Container Drivers (even the wife will put up with that)
Sparta F.C.
Blindness (from the new session)

It's the new thing! or Free range.

Oh, LP's too? Lay of the land or Poteinprotection.

I second Sparta FC, esp. the new version. Catchy as hell, great rockin' tune, etc.

For the individual less into "alternative" music, I'd recommend Victoria. Great Kinks song given the MES treatment that makes all his quirks seem palatable and endearing. It's a good "gateway" song.

I've been trying to convert people for years with "New Face in Hell" and "Winter". You can see them losing interest quite quickly. I try them with "Bill is Dead" after a bit of Country (and western), and that gets them every time.

I'd go for 'Slates, Slags etc.' for that groovylicious Stooges-esque riff. Of course, this assumes I wouldn't be wanting to sell The Fall to my mother...

Hit the North is my choice, is a catchy catchy song.
Then a little Shoulder Pads.
My girl digs Sparta though (after 4 years hating The Fall)

:devil2: new face in hell :devil2: everytime.
the bassed up peel version.

it's my favourite song ever.

Paint Work, Edinburgh Man or Slates, Slags etc., depending on the non-believer. Oh, or Hit the North. I have tried New Face in Hell on two occasions, but it didnīt work, they found it too long (!). It is obviously at least five minutes too short.

Cab it Up! won a bunch of converts at the college radio station I used to work for, so I guess I'd stick with that.

Rabbit Punch from the hard to get flexi disc with Our Daughters Wedding and Nash the Slash.

Only ever accidentally converted one person, Gut of the Quantifier did it. The gentleman is now a fully fledged fall freak, well in his parlance fouru, got a bit upset about the slit eyed neighbour line in New Face in Hell being a Japanese gent however, so that one probably would not have won him over had it been his first lick of the fall stick.

IAMTHEPUCK - August 18, 2004 07:02 AM (GMT)
A friend partially/almost ruined GUT OF THE QUANTIFIER for me when he mentioned another song it might resemble like (Sorry: Would I Lie To You by the Eurythmics..I think that's right)..doesn't matter which came first...

It's still pretty smokin' though (that "GUT")...even still.

And yes, NEW FACE IN HELL is a perfect Fall intro in particular the Peel version. It's so good it's out of control.

SLATES is another good one I'd say. And a dash or two of the live NEIGHBORHOOD OF INFINITY and they're all set to enter into THE MIGHTY FALL STEW. And the Hundreds of good Fall Ingredients therin. THOSE POOR FUGGIN' BASTIDS. May Ol' Totale have Mercy on their souls.

(i.e.: If they don't dig that shite then who needs'm?)

New Face In Hell is one of my faves, but across the board, I think if you play 2X4 for someone and they don't get into it, there is little hope.

L.A. funnily enough.. Timeless electronica. Or Sparta FC. Or Blindness..
