Correct. Kenneth Halliwell and Joe Orton. I've actually been to the fabled Islington flat! I'm sorry to hear about your neighbours, but not sure I can give you a bonus point here. But see below.

15 She left the gas on
Syvia "happy bunny" Plath
Correct. Put her head in the oven. As did Halliwell's dad, but you wouldn't have got a bonus point for that either.

18 After killing more than 250
Harold "world's worst serial killer-or is it best?" Shipman
Correct. You have to admire his professionalism, and as a doctor, he probably helped the NHS meet a lot of their budget targets.

20 And how he suffered for his sanity
The painter Vincent Van Go, he loved color and he let it show
Correct. And it was worth it, just to have such a lovely song written about him by Don Mclean from Crackerjack...

Bonus point for anyone who can name the (80s Indie) song written about the death of Orton and Halliwell.

elvischomsky - September 26, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
14 Captain Oates?
Correct. Antarctic explorer whose famous last words were meant to be; "I am just going outside and may be some time."
Although I've always thought the rest of them probably ate him.

DJAsh - September 26, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
13 Nero

DJAsh - September 26, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)

Ah, this isn't who I meant. You'll get a bonus point for the H-Block prisoner and Republican hunger striker - well done, but this question is still open.

'God Snaps His Fingers' by erm...erm...

Dunno. Thinking about this, there may be at least two of these. There was quite a vogue for Joe O in the 80s.

They weren't all famous people, then. Some are merely famous suicides by people otherwise unknown?

They're all famous, but this one only really became famous because of how he killed himself.

Oops - I just saw that 2 of mine had already been answered. If only the quizmaster could be prevailed upon to update the main list as he goes along as per this text book example:

http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/thefall/...showtopic=21186

these embarassing mishaps could be avoided!

Oh yeah - Budd Dwyer.

I bought a live Rapeman video from Camden Market in the 80s which had this footage added at the start as an unlisted bonus. The blood gushing from his neck is unreal.

Correct. Scandal immersed US politician who blew his brains out during a live press conference in 1987.
Rapeman put the footage right at the start of a video??!? How thoughtful of them! You can find the footage quite easily on the net, if anyone else has ever wondered what someone blowing their brains out actually looks like.
An American newsreader, Christine Chubbuck, did the same thing in the early 70s...

twinz2z - September 26, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
10, heiny Himmler?
took a cyanide capsule in the morning, then the american guards grabbed his tongue and all sorts of nasty things, to try and stop him from swallowing.
