Title: Maxwell Hall, Salford Uni
Description: Rescheduled gig: on/off/on/off/on again?

philiph20 - March 11, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
I work at the University and a few people in the Estates dept have mentioned that the Goof Friday concert is off due to poor ticket sales, nothing is confirmed yet but it would be a complete pain if it's off.

monkey_rat - March 11, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
aw piss.

philiph20 - March 11, 2008 06:47 PM (GMT)
I just hope it can be salvaged but the mutterings were from the University end naturally, no idea how many tickets have been sold but i think Maxwell Hall holds between 1000 and 1500, nothing announced officially so who knows, really looking forward to the show and an airing of some of the new songs.

All those posters round town with MES in some sort of circus uniform and the promise of a possible two bass line up might do the trick.

Hope its not off, booked the day of work and everything so I can celebrate 25 years of bloody following them!

Did not realise it was such a big venue (1000-1500) - and I was worried I may get stuck up in the balcony!

cryptomoralist - March 12, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
Don't freaking do this, I'm coming from bloody Australia to see it and it's the only one I can get to...
Surely if it is they could reschedule elsewhere?

Neal Cassady - March 12, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty certain it won't get cancelled - poor ticket sales does not normally stop Fall gigs going ahead, fingers crossed anyway...

philiph20 - March 12, 2008 12:27 PM (GMT)
Apparently their is an internal meeting about the concert on friday but as far as is known today it's off from the mouth of one of the members of staff who have to be on call that night (electrician)..f**king great :-(.

Cheshire Cheese - March 12, 2008 01:05 PM (GMT)
I have e-mailed Alan Wise, see if he can throw any light on this

And just because the electrician wants to call the shots!

josef - March 12, 2008 01:34 PM (GMT)
It's been organised

It's been organised by Faculty of Arts Media and Social Sciences, same people that are organising the symposium.

Well they gonna have some explaining to do

A word to the Wise then....
Oh well, at least we should know by Friday what the score is. But being Good Friday and all I dunno about the chances of rescheduling elsewhere if it is canned.
Could be a precog typo by philiph20 there - Goof Friday indeed....

Faust Banana - March 13, 2008 01:04 AM (GMT)
Shame. Was planning to catch them again at the Salford gig. Strange that a hometown gig has suffered though.

im-into-cb - March 13, 2008 07:27 PM (GMT)
Any news yet from either the uni or Alan?

josef - March 13, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
It's not been called off, it's gossip.

What was that? Hot Gossip are the support? That'll sell more tickets!

philiph20 - March 13, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
Well the meeting is tomorrow, apparently it may be posponed until next month which is a damn site better than no gig at all, i will keep you posted. I think the University are more interested in the gig going ahead than the group what with the money they would make and apart from the security who are hired by the Fall an electrician and caretakers from the University will be on site at Maxwell Hall.

im-into-cb - March 13, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
A month later would be better, as the album may be out by then, plus im seeing them the night before anyway

is it good or bad news for you?

cryptomoralist - March 14, 2008 01:06 PM (GMT)
Not good. A month earlier woulda been perfect - misread the date and posted back too quick.
Just gonna pop off and check some BR timetables, see what the odds are of getting to Leeds.
Hey ho.
