here with very similar tastes to mine. And of course I think everyone here has at least some quatifiable taste as we have The Fall in common.

I don't socialize much anymore so I get most of my current music/info right here. It's a very hip group. Even those who aren't "hip" as far as new music are still hip in their lack of concern for being "hip."

ghostly neutrino, Generalist, Andy M, REX, Worthless Recluse, R.Totale, requiredfield, jean-baptiste, scratch, gaz, etc. I should have followed the no names rule because I know I am leaving ppl out, but what the hell.

Yeah, dude, I was kinda hurt.

gorillabat - February 6, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
Oh shit, CT! BAD oversight on my part! Damn... :ohdear:

Similar to my list with G/Bat added of course. However, there's just no way I'd include that dick requiredfield!

I ticked the 'tie' option as I get a lot of good leads from Jazzcorner Speakeasy and have been visiting there and the old board for about 5 years now.

I may never have discovered Dead C if I hadn't joined up here and for that I'm forever grateful!

I'll take Abba over most other commercial music any day.

I can honestly say that this forum has provided me with the opportunity to chat about shared musical interests (and learn about new ones) for the first time since I left university, about 20 years ago.

Refreshing to say the least.

If I was ever to have my record collection stolen, I reckon I could survive if I nicked The Shrander's record collection for myself...

The rest of you like miserable goth shite too much! ;)

Naw, seriously- this is the best place on the internet to talk about music...

clayts - February 7, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
My mate Matt at work - star man.

Only bloke I know outside of this forum who I can speak to daily about the band at work (if I was there, which I'm not at the moment...back soon, honest ;))

Not me. I like the Corrs.

One of the things that I miss since growing old and domesticated is going round to mate's homes, and having them round to mine, to listen to their music. Most of the music that I got into was through knowing people that played stuff that I picked up on.

Sadly, this does not happen too much now. I still have a couple of good mates who are into music in a bigger way than me, but not overly into the specific bands that I am into.

My criteria for someone with good taste must at least be able to discuss The Fall and Can, then I would say that there are people on this Forum have better taste than people that I know 'in real life'.

I know one guy, in Portland, who's got a lot more reggae than me, so I'll give him the nod for that.

Not trying to be overly diplomatic, but just about damn near everybody on this board has great taste as well.
