first off, let me congratulate you on a job well done :applaud: ...the layout is great, and i love how you have little screen captures from the clips  ....
however, i have a problem with downloading....
1)it takes forever to download.. (i'm on dial-up so that should be expected)
2)when i successfully download the diVx clips they NEVER have any audio! :banghead: to be precise, i hear maybe a split second of audio at the beginnings, then...nothing :cry2: ....
i'm on a mac, is there something i should do (besides turn on the volume ;) ) from my end???
anyway, again excellent work...i just really wanna see these things...and HEAR them too
ok.
mjungblu - August 1, 2004 10:11 AM (GMT)
bikebloke and clayts, it works and it looks pretty fine!
Applause!
repeater, as I am on a mac, too, I don’t have problems on video or audio.
do you have a divx-player installed? This player reads the avi-files and works with quicktime.
divx.com has a freeplayer...

at the risk of sounding like an ingrate, is there any chance of seeing the Bill is dead clip again? I got this from SBending yonks ago, but was lost when old pc (without burner) went kaput.
I play all of these files via "Jet Audio" which seem sunique in that it handles real files. I blody hate real player, it takes forever to find the free version & then seems to take over your pc.
Even teh free version has lots of nice features.

I've stuck Bill is Dead up online at:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/clayton.haywa...ill_is_dead.aviIt's about 32mb in size. Thanks to Clayts, once again, for the webspace.

Totally great to see this again - MES washing his hands in a bog !
This was the Snub TV video version :)

Repeater - it sounds as though the codecs you are running are out of date or corrupted. Try reinstalling the most recent mac divx codecs from:
http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/Hope this helps.

well, i still have the EXACT same problem :banghead: X3million ....
i re-installed DivX....i went to their help page, i did everything i could think of....
is there a way to open the .AVI files into another player???
obviously DivX opens them and plays them...but STILL no audio.
plus, on their help page DivX suggests you look at the "info" window in your quicktime player to see if it's using the correct sound apps, etc...however, the files seem to be opening into a different player, rather than quicktime...  ...
sheesh...if you (mr.bending) or anyone else has any suggestions, please suggest away :cry2:  i apparently need some help...

I presume that you have the newest divx player...
But do you have installed newest quicktime as well?? Quicktime Player 6.5.1??
I guess this is very important...
As alternative you can try VLC Player.
This plays most of the video stuff, avi and mpeg2 as well!
VLC is a free player.

Repeater - once the codecs are on your machine the files should be playable in any other multimedia player that will play avi files such as Windows Media Player for Mac.
The Corsa file wasn't created using DivX - it's just a compressed mpeg file which should play without additional codecs. Try playing that to establish if the problem's related to codecs or may be another issue. The corsa file is at:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.bending/corsa.mpg I'e done some more searching online and it would seem that there's a known bug with the divx player that causes difficulties with audio - if you look at the history on the download page it's riddled with fixes for known audio problems.
The audio in these tracks is just pcm encoded wav files so there shouldn't be difficulties with the integrity of the files themselves - I am pretty certain that the files will play in a different media player.
Let me know how you get on,
Steven

Most impressive new layout guys, top work! :)
BikeBloke, I've now uploaded the 4th MTV 120 Minutes clip (Shiftwork). If Steven is running out of space & there are any other requests, I can upload stuff directly to the new server. I'll continue putting up bits and pieces over the coming days anyway.

The easiest way is to open the other player first, then use File -> Open from the menu, or the equivalent, to find the file you want.

I have to agree with conway with this, its rather fantastic.

i love the layout...screenshot reminders...and detailed info on each track....it really is gr8 work by all concerned B)
and thanks :)

thanx for the advice y'all...
i'll try again and see what happens...this looks like it'll be a project! ;)
clayts - August 4, 2004 12:19 AM (GMT)
I think what really helped in my case was being able to stick them on a CD-R and play them back in a DivX compatible DVD player - you can pick one up for about £50 from Amazon or WHSmith these days :)
Okay, the quality isn't always going to be great but when they're good they're excellent - helps to have some quality software to convert Real Video, Windows Media Video and MPG files to DivX too of course ;)
I can only really extend my thanks again to Steve and Bike Bloke for their massive contribution in making the repository such a resounding success. I had great fun writing the "personnel" and "context" things - took a bit of digging around, and has the potential to get even more nerdish in the future as I should have the User Guide to The Fall soon (won it for £4 on eBay :o )
Thanks for the positive feedback all - much appreciated. So has no-one spotted any glaring errors in the text then ?
