I havent seen nearly enough of these, but I voted Mary Poppins. It never fails to amuse me to see an american with a dutch name playing a cockney.

Went for Diagnosis Murder purely for the episode where he plays all the members of one family. Hugely funny and sinister at the same time.

Cold Turkey - about the town that gives up smoking. Good fun.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the only one of these that I've seen.

But he was tremendous in the Mary Tyler Moore Show, which I used to watch on C4 in the '80s. The episode where he appears as his brother, a pool shark, was solid-comedy-mint.

The titles of the films I haven't seen - for shame - all seem packed with potential comedy value.
So I went for Some Kind Of A Knut...

"What A Way To Go" - not a bad film - good cast (Robert Mitchum, Paul Newman, Gene Kelly, Shirley McLain).

The Dick Van Dyke Show was actually pretty good - with Mary Tyler Moore, Morey Amsterdam, Rose Marie, Carl Reiner, Richard Deacon, Jerry Paris.....hated their kid Richie though.

I voted Mary Poppins :)

I like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a lot too. :)

I've not heard of / seen many of the others at all. Like the Woody Allen poll, it's almost got me curious - the latter had me thinking, should I persevere with many of the 'later' (for me that's practically post '74 or so) films that didn't really capture my attention? Thought of asking my cousin the film buff if he had the films but I think on principal (a very 'down the line' person) he'd have no truck with him over his opinions on the foster daughter thing.

Back to Dick Van Dyke...these tv things where he plays family members both sound intriguing, almost like I'd be curious to seek them out, maybe.

Good bloke imo - liked him on Diagnosis Murder too.

:)
