Title: a rant on cincinnati
Description: the queen city

why is cincy called the queen city? and why is their best concert venue in kentucky? the southgate house which is of course in newport, is one of the best concert venues i have ever been too, i have been to bogarts in cincy but thats in the ghetto outside of u of cincys campus. cincy is pretty dirty with a crappy sports arena. It has changed so much since i use to go to a lot of reds games as a kid, for that matter the reds have changed as well, they use to be fun to watch now i cant bear to watch them since ken griffey jr is on the team. though my favorite football team is the bengals, its hard to watch them cause all they do is fight with each other and one of member of their team gets arrested once a week. The university fired thier best coach ever bob huggins and now the team is rebuilding, though they have a nice arena for their bball teams. the football needs ben mauk to rebuild. Cincy has a nice zoo, but its in the ghetto. cincy is a very racist city lots of crimes against blacks and its too conservative, no strip clubs around that area. the band blessed union of souls comes from cincy if you want to get laid play them. The afghan whigs are probably best band to come from cincy, peter frampton doesnt count, cause he just lives in cincy he is from england of course. I will admit the people i know from cincy on here are pretty nice, i wish my indians though wouldnt of lost to the reds, but hey there is always next year.

I seem to remember (20 years ago) driving along a straight road through nothingness, going over the brow of a hill and BOOM! there was Cincinatti, like it had landed there. We saw New Order play there.

I used to enjoy watching WKRP Cincinatti, when I was about 12. It was on ITV late in the evening, and it was the next best thing to Soap. :)

I just searched YouTube for this to refresh my memory and it came up with "the Infamous Pedophile Episode of Diff'rent Strokes". Can't even make a TV comedy about paedophilia these days, I tell you, it's Political Correctness gone mad.

Bogarts is an absolute pit!! I will only set foot in there again if The Fall play there.....
Mauk's appeal for another year of elegibility has been denied........
most of those crimes committed against blacks is by blacks........

chili is very famous in cincy the two biggest chili restaurants i know are 5 star chili and skyline, though in columbus there is only skyline and they have a great jingle called its skyline time and they have awesome cheese which they put on their chili, and now i am hungry for skyline chili.

The good news is that it is still funny now.
I know this as I bought the whole lot on hooky DVDs a bit ago.It is unlikely to ever be officially released due to the difficulties involved with getting clearance for all the music clips in the programmes,so I overcame my moral squeamishness and bought it.

Cicinnati is a gorgeous city and area, with beautiful streets and buildings and a lovely river, and almost magical towns across the river, but the people have attitudes that are way too provincial. There are definitely exceptions to the rule. Porkopolis peeps who would be on the Fall board, for instance, are probably not the kind of people I am criticizing here. But there are a lot of close minded folks there.
When I lived there I always wished that Cincinnati and Berkeley, California were forced to exchange half of their respective populations with each other.
The racial stuff (both sides) is tough to take.

Best thing about Cincinatti for me is that The Stooges played that festival there in 1970.
Yes the infamous 'peanut butter' one. :)

When I was a kid I lived in the Cincy area (Lebanon/Oregonia if anyone knows the place), and I think its beautiful there. Perfect place to be young (10 and under, I was). Haven't hung out there as an adult (21 that I am), so I'm not sure what its like to live in Cincy. Still pretty, though.
And the chili is AMAZING!

it is definitely a great place to go as a kid its close to kings island, the other fantastic thing close to cincy is kentucky which has no tax on their fantastic liquor, kentucky bourbon anyone?
