Title: Live at Massey Hall 1971
Description: from Neil Young's Archives

Stephen - June 29, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
Recorded on 19th January 1971 and released 13th March 2007, this is an amazing show, with most tracks far more intense and effective here than on their original albums. The segue of A Man Needs a Maid/Heart of Gold is especially dazzling. I'd gone right off Neil following Chrome Dreams II, but this acoustic live album is right up there.

Thoughts? Fave track?

God love 'im for releasing this - total genius.

I voted Journey Through The Past - I know it's corny but I love the way the crowd cheer when he sings "Now I'm goin' back to Canada..."

Once, I was stopped for a roadside questionaire in NZ (on the way to Te Henga), and while I sat and filled out the form with the guy standing at the car window, the wild applause before the final encore (about 4 minutes or so) was blasting out. He might well have thought - we've got a right one here...

Good poll Stephen, I was thinking about making this one. Personally, this is my favourite album (if it counts) by anyone. It's hard to pick one but I'll go for Old Man. Is 'chilling' the right term? Ohio is far better than the CSNY version, far more personal if that makes sense.

What an album :) . I voted for On The Way Home, but I could have gone for Down By The River, Love In Mind or Old Man.

I presume you have the Filmore East show from the same series, with Crazy Horse in tight form?

Probably the album I have played the most in the last 12 months.
I voted A Man Needs A Maid.

Love In Mind, a beauty. Good CD but I find the out of tune D tuning he uses on Down By The River. It's out by a very small amount but enough to set my teeth on edge. I'm a stickler for picking up out of tune guitars.

With a band it doesn't matter too much, with a solo guitar it matters a hell of a lot!

No. I was put off buying it when I read that it's not the entire gig.
