I've been to Maria am Ostbahnhof , the gig wasn't superb but o.k. In the beginning Mark seemed to be pissed a bit, always loosing and searching his microphone.
They mostly played material from " Country on the click " . Blindness was great, strange version of " Wrong place, Right time " which was great too anyway.
The show started at 3.00 clock in the morning, I wasn't really fit at that time.

fallchase - September 17, 2004 02:08 PM (GMT)
damn i have never heard of a gig playing at 3:00 am .

Not much changes in Fall gigland, then. Can't anyone keep him locked up the day of the concert? Why doesn't Eleni spend the day seducing him in the hotel room?

If he doesn't want to do it , I'll gladly offer my services, and even sing on stage the same night.

I wasn’t there but there is a review on the web:
first German part,
later an overworked SYSTRAN translation.

6 Jahre Maria: The Fall, Peaches, NMFarner / 03.09.2004, Berlin, Maria am Ostbahnhof

Geburtstagsparty im Nebel der Polytoxikomanie

Text: Mikel Plett

6 years Maria: The Fall, Peaches, NMFarner/03.09.2004, Berlin, Maria
am Ostbahnhof

Birthday party in the fog of the POLYTOXIKOMANIE

Berlin’s club "Maria am Ostbahnhof" celebrates its sixth birthday, and everybody goes there. Even in time! At 11 pm the queue was long enough to end on the end of the road already. But what as strange phenomenon began, soon changed to lack of understanding to annoyance, because up to the appearance the first band it should take still almost two hours. A challenge at condition and strength of will, because who does not laediert from a hard week the physical exhaustion close was, the risk, which appearances of
NMFarner, Peaches and The Fall only by the close ran, to experience
heavy fog of the POLYTOXKOMANIE. Therefore it may not surprise, if in
this place the report over the world largest NUSCHLER of music’s history
precipitates somewhat briefly including its young band.

Nevertheless scarcely it was three o'clock in the morning when
Mr. Smith as remainder of the current line-up of The Fall went on the stage. The attractive company of the correspondent had already
fallen asleep to DATO (and not as only) on the cosy leather sofas. The
remaining public in sold out Maria thanked however with FRENETISCHEM
applause. Back and forth cleverly between joy and seizingness the
tension of the visitors was remarkable. However the tension already
yielded with the first song, because Mark E. Smith’s well-known SCHAUERLICHEN face printout surprised old and new fans with a AGILITÄT of which anybody never thought that he might be able. Perhaps it was also because of the current musicians of The Fall, which than their front man is on the average 20 years younger (or 40 years younger, than he looks), but Maria rocked without any problem. Unanswered remains the question whether the low of the last years had been passed. Let’s hope for that. Only the request remains to go to one of the concerts in October. It is worthwhile itself, thus or so.

Well two hours more soon it was Peaches, …
art blood in the public and left without further comment the stage.

And then there still NMFarner, …
in October as support of the asterisks.

Not to be forgotten also the numerous DJ's is in this place: Gudrun
Gut, …
and DJ Lobotomy, who by the way announced the appearance of The Fall with a MEHRMINÜTIGEN loop of Marks E. Smith’s voice. …

The correspondent however was there already on the way home, confused
and overtires, supporting the sleepy however always charming company and processing the collected impressions of the evening . Whoever in 20
years will be the age-old rock legend , if it strikes itself in such a
way like Mr. Smith did, it turns not so bad.
