My Trusted Friend You Need Some Delicious But Ugly Broken Fish

That's how I remember the Byrds studio album in order of release
(Mr Tambourine Man, Turn Turn Turn, Fifth Dimension, Younger than Yesterday, Notorious Byrd Brothers, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, Dr Byrds & Mr Hyde, Ballad of Easy Rider, Untitled, Byrdmaniax, Farther Along).
Simple!

In the spirit of the above, which artists' studio albums are listed below?

1. Destroy Manchester Forever-See Liverpool Incinerated

2. Clever German Lad Sings Christmas Carols

3. Lets Take Back Sunday, Martin. Clean Round Shepherd's Bush. Get Back Loan Notes Mislaid Nightly. Make Sure Everything Returns Home.

4. Slowly, Surely, Lou Moves The Crud Underneath Barry's Sofa, Drying Carpet.

5. Does Reality Turn Darker If She Understands War?

6. Go South, People. Set Sail Upon Hyperion!

7. Violence Always Hurts, Never Really Being The Nicest Response (1977-1983 Only)

8. Heaviest Rock Even Without Drummer Gets Punks Going Totally Tits

9. Sonically We Felt Free

10. Beat The Limits

Mere Pseud. - December 6, 2007 05:59 PM (GMT)
8. Patti Smith

interesting and hard quiz (unless most of these acts are deliberately obscure)

Mere Pseud. - December 6, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
3. Lou Reed

Two right for our German correspondent.

Most of the acts up there have been discussed quite a lot on this forum...

2 is The Clash. (Knowing AHS, it was only a matter of looking through the mnemonics to find which one it was...)

spiring - December 7, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
4 is almost Captain Beefheart. (If Trout Mask Replica is ignored, and Ice Cream For Crow drops the Ice.)

spiring - December 7, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
And 1 is Black Flag.

snoweyuk - December 7, 2007 09:26 AM (GMT)
Much too hard for me.

I can confirm that none of them are Led Zeppelin

I, I, I, I.....................

aye!

These are outrageously difficult, Acton.

Number 6 appears to be the Cramps, at least for the G,S,P,S -- but then goes haywire.

I wondered if number 9 might be the Chameleons, but I think their 4th album was an S rather than an F.

5 is PJ Harvey

Well done. I thought of P J Harvey, couldnīt remember the title of the 2nd album, and thought "nah... she hasnīt released that many albums."

:D

Acton High Street - December 10, 2007 09:22 AM (GMT)
PJ Harvey is right. :applaud:

Or rather, Stefan is right and PJ Harvey is the answer. :D

Sorry, Zoot, neither of your guesses are right-I don't think no.6 is your sort of music at all.

It does look rather difficult in the light of day-I might come up with some clues later. ;)

Naff off, laughing boy. :finger:

We're still looking for a two left-field rock groups, one from Birmingham and one from San Francisco, a band of garage rock legends from the 60s and a jazz musician who died young.

There's an even harder one in the planning stages.

Mere Pseud. - December 10, 2007 11:13 AM (GMT)
9. The Seeds

I assume the left-field rock group from Birmingham isn't ELO.

Just to finish this off, this forum appears to be short of fans of Godflesh, Chrome and Eric Dolphy (Outward Bound, Out There and Out To Lunch).

I've actually got Godflesh's Selfless playing right now.
But I'd never have got it anyway.......

is it over? is # 6 put away? I was going to say #6 might be Albert Ayler cuz some of his albums start with most of the first letters of the clue.
