Ding! :applaud:
Kubrick wanted to use music from the album, but he wanted free reign to edit the tracks, so the Floyd nixed it.
Would it have been better than Wendy Carlos' score:

Correct!
Welles spent the last 25 years of his life trying to film and/or make something out of the reels and reels of footage he had and Terry Gilliam's attempt to film it with Johnny Depp seemed jinxed from the start (as seen in the documentary Lost in La Mancha) -- both to no avail.
Some say it's jinxed -- I think it's coz the fucker's a dull book that runs to 1000 pages, myself. :o

A point for each of those -- one more for whoever gets the artist's name.

Re Question 5 -
The band were happy at first for him to use Atom Heart Mother in the movie. However Roger Waters changed his mind when he found out that in order to match certain scenes the songs would be edited by the films sound team. I'm a Floyd fan, sure, but I think it's a good thing that they backed out. A young thug listening to Beethoven is somehow a lot more frightful...

It wasn't that hard though - I have Duke Ellington's soundtrack for "Anatomy Of A Murder" on CD and "The Man With The Golden Arm" on DVD. Their covers are very similar to the posters.

Thanks, Gaz -- I searched tonnes of sites trying to find out more about it, but they were all vague. I didn't realise they were going to let him go ahead at first.
I read that years later Waters wanted to use clips from 2001: A Space Odyssey, but Kubrick vetoed it. I couldn't find out any more info, though...
Any idea what it was for?
