 :D
Following some discussion on this thread -
Aldershot
http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/thefall/...pic=27035&st=50a poll has been suggested, so I thought why not?
Which way do you like to see your Fall members burn :devil2: , with a hot steel mic stand to grab onto, or not?
Pic 1. With the smoking mic stand

Pic 2. Pete smouldering in flames, without the hot mic stand to grab onto

someone's clearly taking their time to tell us about the 'variation' they had in mind (I was almost hoping for amateurish, or even better, semi-pro photoshopping of it, ah well).

1 - the mike stand contextualizes Peter in a way I like and so should you.

2. The mic stand detracts from the horror of the burning Greenway.

How are those effects achieved?
Slow shutter speed?
Do digital cameras even have shutters?

Voted 2 if it matters.
Bizarre, eerie shots them, Stranger. The dark "tongues of flame" effect on Pete's head put me in mind of Simon Price.
The prat was at the Concorde gig. :finger:
Don't know how you got the effect but it works. :applaud:

The second one reminds me of Bacon's Innocent:

No mic stand in sight ;)

Might be better if you shrink them a bit so we can see the full composition of each...

He was stood just behind me. Do you think he'll still have the daft haircut when he's a pensioner?

I guess so.
I'm clueless about cameras, I just point and shoot, but I've learnt to get good results here and there.
As for these, no fancy effects (bar a little accentuating of the image with Picassa - you just select controls to 'lighten' and add shadow etc)...all the blurry / weird shots on the Aldershot threat were the result of motion - ie my hand not being steady enough (it's only a little camera, god knows what I achieve when I get an "SLR" next :o , when I can afford one cheap-ish on Ebay), or MES / the band moving.
I did wonder about shouting to MES to "stand still", but wasn't sure my request would be taken seriously.
If the term is "shutter speed" for digital cameras, I guess it would have been slower as I rarely use flash...I don't like that much as it gives a washed out / whitened out look to people, and if you try to correct it, you turn them yellow, giving them jaundice.

He's become left handed, or ambidextrous, maybe the fire helped there.

I think its just slow shutter speeds and camera movement. You can do the same with film cameras but the effects seem much more pronounced on digital. One of the things that really bugs me with digital cameras is the way they automatically set all the exposure functions (shutter speed, aperture etc) and the focus. I set everything to manual....
personally i suspect Stranger of being more proactive about moving his camera around in order to generate interesting results than he suggests....(the big show off).

No, I really am that clumsy.
Those were the "highlights" of 300 pics. :ohdear:
