Title: Archive material
Description: Which year do you crave it from?
Stephen - June 22, 2004 02:09 PM (GMT)
I imagine we'd all like more archive material released: live tracks, unreleased studio bits and pieces, video footage, interviews etc. Bearing in mind what's already been unearthed, which year is top of your craving list?

I put 1985, simply because I'd dearly live a live album from that period of the quality of the 1983 Iceland one.
Surely they did a killer live performance of "Bombast"? The only recordings I've heard of that have been pretty lousy.

Some good live 1985 stuff on Fiend With A Violin (on the dreaded Receiver Records)

I'd like to see tons of archive material from ALL years. Perhaps they could be released chronologically in leatherbound multi-volume sets on a subscription basis!
What I would REALLY like to see is another mop-up compilation ala "LIstening In" that collects stray tracks of theirs which have fallen through the cracks.
Things like "Town and Country Hobgoblins" from the cassette only of B. Sinister, "Finale:Tom Raggazzi" from the vinyl only of Marshall Suite...a re-release of the bonus disc that came with initial copies of Levitate, etc. etc.
Does anybody have these sorts of things collected together? I would pay dearly if someone could make a CD-R of some of these things.
Guess there's no possibility of much of these turning up on a Receiver compilation eh?

Martin - June 23, 2004 11:26 AM (GMT)
1977, though I doubt if anything exists. Would be nice to hear Race Hatred.

I'd also like to hear something else from 2004...

A live album from 84/85 would be good, but I voted, controversially for 97, year of Levitate and my first Fall gig, Hanley's last stand, and a great walk-out/walk-on M5

Revived to go with Stranger's poll.

I could bang on and on about this for an age.
I still find it phenomenal that a "left-field" band and a "proper" dance company can come together and produce something as sonically and visually interesting as KO.
Art history books are full of any old rubbish that was put on by say the Dada lot or the Bauhaus or even the Surrealists, or my particular bette noire Gilbert and George. and these performances are told and re-told and have become accepted as of being of terrible importance in the scheme of things.
...and yet where is the History of British Modern Art that even briefly mentions KO?
Brit Art, Hirst, Emin, et al. reams of published material. KO nowt.
Has anyone seen/got the Michael telly documentary mentioned in the Guardian last week on the LCD soundsystem article?

I've voted for 1998 as this is one of three years where I've a real lack of live stuff. Other periods being late 1990 - early 1991 and early 2001.

A few things I'd like to hear.
1994, just after Brix rejoined. Specifically the Glasgow Arena gig. The intro tape was on 27 Points, so perhaps someone in the Fall camp recorded the gig ?
A good sounding show from the US, 2003.
Some seldom played tracks got an airing on this tour.(Xylarothep & Protein Protection)
There's an Empty Bottle show had both. How does it sound?

One good place to start is the Nottingham 1992 CD , if you want stuff from Code Selfish live :D
If you did mean 1993, there is some live stuff available officially, on Live Various Years and 27 Points, as well as 'unofficially' (due to fascist radio bosses :gun: :D ) the Sheffield April 93 sound City gig (well half an hour of it anyway) *and* the Manchester Roadhouse 8.12.93...
