From today's Observer Music Magazine.

– Purple Rain was also chosen by Moby.
– Sexual Healing was also chosen by Jill Cunniff and Damon Albarn.

'Records liked by...'

Oh God,

I've heard one Salif Keita song in my whole life and it was years ago and I can't remember much about it,
Sexual Healing is one of those songs that everyone loves and I don't really like it,
I have never, nor will I ever hear a Peter Gabriel song, other than (and because of) that fucking song with the "revolutionary" video that was released at the time - dunno the title, don't care,
Purple Rain is shit, apart from Doves Cry, which isn't that good,
One Love is quite good...I'll vote there. :)

Hmmm.
I always thought Sexual Healing was really unsexy and rather creepy.
One Love.

Never really liked Marvin Gaye except for his duets with Tammy Terrell.
"One Love" is really the only choice for me here.
I can never see, hear, or have Prince's name even mentioned without remembering and laughing over Boy George's description of his physical appearance.

"A dwarf who's been dipped in a bucket of pubic hair"?

Unforgettable isn't it? :D

I listened to some Salif Keita today, and it was very good.
From 'Soro'

Never heard of the first one- the rest are crap to me.

I can't vote for any of those. I saw Keita at a Womad festival and he was boring. The Melt album was the last good thin Gabriel did. The rest bore me too.

I quite like the Salif Keita record. The others are boring as hell - they have released better records than the ones listed... maybe with the exception of Prince, who has always been quite dreadfull imho.

Hmm I voted for Sexual Healing then realised I'd got it mixed up with 'Let's Get It On'. :o

Erm...it's still my favourite, but it can really drag. If I'm in the right mood and relaxed it's good.

I like the way it influenced Texas in doing 'Say What You Want'. :girl2:

Great song that latter one, seriously.

i find peter gabriel albums really tedious

This says everything that needs to be said about this list so I won't repeat it.

Aside from the little purple fucker nothing else on the list appeals.
