Title: The Political Compass
Description: Where Do You Stand?
cryptomoralist - December 9, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
This should be a good one if enough people do it -
The Political Compass. If you believe that the concepts of left and right are becoming increasingly less relevant when applied to contemporary politics, this is well worth doing.
Be warned, it is something of a serious timewaster as the questions run to six pages, but the end result is fascinating. The link here goes straight to the test, but I'd advise having a quick look at the home page so you can see where these people are coming from.
Proud to say I'm somewhere south west of Gandhi and well away from the other dodgy types on the grid.
Enjoy!
:D

I ended up slightly SW of the centre of the green quadrant - between Ghandi and the Dalai Lama. OMG! I really am a wet liberal tree hugger. :(

Nowt wrong wi' that Fred - you're in good company - certainly the right quadrant to be in I reckon. I mean right, not politically, erm...
South West is best!
Divvey - December 9, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)

not a surprise.
Although many things the baldy man said, I do not agree with.
duckpin236 - December 9, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I meant to take the test but I read I HAD to read the instructions since I came from another site so Effyouseall if you know what i mean.
Short answer: Leftist.
Buy Kurious! - December 9, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
I didn't read the intro bit: too thick. I did take the test.
I'm one square down and one to the left of Divvey.
I wonder if there's any FOFer's who aren't in the green square? :o
duckpin236 - December 9, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
Buy Kurious & duckpin236 occupy the exact same space.[once I was taught that I would not be forced to read instructions, I took the quiz and I was surprised with my result....I thought I would be closer to the orange zone]
cryptomoralist - December 10, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
Here's mine - sorry, should have posted it earlier.

Meself, Duckpin and BK - snap! I wonder if this also gives one a predisposition to adding to song-chain-game threads...
Also noticed the statement on page 5 - "You cannot be moral without being religious".
That one could take up a 15-page thread by itself if t'were set loose...
;)
skrikin' kid - December 10, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
I got around -6 economic, -9 social.

sweepstake anyone?
Are there any fofers prepared to 'out' themselves as fascist bully-boys? Or are we all understanding and compassionate on here?
duckpin236 - December 10, 2007 01:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah so why is it that 3 of the 4 main song name participants are political triplets and why are the rest holding back? Or: can you be moral AND religious if the religion itself is not allowed to define "moral"....?
Nice quiz....too bad about Divvie..... :D [and if I need a quick loan, I'll think I'll call on FredII first :) ]

Thank you!
myonics has been trying to get me to join for ages, and I figured that the start of exams would be the perfect time.

Oi! What have I done that makes you think I'm an easy touch?
Or is it all the bling and furs i wear that give it away?
Besdies, who devised this test? Why should us lefties have numerical values expressed as negatives? That seems entirely loaded to me. I'm glad now that I missed my economic and social rating, cos I would've only accepted a positive value anyway.
King Nat - December 12, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Another SW, green squared, Ghandiesque tree hugger here.
Now, what would the result be on the Ted Nugent forum I wonder?

I personally think they should have marked American heavy metal icons on there as well as Gandhi, Stalin etc.
See how far away you can get from Dave Lee Roth and Dee Snyder, f'r instance.
duckpin236 - December 16, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
Say what you will about Uncle Joe Stalin. I will say this: for a world leader, he had a great head of hair. He had his down side to be sure, but that was some thick carpet he had going for him.

I wonder if there's a scientific correlation between exuberant follicles and genocidal tendencies?
"No one likes a bald man"?
Try singing that in the gulags! <_<
duckpin236 - December 17, 2007 12:06 AM (GMT)
I bet 50% of the purge trails involved men with as good or better hair than Joe....didn't like competition...He followed Trotsky, or his UGPU did, across 4 continents and Trotsky's head looked like an explosion in a steel wool factory...Why do you think Khruchev was around to take over? Some times the simple explanation is the best....

Look at his hair as a youth:

The signs were there all along! :o
On Edit: Whoops - The pic wasn't so big on the other website!

That's damned close to mine Pollish - funny how if everyone has really similar political views we somehow manage to argue so much...or perhaps there would be some members who haven't done the test yet would demonstrate startlingly different results.
duckpin236 - January 1, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
Since people either aren't taking the test, or are taking it and failing to report for one reason or another, perhaps you should consider assigning ratings and making them prove otherwise :P

I appear to be the Dalai Lama. More like the Dahlia Lama I suspect.
cryptomoralist - January 3, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
This could lead to another discussion of political nature being paralleled by follicular proclivity.
Are all pacifists bald?
The Dalai Lama, Gandhi...
Mussolini?
(Sound of point being broken. Shuffles quietly sideways...)
