well the unutterable is one of me top 5 fall albums...i dont care who played on it....it just sounds fantastic.....but it may be all down to production...i dunno ...i go with marc riley's theory..if it sounds good it is good...no matter what music it is... [with slight reservation, i still hate all rap n all opera n all reggae] but that's just me

Shanley and Scanlon were always my most admired among all the Fall lads'n'lasses, with Scanlon getting the nod these days 'cos he's had the good sense to keep away from music since leaving the band - is he still at Salford DSS?

Simon Wolstencroft, because he wrote Free Range, He Pep and Cheetham Hill. Oh, and Julia Nagle, not a popular choice but definitely the best thing to happen to The Fall in the late-90s. Apart from the title track on Levitate.

Let's see... most of The Unutterable, that tremendous He Pep remix Oxymoron. The first three tracks off Levitate are really creative, too.

Well, she co-wrote all of the songs. I think - I mean, who's to say the sleeves are totally accurate when it comes to songwriting credits?

Also, I put down some of the badness of AYAMW to the lack of Nagle synthy-presence.

Elanor is probably the most interesting person to enter the band, after Mark that is. It was certainly a shock to learn she was his wife!

I think she's interesting because of the way she is on stage. That weird way she stares into the audience, and hoe she doesn't really seem to be paying attention to what she's doing. But maybe she's just scared. Who was the other woman they apparently had on keyboards around about the same time Poulou showed up?

Ed Blaney was a fucking wanker. That 'I live in L.A.' bit on Ibis-Afro live is so bloody annoying. I'm so glad he got the boot.

Doc Shanley's bass playing is creative as Mark's singing. Brix(even though her name is damnably 80's) is second even though everybodyk hates her you know she can write some fucking killer songs(I actually argued with a sexist freind of mine who claimed Mark wrote all the music on the songs credited to Brix).

Least favorite: Even though I like him somewhat I gotta say Ben. Sometimes he gets that blueshammer guitar thing going which bugs me

They are the best bassist/drummer The Fall have ever had, they have yet to be replaced in many respects.
In fact I have never heard a better combination in ANY other band.
