1. Sioux?

Buy Kurious! - January 8, 2010 03:09 PM (GMT)
2. O' Sullivan.
3. Jesse.
4. A bicycle.
5. The guitarist's a different'un. That's what *I* notice the most, anyway; I don't know what YOU notice the most and can't be expected to.

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:12 PM (GMT)
#5 - Scottie Moore played on the early RCA records and his Hound Dog solo is still cited as great rockabilly
I would say having a drummer always on all songs; the early Sun records did not have a drummer

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:15 PM (GMT)
#2 - El's mother was originally a Smith

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:16 PM (GMT)
#1 - Most Americans if they have American Indian blood in them say Cherokee so that's my first guess - Cherokee

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:19 PM (GMT)
Jesse was "born" first - delivered would be more correct

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:22 PM (GMT)
The part of the USA where the Smith and Presleys came from used to be the home of the Creek and Choctaw Indians so even if they, the Presleys, say Cherokee, it may well be Creek or Choctaw

delmore - January 8, 2010 03:47 PM (GMT)
Only a guess - for his 10th birday he wanted a pink silk shirt.

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:52 PM (GMT)
Happy Birthday Elvis - you're not forgotten!

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 03:54 PM (GMT)
#1 - Biblical Tribe: Levite they seem to be the most common and oft cited

4. a gun.

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 04:48 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure it was a bike but his mother was afraid he'd get run over. He got the bicycle within a year or so anyway if my memory isn't failing me

5. Wasn't it an upright bass on the Sun records and an electric one on the RCA recordings?

Starsky-Tandoori - January 8, 2010 08:44 PM (GMT)

Close. But a bit hopeless.
Sorry.

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 09:05 PM (GMT)
5 - for RCA, a piano was added - Floyd Cramer, and a 2nd guitarist behind Scotty; and, the recording studio was a large high domed room like Bill Haley used in New York for Decca to get a natural echo to replace(augment) the slapback

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 09:21 PM (GMT)
Please note that I've tried to format my responses to more properly address the questions

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 10:53 PM (GMT)
I hate to disagree but I find it an excellent quiz with a mixture of straightforward and "trick" questions....I know Elvis wanted a bike for his birthday....I guess it wasn't his 10th....nice question
Did you know Elvis could claim to be Jewish? I didn't....educational

bravo Elvischomsky

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 10:54 PM (GMT)
As a (regrettably) famous American said: "Bring 'em on" and I am prepared to get them wrong too

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 11:00 PM (GMT)
No I had not realized that: Thank you and I will keep that in mind for future reference....Elvis Presley was pretty good you know....Sometimes I understate things for the effect :)

Elvis was part Jewish.
He asked for a rifle - the bike fiction was made up by Parker. :)

elvischomsky - January 8, 2010 11:33 PM (GMT)
6. What was Elvis's first single?
7. Who - technically - didn't sing on the Million Dollar Quartet?
8. Which English actor presented 'The Ed Sullivan Show' on Elvis's infamous - waist-up - third appearance?
9. What did Elvis buy his mum when he earned his first million?
10. Why - technically - does Otis Blackwell get quite angry?

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 11:37 PM (GMT)
6 - That's All Right Mama

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 11:39 PM (GMT)
7 - Carl Perkins

if this is sort of trick involing "technical" then the answer would be Johnny Cash who "technically" could not sing  as a matter of fact, i don't think he sang much at all that day in 1956...almost a year to the day Blue Suede Shoes was recorded

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 11:39 PM (GMT)
9 = a house

duckpin236 - January 8, 2010 11:40 PM (GMT)
10 - Elvis got a part writer's credit on one of Blackwell's songs....Don't Be Cruel I think
