Excellent series of books about albums that are mostly worth hearing.
One author per album.
Pick your favourite album from 01 -10.
If you've read any of these ten books then please give your opinion of it / them.

The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society is my favourite.
I like The Smiths more but Meat Is Murder is not their best album. Suprised to see Abba Gold in this series.
JD and Pink Floyd great as well.

Toss up between 9 and 10, but today Prince wins.

Went for the Love record.
I do love Neil Young but can't vote for Harvest as it's a bit dull, especially compared to some of his other greats. See Stephen's comments on Dylan in the other thread.

I've read the Unknown Pleasures book. It's quite a difficult read in parts - but very rewarding.

Just finished the Sam Inglis book in this series about Harvest. Unfortunately, it is completely lacking in insights and seems oddly without purpose, especially since the author makes it clear that it is not Young's best album. A huge disappointment after the superb Led Zep IV book (see poll 2).
But I'm still planning to read as many of these as possible.

Kinks Village Green.
The only book in this series I read was the Abba one - absolutely dreadful, just some fool talking about themselves and not the fabber four.
Kind of put me off the list, but the 69 Love Songs one looked interesting.
Great album, too...

Kinks. Not my favorite Kinks album but it's still The Kinks
