Title: Hitpotential

xanax - August 6, 2004 06:56 PM (GMT)
Which Fall-song has the greatest summerhitpotential? Is it "Hit the North", "Bill is Dead" or "Hip priest"?

otherdave - August 6, 2004 07:17 PM (GMT)
Definitely Hit the North. I think it would be nice to have different versions of this rarely-performed '80s obscurity.

Hit the North of course, great song.

xanax - August 6, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
"Hit the North" it is then...in a better world it should have sold a billion copies...Mark E. Smith would be bigger than Michael Jackson with or without glove... and the Fall would be doing Zooropa-tours....(but then Mark maybe would have slit his throat with a carrot...?) B)

he probably would of drunk himself to death first.

Its "Cruiser's Creek." Someday that song will be used in a Hollywood movie (more prominently than Hip Priest ever was) and will shoot straight to number 1 in the charts in US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Israel at least. You heard it here first.

I always thought they should have released "Hilary" as a single. It definitely could have benefited from a movie tie-in, something sort of college-oriented at the time with a hit soundtrack, like Threesome or Reality Bites.

If there was any justice, there are a half dozen tracks from TRNFLP alone that should be summer megahits this year.

Other catchy as hell tunes, (most radio-friendly, not necessarily catchiest):

C.R.E.E.P.
Spoilt Victorian Child
Ladybird (Green Grass)
So What About It?
Two Librans
Touch Sensitive
Shoulder Pads
M5

"CREEP" should have been a hit in '84. "Cruiser's Creek" was out of its time in the way that "Roadrunner" or "Waiting For My Man" were.

Unlike, the songs on PBL, this is one Fall song I always wished they would remix.

"Twister" has to be a summer great... days out in the countryside... trains crammed with cretins... aaah, you can almost smell the kebabs...

Abe Simpson here: b/c of their slick production these Leckie 12''ers were a real shock when they came out. 'Pat' was the B side to CREEP. Don't mind it now, but sure, why not remix.

i think pat trip dispenser would be a rather interesting remix.

‘Ed’s Babe’ – surely one of the Fall’s most poptastic moments…every home should be legally obliged to posses a copy of this record.

Bloody Hell! I can see it too! I'll never listen to it the same way again! Are some of them in nurses' uniforms while others are heavily bandaged and pointing to various limbs? Or is that Legs & Co?
