Title: Best second last song on a Fall album
Description: Prove Robert Forster wrong!
elvischomsky - April 1, 2010 09:28 AM (GMT)
According to Robert Forster's 10 Rules of Rock & Roll; "The second last song on every album is the weakest."
Which two penultimate Fall album tracks disprove his theory most convincingly?
Buy Kurious! - April 1, 2010 09:34 AM (GMT)
I've never heard "Tempo Hose". Is it any good?
Snowy - April 1, 2010 09:36 AM (GMT)
Could be a celebrity like M. Pike.....................
Easily the best by a country mile

I must say, using the Fall to disprove rules that apply to the vast majority of Rock and Roll bands/albums shows a distinct lack of understanding of what makes The Fall so special. -_-

Of those songs: Slates, Slags etc (obviously) but I don't consider that an album so quite clearly there can only be one winner: (drum roll) ........... Devolute.

Has this elvischomsky ever actually heard a Fall record?

Gramme Friday is a great choice. :)

:cry2: Just too difficult to choose.
....would make a great compilation though.
Mere Pseud. - April 2, 2010 11:44 AM (GMT)
As much as I truly rate Mr. Forster in terms of The Fall he is definitely wrong. In fact on the first 10 albums I consider the penultimate songs to be among the absolute best.
The often overlooked Iceland and Craigness for me.
delmore - April 2, 2010 12:17 PM (GMT)
I didn't think Iceland would come in 1st. It's such an understated piece I thought it would be easily ignored.
Harold_P - April 2, 2010 12:38 PM (GMT)
Bloody vinyl polls.
Clear winner is Spectre vs. Rector B)
Zoot Horn Polo - April 2, 2010 05:51 PM (GMT)
Let's stop this madness.
Craigness and Proteinprotection are the obvious winners.
Völlïg Tötäll - April 3, 2010 12:47 AM (GMT)
Spectre, but only because i consider Gramme Friday as an intro to the N.W.R.A.
But then again, i'm not a quantum physics researcher.
Exopsychicton - April 3, 2010 01:17 AM (GMT)
It's not letting me vote.
Which is a good thing. This is a monumental list.
For the record, Devolute and Senior Twilight!
But only because so many will pick Tempo House.
petehine - April 3, 2010 01:45 AM (GMT)
To prove or disprove Foster, aren't we supposed to compare the song to the rest of the album it's on, instead of comparing second last songs among themselves?
Anyway, in my view the rule is most emphatically disproven by Spectre and Tempo House.
It's funny that Breaking the rules is one of few that follows the rule.
worthless recluse - April 3, 2010 04:12 AM (GMT)
I voted Tempo "Hose". If only EC had managed to refrain from thinking about cock for the duration of setting this pole. I mean poll!
Mark E Smith Made Me Cry - April 3, 2010 06:22 PM (GMT)
Well, Riddler! But Spectre, Dweller, Puritan, Suzuki...and so many more.
The Fall is very very
VERY
good!
MES deserves Rock and Roll.
