I picked Bent, naturally, it's his tune. I love that song. The Fall version (and I.S. in general) never did too much for me but all this praise made we want to listen again..

This song is very good. Ray Davies would have loved to have written this. So, all credit to Steve Bent for writing it, but it's The Fall's version which makes it great.

I don't know whether its a great song or not, but by doing it dead straight - as with "I'm not Satisfied" - The Fall make it seem genuinely moving.

The bloke has been made redundant and thinks he has nothing left to keep him in England; the decision to go to Spain is a depressive's idea of a last chance, and it will not work.

This along with 'Transfusion' also covered by MES, appeared on Kenny Everett's Worlds Worst Records, I have a copy and occasionally refer to it and wonder what is going to be covered next. I think he should have a go at 'This Pullover'. (Jess Conrad) :)
