anyone who knows the doolittle tracklist knows the setlist, apart from their opening with assorted related b-sides ; weird at my school, manta ray, bailey's walk.
according to kim it was the first time they had ever played bailey's walk live so there you go - even at this stage they can still deliver firsts.
they were excellent of course, they've never disappointed. crowd mainly young, only a few oldies like myself.
i was torn between enjoying it immensely, they're still such an impressive live act, and thining to myself that i had stood in front of them 20 years ago and heard a pretty much identical set, that it was like being frozen in time, and that that was a bit of a shame...
Saw them in Glasgow after a 20 odd year wait and they did not disappoint. Wasn't over keen at first on the idea of a few b sides plus Doolittle instead of a 'normal' show, and feedback from Dublin on Frank Black's website added to this concern. But they came up trumps with an inspired final encore of 8/9 tracks all from Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa which made an excellent gig into a truly classic one. If I ever see another band as good as that I will consider myself very privileged.
Up on Dime if anyone interested.
I saw them at the Brixton Academy last night, Frank Black still has an amazing voice. Great gig.
I saw them last night at Brixton and can only add to everyone's enthusiasm for this tour. It was spellbindingly good.
