Title: Too many Fall songs!
Description: Help!

mybloodyvalentine - August 5, 2004 06:38 AM (GMT)
Someboby has to produce a huge excel spreadsheet with all Fal songs and the album/single/E.P they are included in. But I mean ALL the songs (including deifferent versions).
I tried but I couldn't :(

fallchase - August 5, 2004 07:18 AM (GMT)
I am sure it will happen eventually I wouldnt be surprised.

fallfandave - August 5, 2004 07:20 AM (GMT)

I'm working on it – but it may take years.

otherdave - August 5, 2004 07:29 AM (GMT)
I think someone worked out that there were 4-500... so we can have 1/2 each, or 3/4 allowing for multiple identities... or one if we exclude the people who never posted...

* Er... corrected for any ratio I mention before 8.30 having to be divided by four...

fallfandave - August 5, 2004 07:30 AM (GMT)
is this fanzine still gonna happen stephen?

fallchase - August 5, 2004 07:33 AM (GMT)
this would be most excellent if it did happen.

Er, someone else was doing that weren't they?

My thing is a versionography of every version of every track by The Fall with times and sources and what-not. But I may die of old age before completing it.

fallchase - August 5, 2004 07:47 AM (GMT)
I would say you would get it done by 65 most likely how old are you now? 26-33 range?

First I've heard of it!

But would be very happy to get involved if someone wants to get in touch...

otherdave - August 5, 2004 08:13 AM (GMT)
Is it one of them virtual fanzines, then? We could take turns not doing it. Can I have the Xmas bumper non-issue?

There was discussion of doing a book from the forum – but the level of interest was pretty low. Then someone else starting gathering material for a fanzine. Then... quiet.

Maybe a case of:

Book of board
Bored of book!

generalist - August 5, 2004 08:31 AM (GMT)
i think a book is a good idea.... book by & for fall fans.... rambling, chaotic & obsessively detailed at the same time.

i keep banging on about this - but i really enjoyed the catalyst thread where ppl talked about what got them into the fall in the first place... stories were gr8 & surprisingly moving.... (one for the index stephen? - will try & track URL down - its a while back...) an edited version of this would make a gr8 bit of a book (IMHO)

hope the fanzine thing is still a go-er tho as well....

the book idea was mine [well there maybe was a later idea for a book too]...that was ages ago...and nobody seemed interested to contribute....the idea for that was that every member wrote a page of the book .....and it all got put together in a book.....simple as that.

but the fanzine was gonna be called 'clear off!' ...i do recall this

generalist - August 5, 2004 08:37 AM (GMT)
so fall fans.....

ARE U INTERESTED?????

Sounds like a good idea – who writes about what though?

R. Totale - August 5, 2004 09:09 AM (GMT)
I'd happily contribute a page. I must write a side of A4 a day on this board anyway.

The A-Z list of Fall songs in the lyrics parade would be a good , though incomplete, starting point for someone doing this.

Conway - August 5, 2004 09:49 AM (GMT)
I started doing an A-Z songfinder page for the website, listing every version of every song with composer details, lyric & discography links, live version comments. Got about half way through the B's before deciding it was just too hard and would take too long. I think I showed Stefan & Stephen a draft version of it.

My hunch is someone already has done this but is too embarassed to admit and will say they had been inspired by this thread and hey presto and no I'm not talking about myself

gorillabat - August 5, 2004 02:11 PM (GMT)
Whenever I attempt to make a compilation of the Fall, or help myself with their discog. in general, I tend to break their recordings into "eras" thusly:

Era One: "Witch Trails" through "Room to Live"
Era Two: "Perverted By Language" through "Seminal Live"
Era Three: "Extricate" through "Middle Class Revolt"
Era Four: "Cerebral Caustic" through to the present.

Cerebral Caustic and Light User are odd propositions. Haven't heard Cerebral yet, but since these two are the second-phase Brix albums perhaps they stand alone.

I do see Levitate-TRNFLP as being a period too. Or maybe the newest era begins with TRNFLP.

Anyhooz, that's me breakin' it down for me.

Maybe you could skip composer details, lyric and live version comments. Just the song and on which album/single/ep you can find it would be enough. The rest we could do ourselves :)

Pleeeeeeeeeeease.

Have you got any idea what does starchidia mou means?
You aren't greek, are you?

Conway - August 5, 2004 10:10 PM (GMT)
MBV, you could just go to the discography albums & singles pages and use the find function (control-F in Windows PCs). ;)

yes it is short for 'i write it on my balls'

which means 'i don't care what u say'....in a very sarcastic way

i have always liked this

I've got two weeks off work starting Saturday and would be well up for contributing to an A-Z list in the way Conway suggested - as you have probably seen from my words at the Video Repository, I can be pretty nerdish/completist at times, and this sounds right up my street :)

As for the fanzine and book ideas I'm definitely up for contributing something - time I got my creative juices really flowing again...

exactly correct!

It's obvious that you have spent some time in the Greek Islands!
We write it: "Στ'αρχίδια μου". Good job!

Only as far as the Bs???!!! Well, spend a little less time working and doing up your house, and get moving, man! We depend on you to make life easier for us...

Should I start at Z and work backwards and meet you around M or N, then, Stephen ?

Should we agree to follow the method suggested by Conway ?
